Overview: The PĒQ (peek) Smart Thermostat is one of several components that can be used within a PĒQ home automation system. The thermostat replaces the one that controls your current HVAC system, and can be controlled wirelessly from anywhere through the PĒQ app. It can control both electric and gas systems, and controls up to two stages of heat and two stages of cool. The thermostat has no physical buttons, but has a smooth front face and touch controls. The temperature set point is controlled by a slider control for precise changes. Backlit icons and LEDs provide full indication of the system's status.

PĒQ Home Automation: The PĒQ Home Automation System is a convenient way of controlling and monitoring your home wirelessly from a single, easy app. The system is anchored by the PĒQ hub, which syncs with your wireless router, and talks to all of the PĒQ devices in your home. Using the PĒQ app on your computer, tablet, or smartphone, you can set up each device, and control it to suit your lifestyle. Available devices include door and window sensors, appliance and lamp modules, motion, water, and carbon monoxide sensors, cameras, and a thermostat. A high-speed internet connection (minimum 1 Mbps/750 kbps upload/download speed recommended), a wireless router, and a computer are needed to get started. Using PĒQ with a tablet and/or smartphone (iOS or Android) is recommended for the best experience. The PĒQ service is available by subscription for $9.99 a month.

Installation: The PĒQ Smart Thermostat is designed to replace your home's current thermostat. Self-adhesive labels are supplied to mark the locations of each of the wires of your existing thermostat. It is also a good idea to take a picture of the wiring with a digital camera or your smartphone before disconnecting it. Four screws and wall anchors are included for mounting the thermostat to the wall. The thermostat can be powered by an existing 24V AC connection, or by the supplied 4 "AA" batteries. If using the existing connection, the batteries can still be used as a backup. Installation takes approximately 45 minutes, and requires flathead and Phillips screwdrivers, a level, and a power drill with a 3/16" drill bit.

Programming The Thermostat: Once you have installed the thermostat, it must be paired to the PĒQ hub and programmed. You can choose parameters such as Fahrenheit or Celsius, Heat Pump or non-Heat Pump, Heat Source (Gas or Electric) and Temperature Calibration. You can also set minimum and maximum heat points and cool points, and rules for setting the temperature for different times of the day. Each day can be programmed separately if desired.
