Overview: The Rockford Fosgate Prime R600-5 is a 5-channel
amplifier, designed to power four full range speakers plus a subwoofer. The
R600-5 is essentially three amps in one chassis; front and rear class A/B
2-channel amps with identical but independent controls (gain, crossover, Punch
Bass), and a class D subwoofer amp (with its own gain, crossover, phase, and
Punch Bass controls). The front and rear channels are bridgeable, so the amp can
also be used in 4-channel or 3-channel modes.
CEA 2006 Compliant: The R600-5's power ratings are measured
according to the strict standards dictated by the Consumer Electronics Association
(CEA). These standards allow you to accurately compare the rated power output of
all CEA 2006-compliant amplifiers, even different brands. Manufacturers who adhere
to the standards can display the CEA 2006 logo on their products and packaging. The
RMS power output is as follows (measured with a 14.4 volt input, <1% THD+N, front
and rear channels 20 Hz-20 kHz, sub channel 20-130 Hz):
- 4-Ohm: 50 watts x 4 + 200 watts x 1
- 2-Ohm: 75 watts x 4 + 300 x 1
- Bridged (4-Ohm): 150 watts x 2 (front
and rear channels only)
LED Indicators: The amplifier is equipped with two side-mounted
LED indicators:
- Power LED: illuminates blue when the
unit is on
- Protect LED: illuminates red when a
protection circuit engages (short circuit or too low an
impedance is detected at the speaker connections); the
amplifier automatically turns off if this occurs
Mounting: The amplifier can be mounted vertically, horizontally,
or inverted using the supplied mounting screws; horizontal mounting (right side up)
will provide the best cooling. The amplifier should never be mounted in the engine
compartment (this will void your warranty).
Controls
Gain Control: The amplifier has three gain controls; front,
rear, and sub. Each is continuously variable from 150mV to 8V.
Crossovers: The amplifier features independent crossovers for
the front, rear, and sub channels:
- Front:
- Type: choose low-pass (variable),
all-pass (full range), or high pass (80 Hz)
- Frequency: the low-pass crossover
point is continuously variable; 50-250 Hz
- Rear:
- Type: choose low-pass (variable),
all-pass (full range), or high pass (80 Hz)
- Frequency: the low-pass crossover
point is continuously variable; 50-250 Hz
- Sub: the subwoofer's low-pass crossover
point is continuously variable; 40-130 Hz; the sub crossover
cannot be bypassed
Phase: A switch allows you to easily invert the subwoofer
phase, choose 0° or 180°.
Punch Bass: The front, rear, and sub channels also have
independent Punch Bass (bass boost) controls. The front and rear channel options
are 0 dB, 6 dB, and 12 dB. The sub channel's Punch Bass is variable from 0 dB to
12 dB. All the Punch Bass boost circuits are centered at 45 Hz.
Punch Level Control: When the included wired remote Punch
Level Control is connected to the R600-5, the subwoofer channel output level can
be adjusted remotely (from the dash or center console). The Punch Level Control
module features a rotary dial and includes mounting hardware and a 16' connector
cable.
Connections
Power Terminals: The power and ground terminals are nickel-plated
screw terminals and will accommodate up to 1/2" wide spade or ring connectors.
Rockford recommends using 4 gauge power and ground wire.
Remote Turn-On Terminal: The remote turn-on terminal is a
nickel-plated screw terminal that will accommodate spade or ring connectors up to
0.34" wide.
Speaker Terminals: The speaker terminals nickel-plated screw
terminals what will accommodate spade or ring connectors up to 0.34" wide.
RCA Input Jacks: There are three pair of RCA input jacks;
front, rear, and sub. They are nickel-plated to resist signal degradation caused
by corrosion.
Fuses: The amplifier is shipped with two 40-amp ATO fuses
installed. Two spare 40-amp fuses are also included.
