Features
Drivers: The Energy EAS-6W rectangular in-wall speakers are equipped with the following drivers:
- Tweeter: 1" aluminum dome tweeter
- Woofer: 6-1/2" Injection-molded Homopolymer woofer
Surround: The woofer uses a NBR (Nitrile-Butadiene-Rubber) /
SBR (Styrene-Butadiene-Rubber) surround.
Speaker Terminals: The speaker has a pair of spring clip
terminals that
can accept pin connectors or bare wire up to 12-gauge.
High Frequency EQ: A switch on the EAS-6W's circuit board (on the back of the speaker) allows you to contour the high frequency output. The 0 (zero)
position maintains a flat, even frequency response, while the +3dB position will
increase the sound output to the tweeter. The +3dB position should be used in
rooms with excessive sound absorption material, such as thick carpet, drapes,
couches, etc.
Break-In Period: Energy recommends that you play the EAS-6W
for a 50 to 100 hour break-in period before playing at high volume and making final
sound adjustments. This is easily done by putting your compact disc player on
repeat mode while playing a CD with a wide dynamic range at normal listening
levels.
Mounting Options
Installation: The speakers can be installed in new or existing
construction; each speaker requires a cutout of 7-1/2 inches wide and 10-7/8"
high, and is held in place with
six plastic mounting clamps. The required depth to install the speaker is
3-1/4" from the mounting surface (this includes the thickness of the drywall).
Behind the opening there must be a 7/8" clearance around the speaker to
accommodate the mounting clamps. Speakers should be installed in drywall at least 3/8"
thick. A cardboard template is included to assist you in making the cutout.
Two-Part Procedure: The speakers install in two stages.
First, the speaker can be removed from the bezel, so that the bezel can be
installed into the prepared cutout using a Philips screwdriver to tighten the
mounting clamps. Once the bezel is installed, the speaker can be installed into
the bezel, and attached with the six flathead mounting screws (supplied) using a
Philips screwdriver.
Paintable: Both the bezel and aluminum grille can be
painted to match the wall; a cardboard paint mask is included.
