Overview: The Polk SurroundBar SDA Instant Home Theater is
a great solution for improving your TV's sound quality in situations where you
can't, or choose not to, run speaker wires for a multi speaker system. It's a
two piece, 2.1-channel system; including the powered SurroundBar with left and
right channels built in, and a wireless powered subwoofer.
Note: While the subwoofer receives
its audio signal wirelessly from the SurroundBar, it
does have an AC power cord that plugs into the wall.

Driver Technology
SDA Surround technology: Polk's patented SDA (Stereo Dimensional
Array) Surround technology is based on fundamental research into the way our ears
process sound and perceive the direction of sounds. It uses a patented combination
of signal processing and acoustical geometry that complements the spacing between
your ears to produce a wide sound stage without the need for rear mounted speakers.
Since the SurroundBar works directly with the hearing mechanism and requires no
special room characteristics, it can deliver a room-filling surround experience in
nearly any location in almost any type of room.
Enclosure: The SurroundBar features a stylishly curved composite
enclosure. The shape of the enclosure breaks up internal standing wave resonance to
give you pure, lifelike sound. The down firing subwoofer is in a ported enclosure;
the port is also down firing.
Drivers:
- Tweeters: two 1/2" Silk dome

even at high volume levels

Controls & Connections
Controls: The SurroundBar has top-mounted controls for power,
mute, volume up, volume down, and remote. On the back of the SurroundBar there are
switches for master power, gain level, and channel ID (for wireless transmission).
There are three controls on the back of the subwoofer; power, volume, and channel
ID. The channel ID switches on the SurroundBar and subwoofer need to be set to the
same channel (1-4).
Connections: The audio signal is routed to the SurroundBar via
the RCA stereo input. You can get this signal from your TV's audio output, or from
your satellite or cable box. The subwoofer receives its signal wirelessly from the
SurroundBar.
Remote Programming: The SurroundBar can be programmed so that
codes from an existing remote (TV, cable box, etc) will control the system volume,
including the mute command. In the unlikely event that your existing remote isn't
recognized, a credit card style remote is included that controls power, volume
(+/-), and mute.
Auto Power: When their master power switches are left on, the
amplifiers in both the SurroundBar and subwoofer turn on automatically when the
SurroundBar receives an audio signal. Both amplifiers turn off after approximately
15 minutes without an audio signal.
Mounting Options
Video Shielded: The SurroundBar is magnetically (video) shielded
for safe placement near your TV or computer monitor without causing picture interference.
The subwoofer is not magnetically shielded.
SurroundBar Placement: The SurroundBar has its own feet, so it
can sit directly on a shelf. Two cradles are also included, allowing you to tilt
the speaker up or down slightly. The cradles add approximately 1-1/2" to the
SurroundBar's height. Two keyhole slots allow wall mounting the SurroundBar above
or below your TV. A wall mount template is included for proper hole placement.
Bass Unit Placement Options: The subwoofer receives its signal
from the SurroundBar wirelessly, so it can be placed virtually anywhere in the room.
It only requires plugging into an AC outlet.
