Features

Overview: The Boston Acoustics SR80 speakers are 5x7 component plate speakers. They include a 5" round woofer and a 1" tweeter mounted side-by-side on a 5 x 7 oval plate. This design gives you the excellent imaging and performance of separate component speakers with the "drop-in" convenience of oval coaxial speakers.

Tweeter: Each speaker has a type-S1 1" Kortec soft-dome tweeter for a smooth high frequency response and linearity. Kortec is a specially engineered material with the rigidity of a composite dome and the smoothness and detailed response of cloth. The contoured SR tweeter plane delivers superior on- and off-axis tweeter response compared to traditional coaxial designs.

Woofer: The SR80s are equipped with copolymer woofers with butyl rubber surrounds. Each woofer is equipped with a neodymium magnet, which has a high power-to-weight ratio and a compact size about one-tenth the size of traditional iron-ferrite magnets. The dual-stage aluminum heat sink is integrated into the motor structure to draw heat away from the voice coil increasing the power handling capability.

Crossover: Located behind the tweeter, the multi-element 2-way crossover delivers component level performance.
