Features
Overview: The Yamaha YIT-W12 is a wireless transmitter designed for
use with the Apple iPod, iPhone, and iPad; as well as with PC and Mac computers
via the included USB cable. The YIT-W12 consists of a wireless transmitter
with an Apple 30-pin connector, and a 15" USB cable terminated by a USB type-A
connector on one end and a micro-USB connector on the other end. The YIT-W12
wireless transmitter employs Yamaha's yAired technology to establish a wireless
connection with select Yamaha components, including the
YAS-201, YSP-3300, and YSP-4300 soundbars (all sold separately) for the
transmission of audio from your Apple device or PC/Mac. The YIT-W12 supports
uncompressed wireless audio transmission (linear PCM), delivering clear and
accurate sound.
yAired Technology: yAired is a proprietary Yamaha wireless technology
that uses lossless (uncompressed) signal transmission to achieve wireless sound
quality that is as good as wired quality and the perfect synchronization between
sounds and images for movies.
Wireless Transmitter: The wireless transmitter operates on
the 2.4 GHZ frequency band. It is fitted with an Apple
30-pin connector and supports the iPod nano (3rd/4th/5th/6th gen), iPod touch
(1st/2nd/3rd/4th gen), iPhone (2G/3G/3GS/4/4S), and iPad (1/2/3). It allows
wireless transmission of audio from your compatible Apple device to a compatible
Yamaha soundbar with yAired technology.
Note: The YIT-W12 also supports the iPod nano (7th gen), iPod
touch (5th gen), iPhone 5, iPad 4, and iPad mini when used in combination
with either the Apple Lightning to 30-pin
adapter or
cable (both sold separately).
USB Cable: The included USB cable allows you to connect the yAired
wireless transmitter to your Windows PC or Mac computer. The USB cable features
a micro-USB connector which plugs into the wireless transmitter's micro-USB
port, while its USB (type-A) connector plugs into your computer's USB (type-A)
port. The wireless transmitter's USB driver software will be automatically
installed on your computer when you first connect the transmitter to your
computer. The YIT-W12 supports the following Windows and Mac operating systems.
- Windows 7, Vista, and XP
- Mac OS X (10.6 or later)
Note: You cannot play back computer audio when an iPod is
connected to the transmitter.
Sampling Frequencies: The Yamaha YIT-W12 wireless
transmitter supports 48 kHz audio files from the Apple iPod, iPhone, or iPad. It
supports 32, 44.1, and 48 kHz audio files from a Windows PC or Mac computer.
Power Requirements: The yAired wireless transmitter uses the battery
of your connected iPod or your connected computer as a power source. The USB
cable can be used to charge your compatible Apple device while the Apple device
is docked to the wireless transmitter and the included USB cable is plugged into
the transmitter and your computer.
iTunes Sync: You can sync your connected Apple device with iTunes
using the combination of the wireless transmitter, USB cable, and your computer.
You cannot play back audio during data synchronization.
Auto Playback: A Yamaha yAired compatible component will automatically
turn on and select the input source of the YIT-W12 wireless transmitter when you
start playback on your connected Apple device.
Dip Switches: The YIT-W12 wireless transmitter and compatible yAired
Yamaha components feature dip-switches which must be set to same group number in order
to establish a wireless connection.
LED Indicators: The wireless transmitter features two LEDs which
indicate status.
- Flashing green rapidly (iPod recognition in progress)
- Flashing green slowly (preparing for a wireless connection)
- Lights up green (wireless connection established)
- Flashes red (iPod low battery or error indication)
