Features
Real 3D: The Fujifilm FinePix Real 3D W3 digital camera lets
you easily shoot high-resolution 3D photos and movies using Real 3D technology.
The camera is equipped with dual lenses and dual CCD image sensors which
simultaneously capture the image. The 3D images can be viewed on the camera's
3.5" Wide 3D LCD monitor, on a 3D television (when connected via HDMI), or on a
3D Digital Viewer, such as the FinePix Real 3D V1.
3.5" 3D LCD Monitor: The Real 3D W3
is equipped with a 3.5" widescreen 3D color lenticular LCD monitor with
1,150,000 dots. Frame coverage is
approximately 100% vertically and horizontally.
Dual 3x Zoom Lenses: The Real 3D W3 is equipped with two f/3.7-4.2 Fujinon lenses with a
3x optical zoom (35mm equivalent: 35-105mm). In normal 3D and advanced 2D mode
you can engage a combined optical and digital zoom up to 3.8x. In normal 2D
mode, the digital zoom is approximately 5.7x, and combined with the optical zoom
gives you a maximum zoom of 17.1x. No digital zoom is available in advanced 3D
mode, so the total available zoom is 3x optical.
Dual Image Sensors:
The FinePix Real 3D W3 features two 1/2.3-inch CCD image sensors, each with
10.17-million effective pixels. The image data captured by the twin lens-CCD
system is processed by the newly-developed RP (Real Photo) Processor 3D HD. The
technology merges the left and right images into a single image.
Recording Media: Still images and movies
can be recorded onto optional SD or SDHC memory cards. The Real 3D W3 also has a
built-in flash memory of approximately 34 MB to allow you to store a few more
images in case your memory card is full.
File Formats: The camera can take still pictures and movies
in 3D or 2D:
- 3D Still Images: 3D still images are stored in the multi-picture
format (.mpo). The multi-picture format allows multiple images to be stored
in a single file. There is an option to save a photo in both 3D (.mpo) and
2D (JPEG).
- 2D Still Images: 2D still images are stored in the JPEG format (Exif
2.3).
- 3D Movies: 3D movies are stored in Stereo AVI with two image
channels, sometimes called 3D Movie Format.
- 2D Movies: 2D movies are stored in Motion JPEG with stereo audio
recorded in AVI.
Image Sizes: The FinePix Real 3D W3 allows you to record still images in
Large, Medium, or Small in three aspect ratios:
- 4:3 Aspect Ratio:
- Large: 3648 x 2736 (10M)
- Medium: 2592 x 1944 (5M)
- Small: 2048 x 1536 (3M)
- 3:2 Aspect Ratio:
- Large: 3648 x 2432 (8.9M)
- Medium: 2592 x 1728 (4.5M)
- Small: 2016 x 1344 (2.7M)
- 16:9 Aspect Ratio:
- Large: 3584 x 2016 (7.2M)
- Medium: 2560 x 1440 (3.7M)
- Small: 1920 x 1080 (2M)
Movies Sizes: The Real 3D W3 can record high definition
(16:9) and standard definition (4:3) movies are recorded in three sizes with
stereo audio. Fujifilm has extended the generic Motion JPEG format to create
an AVI movie file that supports 3D. 3D movie files can be played back on the
camera in 3D with stereo sound. When viewed in Windows Media Player, only
images recorded with the left lens will be displayed. The following frame
size options are
available:

Parallax Control: The dual lenses capture an object along
two different lines of sight, much like human vision. This phenomenon is called
parallax. When the two images fail to properly line up in a captured photo, you
can use the camera's Parallax Control function to align the images for the
maximum 3D effect. Parallax can be adjusted either automatically or manually.
Shooting Modes: Using the rear-mounted mode dial, you can
make the following shooting mode choices:
- Auto: A simple "point-and-shoot" mode recommended for
first-time users of digital cameras.
- Scene Position (SP1, SP2): You can choose a scene suited to the
subject or shooting conditions, and let the camera make the proper
adjustments. Frequently used scene positions can be stored in the two
available memory positions. You can choose from: Anti-Blur, Natural Light +
Flash, Natural Light, Portrait, Landscape, Sport, Night, Night (Tripod),
Sunset, Snow, Beach, Underwater, and Party.
- Manual: You choose both shutter speed and aperture. If desired,
you can alter the exposure from the value suggested by the camera.
- Aperture Priority: You choose the aperture setting while the
camera automatically adjusts the shutter speed for optimal exposure.
- Program AE: The camera automatically adjusts the aperture setting
and shutter speed for optimal exposure.
- Advanced 2D: The camera simultaneously takes two 2D pictures, one
with each lens, with different options selected for each:
- Tele/Wide: takes one picture zoomed in using the zoom control,
and the other at wide angle.
- 2-Color: takes two pictures, each with different color options
(standard, chrome, or black & white)
- 2-Sensitivity: takes two pictures set at different ISO
sensitivity values (100, 400, or 1600)
- Advanced 3D: This mode offers greater 3D flexibility than the
Auto mode. The camera takes two shots with the left lens and combines them
to form a 3D picture. You can choose from:
- Interval 3D Shooting: This option is most effective when taking
pictures of a distant object from a moving vehicle. The camera automatically
takes the two shots at a fixed interval. You can select Minimum, 1, 1.5, 2,
3, 5, or 10 seconds.
- Individual Shutter 3D: This option lets you combine two shots
taken from different angles to create a 3D picture.
Auto Exposure: The Finepix Real 3D W3 uses programmed
auto-exposure--the camera automatically sets the aperture and shutter speed
according to the shooting conditions. The shutter speed can range from 4 seconds to 1/2000. The aperture can range from F4.0 to F6.7 in wide angle and F4.8 to F8.0
in telephoto.
Intelligent Face Detection (2D Only): When Face Detection is On,
the camera automatically detects human faces anywhere in the frame and sets the
focus and exposure for shots that emphasize portrait subjects. This mode will
prevent the camera from focusing on the background when taking group portraits
or self portraits. Intelligent Face Detection also offers a red-eye removal
option for removing the red-eye effects caused by the flash.
ISO Sensitivity: You can manually set the camera's sensitivity to ISO
100, 200, 400, 800, or 1600. The Auto settings will adjust the
sensitivity settings according to the shooting conditions. The higher the sensitivity setting, the better the camera is at
reducing blur in poor lighting conditions, however, high settings can result in
more noise in the recorded images. When Auto (1600), Auto (800), or Auto (400)
are selected, the camera will automatically set the sensitivity up to a maximum
of 1600, 800, or 400, respectively.
White Balance:
White balance is used to preserve natural colors under different types of
lighting. You can select
Auto, Direct Sunlight, Shade, "Daylight" fluorescent lamps, "Warm White" fluorescent
lamps, "Cool White" fluorescent lamps, Incandescent light, or
Underwater (for underwater subjects in an aquarium).
Exposure Compensation: You
can alter the exposure from the value suggested by the camera, making pictures
brighter or darker. You can adjust the exposure a total of 13 steps from -2.0 to +2.0 EV in 1/3
EV steps. Exposure compensation is available in the Program AE and Aperture
Priority shooting modes only.
Continuous Shooting: You can capture motion in a series of
pictures using the Continuous Shooting mode. The camera takes up to 40 pictures
at up to two 3D frames or one 2D frame per second while the shutter button is
pressed. A high-speed mode is available for 2D pictures only at up to 3 fps. The
frame rate varies with the shutter speed.
Self-timer: The camera gives you the choice of a standard
10-second timer (to allow the photographer to appear in the picture) or a 2-second self timer
to use on a tripod to avoid blur caused by pressing the shutter button. The
self-timer is available in all shooting modes.
Auto Focus: In most cases, the Real 3D W3 uses contrast-detection
TTL (through the lens) Auto Focusing. The camera will automatically focuses on
the subject in the center of the frame when the shutter button is pressed
halfway. The AF area can be set to Center (camera focuses on the subject in the
center of the monitor) for 3D and 2D pictures or Auto Area for 2D images only.
Focus Range: The camera's focus range is approximately 2'
to infinity (normal mode). In the Macro 2D mode,
the focus range is approximately 3.6" to 2.6' (wide angle) and 2' to 9.8'
(telephoto). In Macro 3D mode, the range is 1.2' to 2.3' (W) and 3.6'-7.5' (T).
Recommended Shooting Range (3D): When shooting in 3D, the
recommended shooting distance is approximately 4.3' to infinity (wide angle),
and 13.5'-infinity (telephoto). The recommended shooting range is the same,
whether the Auto Parallax is on or off.
Super Intelligent Flash: The
FinePix Real 3D W3 has a built-in flash with an effective range of 2' to
11.8'
(wide angle), 2' to 10.2' (telephoto). For Macro mode (2D only), the flash range
is 1' to 2.6' (wide) and 2' to 4.9' (telephoto). A Red-eye Reduction mode is
available for each flash mode which minimizes the red-eye effect caused by the
flash reflecting in the subject's retinas. You can choose from the following flash modes:

Auto: flash fires
automatically as required by the shooting conditions

Forced Flash:
flash will fire whenever a picture is taken. A forced flash with red eye
reduction is also available.

Slow Synchro: auto flash combined with slow shutter speeds (tripod recommended)
-
Suppressed Flash: the flash will not fire, even in poor
lighting conditions
Light Metering:
The Real 3D W3 uses 256-segment, TTL (through-the-lens) metering, where the camera
automatically assesses the scene and selects the optimum exposure. You can set
the metering mode to Multi, Spot, or Average.
FinePix Color: You can enhance contrast and color
saturation, or take pictures in black and white. The FinePix Color
function lets you select the following:
- F-Standard: standard contrast and saturation; recommended in most
situations
- F-Chrome: vivid contrast and color saturation; select for vivid
shots of flowers or enhanced greens and blues in landscapes. Available only
in selected shooting modes.
- F-B&W: takes pictures in black & white
Viewing Images: Images can be
played back one-at-a-time or in a variety of multi-frame views. Multi-frame
options include a 5-frame cascading display (two previous and two following
frames cascaded behind the highlighted image), 9-image grid (3 x 3)
and a 100-image grid (10 x 10) of micro-thumbnails. In the 9- and 100-image grid
views, the highlighted image is slightly enlarged.
Viewing Images on a TV: To view 3D still images and movies
on a 3D-capable TV, you must connect the camera to the TV via a high-speed HDMI
cable (mini-HDMI to standard HDMI). You can select a display format for the HDMI
output (3D, Side-by-side, or 2D), depending upon the capability of your TV. For
non-HD TVs, you can connect the camera to the TV via an optional A/V cable
(AV-C1 from Fujifilm). 3D images will be displayed in 2D.
Other 3D Viewing Options: In addition to viewing on a 3D TV,
you can enjoy your 3D images (still images only) on Fujifilm's FinePix Real 3D
V1 3D Digital Viewer. In addition, Fujifilm's High Resolution 3D printing system
can print 3D images directly onto special lenticular sheets.
Slide Show: You can view pictures in an automated slide
show. You can select a normal transition, or fade transitions between frames.
When playing back pictures with faces selected with Intelligent Face Detection,
the camera automatically zooms in on the faces. You can also choose to display
several pictures at once. The 3D Fade mode will display the images in 2D, then
fade them to into 3D.
Printing Pictures: With a PictBridge-compatible printer, you
can connect the camera directly via USB (cable supplied) and print pictures
without first copying them to a computer. 3D pictures in MPO format cannot be
printed in this fashion, although JPEG copies created when shooting in MPO+JPEG
can be printed in 2D.
Power Requirements: The
FinePix Real 3D W3 is powered by the supplied NP-50 Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery.
A fully-charged NP-50 is good for approximately 150 shots. The supplied BC-45W
battery charger will charge an NP-50 battery in about 150 minutes.
Auto Power Off Function: When
the camera is operated on battery power, the Auto Power Off function will automatically
turn off the camera to reduce the drain on the batteries if no
operations are performed for 2 minutes or 5 minutes, as set in the menu.
Regardless of the option selected, the camera will not automatically turn off
when connected to a printer or computer, or when a slide show is in progress.

USB Multi-Connector: The FinePix Real 3D W3 features a single proprietary jack for
connecting either the supplied USB
cable or the optional AV-C1 A/V cable. This one output allows you to download your photos to your
computer via USB (High-Speed 2.0 compatible) or view them on a TV with the optional A/V cable. With the optional HDP-L1 HD
Player, still pictures and movies on the SD card can be viewed on an HDTV.
Mini-HDMI: The camera has a mini-HDMI output for connecting it to an
HDTV. A mini-HDMI-to-HDMI cable (sold separately) must be used.
