Features
Vedetta Series: The Cobra SLR 650G is part of the Vedetta
Ultimate Detection Systems Series. It detects all radar guns, laser guns, and
red light/speed cameras in use today. This new series offers a 30% increase in
performance over Cobra's previous flagship model. The Vedetta Series provides a
2.4" color LCD display, and a new adjustable mount.
2.4" LCD Display: The SLR 650G features a 2.4" LCD screen
with an easy-to-glance graphical display to help you keep your eyes on the road.
The display is mounted on a ball-socket suction cup bracket, allowing you to
mount the detector virtually anywhere on the dash or windshield. The display can
be rotated 270 degrees vertically, allowing you to choose a flip-up or a
flip-down position, and turn the display 60 degrees for best visibility from the
driver's seat. The orientation of the display can easily be set to match the
mounting position. If desired, you can mount the display on the dash using the
provided self-adhesive hook-and-loop fasteners.
Touch-Point Controls: The display has touch point controls
on the outer edges of the screen that light up automatically to show you
available options. The controls include Volume (1-7), Display Brightness (1-5)
Left/Right Scroll, City/Highway Mode, Color Themes, Select, and Menu/Save & Exit.
Aura Database: The SLR 650G adds another level of protection
by providing the location of red light cameras, speed cameras, known speed
traps, and dangerous intersections through the Aura Camera & Driving Hazard
Database. With the purchase of the SLR 650G, you get lifetime access to the
national database.
Note: You must first register the unit with Cobra, and
download the database into your detector via the provided USB cable.
Internet access is required.
You can download Aura database updates at any time once you are registered.
GPS: The unit's built-in GPS receiver provides vehicle
location data to the unit, and sounds an alert when you are near the location of
a known threat area. The receiver also monitors your speed, and can alert you
when you exceed a set speed. When initially setting up the detector, you must
set parameters for the Speed Alert (on/off), Format (Miles/Kilometers per hour),
Caution area alert (on/off), Speed Trap Alert (on/off), Photo Enforcement area
(on/off), Intelliscope, and Aura database info.
IntelliScope: When IntelliScope is turned on, the unit will
not only provide detection of a nearby Location-based Alert (LBA), it will also
provide the direction (with a pointing arrow) towards that LBA location. With
IntelliScope off, you will only get alerts for those LBAs you are directly
approaching.
Color Themes: The unit offers a variety of color themes to
match your vehicle's instrument lighting. You can select from blue, green,
orange, red, white, and multi.
Compass: The SLR 650G offers an 8-point magnetic compass to
provide the directional heading of the vehicle. The compass must first be
calibrated prior to initial use.
Screen Indicators: The Standby screen will indicate the
compass heading, current speed, vehicle battery voltage, city/highway mode, and the IntelliMute status. During a
Radar alert, the screen shows the Radar band type, frequency, and signal
strength in numerals and bar graph. With Laser signals, the screen will indicate
"Laser" and the pulse rate (100, 125, 130, 200, 238, or 340).
Audible Alerts: In addition to visual alerts, the unit
provides audible alerts. The audible alerts can be set to tone or voice.
Vehicle Battery Voltage: The SLR 650G monitors the voltage of the
vehicle's battery, and displays the voltage in the Standby Screen. The unit will
alert you if the battery voltage drops below 11.9 volts. The low battery warning
can be turned on or off in the Alert Settings menu.
Radar Alert Settings: The SLR 650G lets you customize the
detector to suit your needs. Each of the four radar bands (X, K, Ka, and Ku) can
be toggled on or off.
Note: Laser monitoring cannot be turned off.
IntelliShield: Quad-level IntelliShield provides protection against
false alerts from Automatic Door Openers and other devices which operate in the
X and K-band frequencies. to minimize unwanted false alerts in a city
environment, you can select one of the following city modes:
- City X: automatically mutes X-band audible alert until signal
strength reaches level 3 or above.
- City X+K: combined with City X, automatically mutes K-band
audible alerts until signal strength reaches level 2 or above.
- City X+K+Ka: combined with City X+K, automatically mutes Ka-band
audible alerts until signal strength reaches level 2 or above.
- City Max: Maximum filtering against urban false signal sources.
IntelliMute: IntelliMute allows you to avoid audible alerts
you don't need to hear because you are either stopped or moving slowly. By
sensing the RPMs of the engine, IntelliMute knows that you are driving at a low
speed and automatically mutes all alerts (except for strobe signals from
emergency vehicles). You must first set an activation point for your engine's
RPMs, and when the revs go below that point, IntelliMute begins muting. Once
set, the activation point is stored in memory.
Smart Power: The SLR 650G is powered by a 6' straight cord
that plugs into your vehicle's cigarette lighter or 12-volt power adapter. The
SmartPower feature, when activated, puts the unit into Standby mode for about 15
minutes after the car's engine has been turned off. After 30 minutes in Standby
mode, the unit will automatically shut off.
