Driver Technology
Woofers: Each speaker uses a 6 1/2" DCD (Deep Channel
Design) copolymer woofer. The DCD woofers use a deeply grooved pole plate that
enables the voice coil to travel farther for greater output without bottoming.
Tweeters: Each speaker has a 1" Kortec soft dome tweeter.
Kortec is a silky fabric saturated on the underside with a proprietary
stiffening agent. Because the inside surface of the dome is ultra stiff, the
tweeter tracks the signal with ease and produces an excellent transient attack.
Simultaneously, the soft, self-dampening top layer eliminates unwanted
resonance. So the sound is smooth and articulate.
Enclosure Design
Weatherproof: Drawing from over a decade of all-weather
speaker expertise, Boston Acoustics built the Voyager series to minimize
exposure of acoustic parts to weather and with materials proven to resist the
elements. The cabinets are polypropylene and are resistant to impact and UV
light, grills and brackets are aluminum, and the speaker connectors are gold
plated. All the drivers are manufactured from high-tech plastics, rubbers, and
other materials that have been extensively tested for durability.
Connections
5-Way Binding Posts: The gold-plated 5-way binding posts
will accept bare wire up to 12 gauge, pin connectors, spade connectors, banana
plugs, or dual banana plugs.
Mounting Options
Location: Matching the all weather design, the Voyager
series is specially voiced for open-air environments like the patio, deck, or
any other open setting.
Mounting Brackets: In addition to being corrosion resistant
powder coated aluminum, the included mounting brackets offer enormous placement
flexibility. They allow you to rotate the speakers almost 90 degrees after
they've been mounted, letting you direct the sound to different areas as needed.
If the speakers are mounted vertically, the brackets allow them to swivel side
to side. If the speakers are mounted horizontally, the brackets allow them to
swivel up and down. The speakers' shape makes corner placement easy.
