Bazooka

Enclosed Subwoofers 101

An enclosed subwoofer is a box with a subwoofer already installed. The advantage to buying an enclosed sub is that the manufacturer made the sub, then designed and built the box as a perfect match, so you'll get the best possible performance. Every enclosed sub has a maximum RMS power handling rating, so pair it with an amp with a similar RMS power rating to get the best performance.

Our take on the Bazooka BT6024DVC

by Steven Johnson

A bass cannon

Bass makes up about 30% of your music, and it gives music its power and impact. A good subwoofer can make an average car audio system sound good, and a good car audio system sound great. Good bass is all about moving air, and a cylindrical tube translates the motion of its woofer into maximum air pressure so you hear and feel more bass. Bazooka designed the Bass Tube to act like a bass cannon, firing low frequencies throughout your vehicle.

Bass Tube efficiency

BT6024DVC 6-1/2" Bass Tubes® enclosure

The BT6024DVC Bass Tube features a 6-1/2" polypropylene woofer with a twin-layer compressed foam surround for smooth excursion. The dual 4-ohm voice coils promote high power handling, and each voice coil has its own set of input terminals to give you maximum hook-up flexibility. The tube design eliminates standing bass waves for accurate response and high efficiency. Find a good spot for a Bazooka Bass Tube in your vehicle and you'll still enjoy plenty of cargo room.

Big bass without losing space

Bass Tubes enclosures fit just about anywhere

A compact Bass Tubes enclosure will fit in almost any vehicle, and you can disconnect it in a snap if you need more cargo space. Since the tube's speaker and port are right next to each other, you can get amazing results by "corner loading" your tube — placing it in a corner of your trunk or cargo area so your vehicle's boundaries act as a natural amplifier, boosting bass production. Features

Overview: The BT6024DVC features a water-resistant poly enclosure that houses a 6-1/2" poly woofer with a foam surround. The patented Bass Tube enclosure design eliminates bass standing waves for high accuracy, and superior efficiency.

Dual 4-ohm Voice Coils: This tube features dual 4-ohm voice coils that offer flexibility in wiring. When the voice coils are wired in parallel with each other, the tube presents a 2-ohm mono load. When the voice coils are wired in series with each other, the tube presents an 8-ohm mono load. In addition, each coil may be connected to a different amplifier channel and each channel will see a 4-ohm load. Each coil can handle 150 watts RMS, so the combined power handling is 300 watts RMS.

5-Way Binding Posts: The 5-way binding posts will accept bare wire, pin connectors, spade lugs, banana plugs, and dual banana plugs.

Installation: Each mounting strap has an attached mounting base that can be secured to your vehicle using the supplied self-tapping screws. Once the mounting bases are installed, the tube is held in place by the mounting straps. For best results, the tube should be mounted facing into a corner, and there should be 2" to 4" between the woofer and the corner into which the woofer is pointing.

Been looking for much needed help on my Wrangler system and this tube fit the bill. Hooked it up to an old amp I had, tied it on one side of the bed and it sounded great! Think I made the right choice after checking out other options! Thanks, Crutchfield!

These Bass Bazookas are awesome! I've had one in my other vehicle, 1992 ford ranger for 8 years. Very pleased and can't beat the price!
    Pros:
Awesome design and sound! Never a doubt when I ordered this piece!
    Cons:
There are 4 speaker wire connections on this tube due to the dual voice coils. The outer connections are a little tough to deal with. Definitely need to be patient while connecting speaker wire inputs.

    Outstanding

Written By shopguyal, Seneca sc on Friday, March 09, 2012

I have a Toyota Tacoma standard cab, so size of the enclosure was a real issue. I have a Kenwood amp and a Sony receiver. I was completely blown away by the performance of the bazooka. I use the hpf and lpf in the Sony and none of the filters on the amp. It is a smooth, rich sound with no distortion. I have decided to order a second one I am so impressed. I have been a Cruthcfield customer since its inception. You will find no better customer service and available when it is convienent for you. Thanks Crutchfield.
    Pros:
Hard hitting, clean sound, and a quality component at a fair price.
    Cons:
Binding posts for connection are a tight fit and somewhat difficult to use. But once you're connected, you're done.

The Bazooka gets the job done in my 96 standard cab F-250 4x4,fits great behind the seat and gives a nice tight bass fill to my system, I'm running 200 watts to the Bazooka and 150 watts x 4 to my 6 1/2 in. components and it's a real nice mix (just the right bump).
    Pros:
Fits nice behind the seat, great bass for the size, fair price.
    Cons:
    None so far.

    I am really upset

Written By Anonymous, Sacramento, CA on Wednesday, November 16, 2011
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I don't mean to sound disgruntled but I am upset. I thought with the sensitivity of this bass tube it would accent my car stereo with the power of my head unit. Wrong... Yes I tried reversing my wiring. I connected this to my home stereo and cranked it up with it's RMS maximum and it still did not put out nearly the bass I expected. So I bought a stereo amp for my car to push it as hard as it could handle and it still was not pushing hard enough to be audible over my front speakers. I could hear it but once the car started rolling I could barely notice it.

Please note: I am NOT a bass head. I wanted to "warm" up the sound with a simple sub. This was not even close to filling that bill. Which is really disappointing. I loved the design of this and loved the small space requirements... Oh well... I am eating the cost on this thing.

My recommendation, try to audition this first. Make sure not to take your time installing it, so if you don't like it you can still return it. My mistake that I held on to it a month before even trying to install it.
    Pros:
    Price; Size; DVC
    Cons:
    Weak; Horrible sound quality

    Just right

Written By Mike, Arkansas on Monday, September 19, 2011
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I've had a 75w amp that's been sitting idle for a while and I decided to buy a Bazooka to hook to it. I put them in my Silverado extended cab (bass tube under back seat, amp just behind on ledge). The fit is great and the Bazooka is rugged and should hold up to our kids knocking around. I have a Pioneer stereo with high and low pass filters and the extra bass from the Bazooka paired with cutting back on bass to Infinity 2ways in the doors sounds just right. Thanks to Crutchfield for continued great service

    Awesome Speaker

Written By Terry, Dexter, NM on Friday, July 08, 2011
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I recently had a 10" Pioneer subwoofer speaker in my Jeep Liberty. The sound was great but took up a lot of space. I saw the Bazooka Tube and it's mounting capabitlities it's what caught my eye. I read all the reviews about how the sound was great, but not that loud bass where people hear you coming a mile away. I was able to mount the Bazooka Tube in my cargo area on the wall of the drivers side. It gave me my cargo space back and the sound is awesome. Even for Techno songs it sounded great no distortion that some speakers do. I had this Bazooka Tube so far for a week in my Jeep and loving it. Thanks Bazooka for a great product and to Crutchfield for there great service.

    nice bass

Written By lane, fort worth, tx on Sunday, October 24, 2010

I have had a bunch of bazooka tubes over the last 20 years. I have a 2010 f250 crew cab.
Not much room behind the rear seat, did not want to remove the fabric and insulation on
the back wall for a box. This subwoofer fit just perfect behind the seat and produces
really nice bass for the size. It will go head to head with a ten in a box.

The first one I got from the outlet was blown but crutchfield sent me a new one
immediately without waiting on the return. Great customer service. It has nice deep bass
and I plan on adding another on the other side to replace the stock box and 8inch
subwoofer. Running it off an almpine mp500 amp.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

First i noticed that I made a mistake of ordering this one because I thought this is one of those powered sub like the first one I bought. Anyway Idecided to give it a try to connect this directly to my HU. I am very much satisfied with the out come. I added the base I was looking for with out installing an amp due to limited space in my car. I was wondering how much of a difference is the powered one.

    Great Buy!

I bought one of these for my new Chevy extended cab pickup. This little sub added just the right amount of bass that I wanted to my truck. I hated how all the sub boxes looked in my rear cab and also how they ate up every single bit of extra space. This bass tube takes up hardly any space under the rear seat and is totally out of site. And it's easy to take out if I have to load up the rear cab. Great buy for the price!

"Judge me by my size do you?" Yoda

Written By allen, Phoenix on Saturday, August 18, 2007

This 6 creates enough bass for all but the biggest bass head. This 6 inch replaced two 8 inch dvc. This Bazooka is neck and neck with the two 8 in a custom box. It's all about the technology. FOLLOW THE RECOMMENDED INSTALL LOCATIONS! The design engineers know more then you. Trust them.

Others have talked about distortion... I would say it is their amp and not the sub. Subs tend to bottom out, not distort. Amps clips and cause distortion. Bottom line... TECHNOLOGY! It's what makes a 4cyl Honda as fast as a V8 and a Bazooka brand tube as loud as 2 subs twice the size in a box. BAZOOKA BY SAS IS ALL YOU NEED!

    Better Bass

Written By Yardley, Alabama on Monday, March 13, 2006
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed one Bazooka BT6024DVC in my 1990 F-150 standard cab. The unit fit nicely behind the seat. My old truck had only the two front speakers which I recently replaced. However, 6-1/2's just didn't have the lower end punch I was looking for. I installed the Bazooka and immediately noticed more lower-end. My Pioneer DEH-P3800MP receiver came equipped with the option of a sub output on the rear speaker wires so I used that instead of a separate amp. Overall I have a lower-cost system with decent bass for my occasional use vehicle. Give the Bazooka BT6024DVC a try but if you want BIG bass I suggest you get one of the larger tubes and pump it up with an amp.

Great bass for the buck. I had one in my Dakota extended cab, and it produces full, deep bass without being overpowering. I had it hooked up to an Alpine amp with built in crossover. I like this thing so much I'm getting a second one to go with the original into my new Explorer. Cheaper than getting a custom enclosure and 8" or 10" component sub. Can't go wrong with this little wonder.

It is very efficient and this little 6.5 is more than enough for my truck. Im definatly looking to get another, simply beause im a kid obsessed with his sound system.

    Pleasantly Surprised

Written By Chris, Northern Kentucky on Wednesday, February 16, 2005

I had my doubts because of size and wattage ratings whether this tube would thump or not. I used a small 2 channel Profile amp with built in crossover to power it. I installed it in the back of my Volvo wagon and cranked up TobyMac's new CD. My wife came running out of the house and wanted to know what that big rumbling was. I was glad to tell her that it was that little 6 1/2 inch sub in the back of the wagon. I am now tasked with installing one in her vehicle.
