    Features

Overview: The Definitive Technology ProMount 80 is an articulating wall-mount speaker bracket designed to hang small satellite speakers on the wall. The ProMount 80 is compatible with any speaker equipped with a 1/4"-20 sized threaded insert that weighs up to 6 lbs. The ProMount 80 is also compatible with the following Definitive Technology speakers.

    • ProMonitor 600
    • ProMonitor 800
    • Mythos Gem
    • ProCenter 600 (requires pair)
    • ProCenter 1000 (requires pair)

Note: The ProMount 80 is packaged in pairs.

Articulating Mount: The ProMount 80 features a ball-and-socket assembly which allows you to swivel, rotate, and angle your mounted speaker in the direction you need it. The ProMount 80 features a plastic ring which tightens around the ball-and-socket assembly to hold your speaker in place once its facing the direction you want.

Installation: The ProMount 80 attaches to the 1/4"-20 threaded insert on the back of your speaker. Each mounting bracket features two integrated screw holes which are used to mount the bracket to your wall (using optional wood-screws). The Definitive Technology bracket mounts the speaker approximately 1.875" away from the wall.

The Def-Tech mounts did the job perfectly for mounting my Def-Tech center speaker. Not much adjustment capability but, for me, it didn't matter much. Thanks for the quick delivery. Always a pleasure and a hassle-free experience doing business with you. ML

    Not great

Written By AustinJerry, Austin, TX on Sunday, April 22, 2012

I used these mounts for ProMonitor 1000 speakers, which are 7 lbs. I have two issues with the mount. First, the range of adjustment was too narrow--I could not aim the speakers exactly to the primarily listening point. Second, the large plastic thumbwheels used to lock the mount in place cannot be adjusted tight enough by hand. Using a large adjustable pliers gets the job done, but not without marring the surface of the thumbwheel plastic. For an additonal $10, I recommend the ProMount 90, which is all metal, has a wider range of adjustment, and can be locked down using an allen wrench. I replaced all of my ProMount 80's with 90's.
    Pros:
    None.
    Cons:
Limited range of adjustment, hard to tighten the thumbwheel.

    Not bad at all

Written By Peter Irie, Maryland on Friday, July 29, 2011

These are not bad brackets but when mounting them, please try to get better wall plugs and thicker screws. The ones they come with are not the best quality. Other than that they are pretty good.

    Definitive Technology ProMount 80

Written By Brad, Louisiana on Sunday, July 10, 2011
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I ordered the ProMount 80's to replace the factory mounts on an older set of Klipsch Quintet II speakers (which had a U-shaped integral base/mounting bracket with a limited range of motion) in a new ceiling mount installation.

The ProMount 80's are stable, secure, and provide a great range of motion for aiming of these smaller-sized speakers. The ball joint/socket fit is tight, to the point that you have to force the two together, but this is what makes the assembly so stable. Some forethought will be necessary, as there is limited space between the wall/ceiling and speaker to connect the wiring and then tighten the knurled ring for final speaker aiming.

The brackets appear to be stable enough for a slightly larger sized speaker, and the instructions even make reference to using two brackets per speaker for mounting of larger-sized speakers, but the larger the speaker, the harder it will be to hold everything in place to make connections and tighten. Note that the alignment of the two ball joints to the two wall-mounted sockets on a dual mount application would have to be PERFECT in order to work, as there is zero play in the ball joint/socket assembly.

    Perfect for smaller wallmount speakers

Written By matt, Lexington KY on Monday, January 25, 2010
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It's a wallmount, works as advertised. Very solid and secure, no worries about it pulling away from the wall or drooping with the weight of the speaker attached. I am using these mounts with Definitive Technologies Mythos Gem speakers. Only little quibble keeping it from a 5-star review is how tight you have to get the knurled knob to stabilize the speaker orientation. The knurls are slippery and a little hard to turn, especially if you are mounting in tight places, like corners. I had to use a pair of pliers to get them to the correct tightness.
