Features
Overview: The Sonos Dock (formerly the Wireless Dock or WD100) lets you play music from select iPods or iPhones on a Sonos
Digital Music System throughout your
home. You can wirelessly play all the music that's stored or playing (including
many music apps) on your iPod or iPhone in all the rooms of your home or
office where you have Sonos.
Note: At least one Sonos player (Connect,
Connect:Amp,
Play:3 or
Play:5) must be set up before the Sonos Dock can be added to your music
system. If a software update is available, be sure to update your Sonos
system before adding the Dock.
SonosNet 2.0 Wireless Mesh Network Technology: SonosNet 2.0 is a
secure AES encrypted, peer-to-peer wireless mesh network. This state-of-the-art
wireless technology allows you to place the Sonos Dock wherever you
want in your home and dock your iPod or iPhone so you can play back the
music stored on your iPod/iPhone on any or all the Sonos players in your
house.
High Fidelity Audio: The Sonos Dock directly accesses the
digital music stored on your iPhone or iPod and sends it wirelessly to Sonos players all throughout your home. The Dock delivers the
highest fidelity audio quality by playing the digital music stored on your iPod
or iPhone without ever converting it to analog like most conventional
iPod/iPhone docks. The Dock sends your digital music files
wirelessly to Sonos players throughout your home preserving the sound
quality from the iPod/iPhone to the speaker, ensuring you get the highest
fidelity sound.
iPod Compatibility: The Sonos Dock is "Made for
iPod/iPhone" compatible and supports the following iPod/iPhone models and
functions (as of June 2012):

Note: Apple iPod/iPhone software updates may
change functionality results. If you download a newer software
version, you may need to reset the device and your iPod/iPhone
to regain functionality. If this doesn't work, you may need to
revert to the older software version or wait until a newer
software update is available.
Music Playback: The Sonos Dock will play music stored or
playing on an iPod or iPhone, including many music apps.
Autoplay Mode: You can dock your iPod or iPhone and the music that's
been playing automatically starts playing on your Sonos system.
Autoplay mode provides a seamless transition between your portable and home
audio experience. You can walk in the door, place your device in the dock, and
the music that's playing on your iPod or iPhone automatically starts playing
over your Sonos system. Autoplay is supported from any compatible docked
iPod or iPhone to any Sonos player or group of zones.
Autoplay Zone: You can select the zone (or group of zones) where your
docked iPod/iPhone's music will automatically play and the desired volume level. This
is the zone that will automatically play audio if you start music directly from
an iPod or iPhone when it is seated in the wireless dock.
Multi-Room Playback: You can wirelessly play the same song from a
docked iPod or iPhone in every room of the house through your Sonos system, perfectly synchronized.
Flexible Music Control: You can browse and select the music
from either your docked iPod/iPhone or any Sonos
Controller (sold separately). You can select music directly from your device when it is
seated in the dock (autoplay mode), or you can use any Sonos Controller to make
music selections and control playback (accessory mode). Using the optional Sonos
Controller, you can browse your iPod/iPhone's music by Playlist, Artist, Album,
Genre, Song, Composer, Audiobook, or Podcast.
Information Display: The Sonos Dock does not feature an
LCD screen and does not offer music information display. You will continue to
use your iPod/iPhone's LCD screen to view song information. Using the optional
Sonos Controller, you can view Track number, Elapsed playing time, Song
title, Artist name, Album title, and Album art.
Volume Control: The Sonos Dock features volume controls
to adjust the audio output level of the dock to your Sonos system.
Charging: The Sonos Dock quickly charges your iPod or
iPhone while it's seated in the dock. The Dock supports 1 Amp
charging, the latest specification from Apple.
LED Indicators: The Sonos Dock is equipped with two
status indicator lights to indicate operating status of the dock.
- LED flashes white when powered up; flashes green and white when connecting
to your Sonos Multi-Room Music System.
- LED solid white when powered up and connected to your Sonos Multi-Room
Music System (normal operation).
- LED flashes red if the device in the dock is not a supported model.
Power Supply: The Sonos Dock is powered by standard AC
household current using the supplied AC power adapter.
