About the Code Alarm MV3

Ken Nail
Code Alarm's MV3 dual-zone microwave motion sensor uses radar to detect movement inside or just outside your vehicle. Interior and exterior protection zones feature independent adjustments for sensitivity, so you can set the alarm to chirp when someone comes close to your vehicle, then to go off if they reach inside. It's a great addition for convertibles or vehicles with sunroofs.

Product Research

Features

Overview: The Code-Alarm MV-3 Dual-stage Microwave Sensor, using a unique RF technology, detects the movement of mass through a protected area, such as a person reaching into the interior of your vehicle. The sensor provides ideal protection for convertibles, plus protects your possessions inside your vehicle.

Detection Fields: The sensor has two fields of detection, exterior and interior. When motion is detected in the exterior field, the unit will cause the alarm to emit a series of warning tones. If the interior field is penetrated, the unit will cause the alarm system to trigger a full alert. The shape of the detection fields are symmetrical and elliptical, so placement and orientation can change the effectiveness of the detector.

Mounting: The MV-3's module should be mounted near the center of the interior of the vehicle, with the LED and adjustment dials facing upward. The provided "Y" harness allows you to plug in the Microwave Sensor, as well as a Shock Sensor, using one port on the alarm's control module.

Note: The plug on the "Y" harness will not fit the port on the Shock Sensor included with the Code-Alarm CA1151, CA1551, CA6151, or CA6551 alarms. The plug must be cut off and hardwired to the shock sensor's harness.

Adjustments: The sensor has two dip switches that allow you to set the sensitivity and configure the unit to the desired mode of operation. The unit can be set with the dip switches to Arm Mode with interior protection only or with both interior and exterior protection. Two rotary potentiometers are located on the top of the module for adjusting the exterior and interior sensitivity independently. Setting the sensitivity too high can cause false triggers and annoying pre-warn chirps when someone walks by the vehicle in a parking lot.
