This mounting kit lets you install a single-DIN (2" tall) aftermarket stereo in your vehicle's dash opening. The nose of your new car stereo will protrude a little bit with this mounting kit, but it's useful for many radios with fold-down faces. Please enter your vehicle information or call an Advisor at 1-888-955-6000 to find out if this kit is compatible with your vehicle. Warranty: 60 days.

Note: Most vehicles will require additional installation parts — please identify your vehicle if you haven’t done so, then check here for a list of parts. You can also call an Advisor for more information.

Head unit install kit

Written By G. Savidge, Marlton, NJ on Thursday, May 09, 2013
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

If buying an Alpine CDE-HD149BT don't buy this kit. The radios face plate fits so tight in the bracket that when trying to insert a CD and flip the face plate down it gets stuck. Tech support advised me to file the opening in the bracket and it still will not open without forcing it. Go with the din mount install kit.

Read this if your radio "did not fit"

Written By G. S., Akron, Ohio on Saturday, April 27, 2013
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Worked exactly as expected, and the pocket is serving nicely as a place to tuck the speaker until I get a chance to rip the rest of my interior apart. :).

Some of the other reviews complained that this mounting kit did not fit their radio. I can only speak to my particular case (Pioneer Single DIN in a PT Cruiser), but what I had to do was remove and discard the radio's plastic trim piece (around the face plate) and the metal sleeve it snaps on to. After that, using this mounting kit AS the trim piece, everything fit perfectly and looks very clean in the car. (My wife was even impressed!) This requirement wasn't stated explicitly in the instructions, but I was able to figure it out by piecing together bits from the Crutchfield docs, the radio docs and the mounting kit docs.

Would definitely recommend this solution to others.

Pros:
Clean, fits, professional looking. Relatively easy to install.
Cons:
Instructions didn't specify that this replaces the radio's factory trim plate, so you will need to remove that if it doesn't fit. Also, I added a rubber spacer to support the back end of the radio against the sleeve since I wanted it to feel more solid.

Pocket so small,not usable

Written By Greg, New Mexico on Thursday, April 25, 2013
Installed in a 2004 Dodge Dakota
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Was almost not able to use, because screws that came with the stereo I bought from Crutchfield were not long enough to mount unit. Had to counter sinc the holes in the plastic so they would be long enough. That said it is a very cheap way to install a stereo. Hope that it will hold up to day to day use. You won't be using the pocket underneath, it's to small for anything.
Pros:
It's installed!
Cons:

Read the instructions....

Written By KevinW, San Diego on Sunday, April 21, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Good design and it 'floats' the head unit within the trim. Don't make my mistake, read those instructions first!! It does not use the receiver's supplied sleeve; instead it uses plastic brackets that bolt to the sides of the receiver.

I don't quite understand the mini-pocket under the radio. I think it's for a CD jewel case, but it looks as if I'll just lose things down in there... I would've liked the receiver support brackets to me more sturdy than plastic, but all-in-all, a good product.
Pros:
fitment
Cons:
plastic supports for receiver, mini-pocket

looks good but rattles at every bump in the road

Written By Dallas, Newton, NC on Sunday, April 07, 2013
Installed in a 2001 Chrysler Sebring
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The fit and finish on the product is good and works great with my Kenwood radio. Crutchfield support is the BEST!
Pros:
Small pocket is good for holding a few CD's. Crutchfield support is without equal.
Cons:
Rattles all the time. If I put my finger in the pocket and apply a little downward pressure the noise goes away but as soon as I remove my finger the rattle is back. Kind of like putting a plastic ruler over the edge of a desk and thumbing it, just a constant annoying rattle. BUT as always the Cruthfield support was Great and sent me the mounting kit without the pocket and the rattle went away. If given the choice between a mounting kit with or without the pocket, go with the one without.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Fits my Jeep perfectly and provides a very finished look... However, the slot is a too small to be of much use... We just put our iPod cord in it. Be sure to cover the small holes in the back of slot so nothing small falls through.
Pros:
Fits well and easy to install
Cons:
Slot is too small to be useful and has small holes in the back

Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep In-dash Receiver Kit

Written By Joey, Fallbrook, CA on Friday, January 25, 2013
Installed in a 2003 Dodge Ram 3500
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This product makes it look stock. Doesnt stick out at all. Even the pocket underneath looks stock and clean. I had a problem installing because there are prongs on either side that they put for some odd reason. Those prongs make it so it wont fit. I just cut them off and it went on without any problem.

Install Kit

Written By JcG, Niagara Falls ON on Monday, January 07, 2013
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Certainly not expensive
Pros:
Did the job
Cons:
Cheap plastic. Not very strong compared with the factory mount. Kind of leaves the back of the head unsupported. I provided rear support with two sided tape to the storage slot under the head.

Not very straightforward

Written By Dan, Charlotte, NC on Saturday, January 05, 2013
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Used this trim kit with an Alpine receiver. Instructions were conflicting and confusing. DIN sleeve had to be removed for the plastic side pieces to fit properly. Plastic seemed somewhat flimsy to support the weight of the receiver. Had to 'hollow out' some plastic on the side supports in order for the screws supplied with the kit to connect with the receiver. Somewhat disappointed with Crutchfield on this one. I expect a little more from them.
Pros:
Fit the car as expected just fine.
Cons:
confusing instructions and flimsy construction.

Fit the car but not the radio.

Written By Joe, Alpharetta, GA on Tuesday, January 01, 2013

While this kit was a perfect fit for the car, I had to carve out the opening in order to fit the stereo into it. Not a deal breaker, but not quite the simple fit I expected.
Pros:
Fit the car
Cons:
Required customization for installation of the radio.

Adviser picks wrong install kit

Written By Eric, Albuquerque on Saturday, December 29, 2012

This kit is the metra 99-6504 that fits some dodge products. This kit is not for the 03-06 Jeep Wranglers as suggested. The kit has two alignment bars that are flat that you have to snap off in order to use it in Jeeps.. The correct kit with a pocket is the metra 99-6505 which has the correct round alignment pegs. I ordered one on another website as the Crutchfield techsupport could NOT understand why it was the wrong kit and that kit install perfectly. The order kit the Adviser suggest without a pocket metra 99-6503 works fine but does not have a pocket.
Pros:
Might work for some and has a pocket.
Cons:
The adviser says this fits the 03-06 wrangler but it does not without breaking a few parts off the kit first.
