I waited a while for this unit to become available and am glad I did. The speakers I bought are very efficient but an external amp helps them sound their best especially at lower listening levels. This amp with it's plug and play feature was very easy to install and gives me plenty of oomph and kept me within my budget. If you're considering an Alpine head unit, you won't regret adding this amp.

What a great item for someone that is looking just to have a better sounding stereo without over the top Amps.

I bought this amp to go with an Alpine head unit to install in my 61 Buick. It has all the power I need, and is extremely clean in delivery with a wide range of music. The compact size makes it easy to locate, and it looks & feels like a quality component.

Received the unit sooner than expected due to it being backordered - a nice surprise. Very nice build quality; all-metal construction, heavy enough to say "I represent quality", but not so heavy as to be unwieldy. Wire harness connectors leave a little to be desired - they came loose during testing. Make sure they're seated firmly as they don't "click" as obviously as you might expect. Otherwise, installation is ridiculously simple: Unplug the wire harness from the back of the head unit and stick the power pack in between that connection, using the cables that came with the power pack. Then figure out where you're going to hide the power pack and cable-tie the excess wire length. You're done, unless your deck isn't Alpine; then you'll need to splice a few wires.

On volume: Prior to installing this power pack, turning up my Alpine CDE-HD149BT beyond 15 was a little straining on the ears; turning the head unit up beyond 18 was just plain uncomfortable. After the install, everything just sounded... better. Less ear fatigue when listening at higher volumes!

On quality: Cleaner, crisper sound... it even sounded a little brighter than before, and that's with factory 6.5" door speakers and 1" tweeters. I didn't need extra volume, but I can hear a clear difference in quality and clarity that simply wasn't there before. And it's nice to know I can get the added volume when I want it, such as when leaving the doors open when working outside.

Got my new KTP-445A yesterday via UPS - as usual, very quick shipping by the good folks at Crutchfield. After working hours, I was able to install the unit in my 2007 Jetta Wolfsburg, connected to my CDE HD137BT in <15 minutes, including the time required to disassemble/reassemble the dash. The unit fit behind the radio without issue. I was pleasantly surprised when I shut the doors and "test fired" the new configuration - not massive volume boosts, but I was able to get considerably more volume before audible distortion after the installation. 18W to 45W per channel in 15m - amazing. Overall an amazing buy and a worthwhile investment for my humble audio system. I don't necessarily need (or want) it bone rattling loud - just clean with good frequency response across the board - this amp delivers that cleanly, accurately and with minimal installation efforts.
