Features
Overview: The Boston Acoustics MM 226 Computer Speaker
System consists of two mini-tower satellite speakers and a powered subwoofer
with a separate control pod. You can connect your desktop or laptop computer,
plus your iPod or portable MP3 player whenever you want a different source. A single 3.5mm headphone minijack allows you to listen privately
whenever you desire.
Satellite Speaker Design: The ultra-thin speakers feature a sealed ABS
Soft-Touch enclosure with dual 2" high-output, high excursion drivers and a 1/2" high-performance semi-dome
tweeter. The satellites are powered by a 25 watts RMS (50 watts
peak)-per-channel amplifier built into the subwoofer.
Subwoofer Design: The powered subwoofer features a
down-firing 6-1/2" paper cone driver with a foam surround. The subwoofer is
powered by a built-in amplifier with 50 watts RMS/100 watts peak power. You can
independently adjust the volume of the subwoofer with a rotary control on the
side of the enclosure. In addition, the line input, control connection, and
speaker outputs are located on the side panel.
Wired Control Pod: The MM 226 system includes a
multi-purpose wired control pod. The pod has an on/off power switch with an LED
power indicator, as well as a rotary master volume control. On the back of the
control pod are two 3.5mm minijacks; one is for plugging in stereo headphones
and the other is an auxiliary input for connecting an occasional source, such as
an iPod or MP3 player. The auxiliary input source overrides the device plugged
into the line input (on the subwoofer). The speaker system mutes whenever
headphones are plugged into the headphone jack. Dimensions: W=2.209", H=1.268", D=3.604"
BassTrac: The MM 226 system uses Boston's exclusive BassTrac audio
processing to give you rich, clean bass at any volume.
Boston P.O.P.: The Boston Personal Option Plan (P.O.P.)
allows you to match your environment with optional grilles in multiple colors
for the MM 226 speaker system. In addition to the Onyx grilles that come with
the speakers, you can purchase grilles in Glacier, Rose Bud, or Chili Pepper.
These optional grilles are available directly from the manufacturer.
