Infinity

Who needs a powered subwoofer?

To produce bass, you need a sub, an enclosure, and an amplifier, and it can be little tricky to match them all up. A powered sub eliminates all the hassle, as the manufacturer designs the enclosure to house the sub and amp together. This all-in-one solution is especially useful in smaller vehicles, where there's no room to mount a separate amp, or in any vehicle where you need every bit of cargo space. Powered subs range from small, flat boxes that fit under your seat to larger boxes that go in your trunk.

Our take on the Infinity BassLink

You crave high-performance bass, but you don't want to use all of your available cargo space to get it. The master designers at Infinity put the same state-of-the-art technology that distinguishes Infinity speakers into the BassLink amplified subwoofer, so although it takes up just one cubic foot of trunk space, it'll produce resounding bass in any vehicle.

The BassLink brings together a 10" subwoofer, a 10" passive radiator (to increase efficiency and limit distortion), and an extremely efficient, specially designed 200-watt Class D amplifier that work as an integrated system. Special circuitry monitors voice coil position to maintain linearity at high power levels, so you hear loud, clear bass.

An array of controls will enable you to tweak your bass until it has just the thump you want. For optimum system blending, the low-pass filter is variable between 50-120 Hz (12 dB per octave), and a phase switch (0- or 180-degrees) is included. Adjust low bass impact with the bass EQ feature (-6 dB to +3 dB at 40 Hz). And you'll be able to put BassLink in a variety of in-vehicle locations, thanks to brackets that enable the rigid polymer box to be mounted vertically or horizontally. A wired remote with 16-foot cable allows you to adjust your BassLink's volume from your dash.

    BassLink LC Remote Level Control
    Inputs and Controls

    Features

Design: The BassLink brings together a 10" subwoofer (treated paper cone, foam surround), a 10" passive radiator (to increase efficiency and limit distortion), and an extremely efficient, specially designed 200-watt Class D amplifier that work as an integrated system. Special circuitry monitors voice coil position to maintain linearity at high power levels, so you hear loud, clear bass.

Enclosure Type and Materials: The enclosure is made of an acoustically inert polymer which is rigid enough to resist flexing and dampens any resonance.

Servo-Control: The servo-control system continually monitors the performance of the speaker and ensures that the amplifier delivers exactly the right amount of power.

Class D Amplifier: This unit has a built-in 200 watt Class D amplifier which is highly efficient and designed specifically for use with the subwoofer and passive radiator combination.

Auto Turn-On Feature: When the speaker level inputs are used, the system will automatically turn on and off with the radio. Note: The auto turn-on feature does not operate when the preamp level inputs are used, unless the remote turn-on lead is connected.

Low-Pass Crossover: The low-pass crossover frequency can be varied from 50Hz to 120Hz for a seamless transition between the output of this unit and that of the other speakers in the vehicle. The crossover has a slope of 12dB per octave.

Bass Boost: The amplifier includes a continuously adjustable bass boost from -6 to +3dB centered at 40Hz.

Phase Switch: Allows you to select normal or reverse for best bass.

Mounting: You will be able to put BassLink in a variety of in-vehicle locations, thanks to its compact size and mounting feet that enable the rigid polymer box to be mounted vertically or horizontally.

    • Vertical Mounting Dimensions:
      • Width: 14.625"
      • Height: 13.375" (including feet)
      • Depth: 8.675" (10.076" including feet)
    • Horizontal Mounting Dimensions:
      • Width: 14.625"
      • Height: 9.5" (including feet)
      • Depth: 12.75" (15.1875" including feet)

    BassLink LC Remote Level Control

Overview: The BassLink LC allows you to adjust the volume of BassLink powered subwoofer.

Installation: The BassLink LC may be mounted under the dash or may be dismantled and mounted inside the dash for a factory appearance.

    • Under-dash Mounting: Select a mounting location that allows easy, safe access to the control while driving. The BassLink LC has mounting "ears" to use as a template for drilling pilot holes. Attach screws through the "ears" to secure the BassLink LC to the mounting surface.
    • In-dash Mounting: Disassemble the BassLink LC by removing the Phillips-head screws on the front, rear, and top panels. Remove the bottom and side panels and disengage the RJ11 connector from the back panel. Choose a mounting location that allows easy, safe access to the control, and provides 1-3/4" clearance behind the mounting surface. Drill a 9/32" hole in the mounting surface. Feed the BassLink LC's potentiometer (with the knob removed) through the hole and use the nut provided to hold the control in place.
    • Connecting to BassLink: Route the cable behind the dash or other interior panels and under the carpet. Do not route the cable outside the vehicle. Connect the cable on both ends.

    Inputs and Controls

    Inputs:

    • Universal Interface: Front and rear, left and right Universal interface speaker-level inputs (for use with the supplied speaker-level input wiring harnesses)
    • Line Level RCA Inputs: Front and rear, left and right female preamp level inputs
    • +BATT (+12V): Gold-plated screw terminal, 0.350" wide
    • REM (remote turn-on): Gold-plated screw terminal, 0.350" wide
    • GND (ground): Gold-plated screw terminal, 0.350" wide
    • Fuse: There is an installed 20 Amp fuse
    • Remote Gain Control: Phone type jack for included remote gain control

    Controls:

    • Gain Control: Rotary control that sets gain (variable from 250mV to 4V)
    • Crossover Control: Rotary control that sets the low-pass crossover point (variable from 50 to 120Hz)
    • Bass Boost Control: Rotary control that sets bass boost level (variable from -6 to +3dB, centered at 40Hz)
    • Phase Switch: Selects normal or reverse phase (0 or 180 degrees)
    • Power LED: The power LED glows red when the BassLink is on
    • Servo LED: The Servo LED glows green when the servo circuit has determined that the woofer has reached maximum excursion and power to the woofer has been modified to provide maximum performance. The LED should light momentarily during high-level bass transients. Note: Avoid adjustments that cause the LED to remain lit for an extended period of time

    Infinity Bass Link

Written By Anonymous, San Mateo ca on Saturday, May 18, 2013
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This sub is perfect! I was looking for something to give a little bit more boom to my factory system and I decided on this. It gives a nice clear boom but its not too much or too loud. It's not even up all the way and it makes the car shake! I love it
    Pros:
    Sound Clear base

    Infinity BassLink

Written By Michael P., Houston, TX. on Wednesday, May 15, 2013

I purchased this subwoofer when I had my 2000 F250 in 2002. I still have the subwoofer and it has been in a Toyota Tundra and now resides in my '09 Scion XB. I have never had a problem with it and I can still rattle the windows with it. Easy to set up and sounds outstanding. I would definitley recommend this to any one with a fair amount of installation room. It can be installed standing on end or lying flat and works great either way. It has occasionally been utilized as a foot rest and its been droped once or twice when pulling it out of or installing in another vehicle and it keeps on going. The grill on the active woofer side is pressed in but it doesn't affect the sound.
    Pros:
Easy installation. Great sound. Very durable.
    Cons:
Can be bulky for those that don't have a lot of room. In my 2000 F250 it was in the rear and was used occasionaly as a foot rest by the kids. In the 2007 Tundra Crewmax, I removed the rear split bench seat to install it. (kids were grown up and married and I didn't need the extra seating.) Wahoo!

Have two of these. One in 95 BMW 325CI, The other in a 96 Chevy Lumina. Bought them for ease and simplicity of installation. Not into Rap, but love the thunder it gives Rock, or Country. If you are looking for same, this is the product to get. I have it set up with Infinity 5 1/4 Reference Speakers, Kenwood head unit, and 750 Watt Kenwood Amp. Works Great!
    Pros:
Really love the ease of quick install.
    Cons:
Wish it would fit under the seat of my Chevy Avalanche.

Good Bang for the Buck. This unit does give you some flexibility in terms of how much bass you can add. Would recommend it.
    Pros:
You can dial up how much bass you want. Easy to install and the instructions were easy to read.
    Cons:
None that I can think of. Need a few months before responding to this.

    Pricey for what it does

Written By neXscene, Minneapolis, mn on Monday, April 29, 2013

Manual clearly states that sub may be on for few mins after car engine is turned off. During this few minutes the sub makes an annoying humming sound. This is extremely annoying and loud. Bass sounds great for the size but NOT STRONG AT ALL. Only slightly better that most factory premium bass sound system. Not worth the money. Wouldn't recommend it.
    Pros:
Bass quality is great, space saving,
    Cons:
Not strong, about same as factory premium bass sound system, not loud,

    Great Subwoofer

Written By Tster251, Valdosta Ga. on Monday, April 22, 2013
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This unit was recommended by Crutchfield for my application. After studying all the reviews I decided to purchase this item. Boy I'm glad I did this thing sounds amazing. It's so crisp and clean and has plenty of bass. I have this installed in a Jeep Wrangler and it sounds great even with the top down. I don't understand those who don't think it provides enough bass because it will hit and cause my mirrors to jump. Setup was easy its basically plug and play with the RCA plugs just running and attaching wires. Thanks Crutchfield for the recommendation and as always excellent service.

Size of the unit and the Amazing sound

This thing is awesome for the price. Puts plenty of real bass in a small package. Only issue was putting on the supplied mounts. With screws this long and only 6-8mm diameter they can prove to be a challenge. Would recommend to anyone looking for that extra bass you won't get from your other speakers.

    Pretty much everything.

    Big bass,little package

Written By JJ, Sc on Saturday, April 20, 2013

Need cheap bass, but still want space and access to your spare tire? This is he one!! I was very skeptical at first but got a nice surprise. No,it doesn't compete with the high school kids down the block. What it does do is round out or in some cases drown out the other speakers. Enough bass to feel and rattle a little. Well worth the money.... Anyone giving this under 3-4 stars wants a huge box with 12's but thought this would give the same sound!

    Everything

infinity bass link - 08 altima coupe

Written By happy bumper, frederick, md on Saturday, April 20, 2013

i was looking for more bass with my after market speakers but wasnt looking to spend a ton of money. I began looking at this and a couple other units. i decided on this unit because of its size, the positive reviews, the price and because i knew infinity produces high quality products. now i wasnt looking to blow anything or anyone out of the water, it was more for personal enjoyment, but the sound this sub produces is perfect in my coupe and for that little extra punch the control knob is a great feature. for the price of the unit and the sound it produces i couldnt be happier. if youre not looking to disturb the peace, and just want that extra bass for your enjoyment, i highly recommend this unit.
    Pros:
easy install, basically plug and play after wires are ran (of course if you know what youre doing), fantastic sound (crisp, clear punches), remote knob is awesome when you feel like bumping a little harder
    Cons:
    nothing I can think of

    Go Get the Infinity Basslink

Written By Rajon J, Austin, TX on Wednesday, April 17, 2013
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I replaced the front and rear stock speakers in my 2010 Accord with Polk DXI's which sounded great but i did not really have any bass. The stock 8" subwoofer does not do much at all. I wanted some bass to round out my system. I was not looking for mirror shaking or trunk rattling. I wanted some nice bass to compliment my system that I could feel. The basslink was recommended to me. I was hesitant but read several reviews and thought i'd give it a try. The basslink is exactly what i was looking for. It is perfect. It delivers the right amount of bass that I can feel. I highly recommend it.
    Pros:
Small package, takes up minimal trunk space, easy to install, good sounding bass
    Cons:
    None that i have noticed

    Infinity Basslink- Chevy Prizm

Written By Anonymous, Milwaukee, WI on Tuesday, April 16, 2013
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I own a 2001 Chevy Prizm. I replaced the stereo with a Pioneer unit that I bought off of Crutchfield. I also replaced the four factory speakers with four 6 1/2 in. Pioneer speakers. Once I installed those speakers I was not satisfied by the bass that they produced. So I started looking for subwoofers. I decided that I wanted a powered sub because it was in my price range and would be easier to install than an amp and a sub. I looked at the Sound Ordnance B-8PT, Infinity BassLink and JBL GT-BassPro12. The more I researched the three of those the more I liked the Basslink. I wanted more bass than what the Sound Ordnance B-8PT offered but smaller than the JBL GT-BassPro12. So I focused on the Basslink. I read that many people said that it hit hard but some said that they did not notice a difference. Last week I decided to purchase the Infinity Basslink. I received it within 2 days which was very nice. I installed the Basslink in 2-3 hours with the help of watching videos prior to the installation. The installation went very smoothly. Now for the bass output. I am very satisfied with the output of the Infinity Basslink. I noticed that it did not hit as hard when I was just listening to the radio. But once I plugged in my iPod the Basslink was bumping. I mostly listen to my iPod so that is not a big problem for me. This is a must buy for those who want to improve the bass in their vehicle. It is reasonably priced and produces great bass for its size.
    Pros:
Easy to install Small Hits hard when listening to iPod
    Cons:
Not as much bass when listening to radio

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Elegant, compact design. Good sound. Quick installation, since I was replacing an identical Infinity Basslink unit that had died. That in itself is not a great recommendation, but the old unit did last about 5 years.
    Pros:
Compact. Lots of placement options to get it out of the way. Reasonable price.
    Cons:
The last Basslink I bought lasted only about 5 years.

Flawless performance for over 8 years

Written By dano, Omaha NE on Tuesday, April 02, 2013
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I've been reading the reviews of this unit complaining of poor quality and issues with blown speakers after short periods of time. I bought my Basslink in October 2004 and it has been pumping out tight, distortion-free bass ever since. I have to think that people who bought this thinking it was going break their car windows and rattle the fillings out their teeth ended up with the aforementioned problems because they were pushing it too hard. Distortion destroys speakers. If you want bass that's in proportion the the rest of the music and you don't push this thing too hard, I doubt if you will have problems like short lifespan. I can't sing the praises of my Basslink loudly enough. This unit has been a real trouper for me for more than 8 years and still sounds like new. It was a fairly easy install in my '98 Subaru Forester. Maybe Infinity changed something since I bought mine (it was $70 more in 2004).
    Pros:
Clean, tight bass Easy of installation Longevity (for me anyway)
    Cons:
None (based on my personal experience)

I put this in my Jeep Wrangler and it sounds amazing. Gave it the perfect amount of bass. Was very easy to install. When I take the top down I don't hear much bass..but I expected that. Anyway I would recommed this purchase to anyone. Don't go off the bad reviews...because hey everything has a bad review.
    Pros:
Easy to install. Will rattle the windows. No distortion.
    Cons:
I have no cons to say about this product.

My car, a 2005 Ford Crown Victoria, has 4 factory 6 x 8 speakers, which instantly means it has no bass. I mostly listen to rock and metal, so I was not looking for a ton of bass, just a little something to fill in the void down low that the 6x8's leave out. This did exactly that and even a little extra. I have it set perfectly to fill in the bass guitar and give me a good solid hit for the bass drum, and it's not even turned up all the way. With a little more work I could get it to sound pretty good for Dance/R&B etc if I so desired.
    Pros:
Easy to setup and install. Gives plenty of bass. Has good clean sound once you get it dialed in to your car and stereo.
    Cons:
None, but if you are looking to rattle your car apart and the fillings out of your skull, this is not for you.

    Fantastic Sub!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this unit as a value play, saving a few bucks, add a little base to my otherwise stock VW system. This unit is a fantastic performer and sounds OUTSTANDING. I am not a big base enthusiast, but this unit provides more than enough base for me. I set the three knobs in the middle(on the unit), and set the remote knob about 25%. The base added to the system is just outstanding. My 2001 VW Passat came with the Premium 5 radio w/ additional single DIN VW CD player. It also had the optional VW CD changer mounted in the trunk. I removed the stock 2-single DIN head units and replaced with a newer double-DIN VW Bluetooth enabled stereo/CD. I upgraded the speakers to Polk Audio separates in all 4 doors. The radio didn't push enough wattage for base. This Infinity Unit provides more base that I hoped. It really sounds great.
    Pros:
Not expensive, easily connected, not huge size, great sound, good name-brand company, comes with multiple brackets for mounting options... I use the speaker level inputs, although it does accept line level inputs.
    Cons:
I personally do not have any cons to list about the unit. I really love the unit. The only con is really for the Crutchfield adviser who didn't suggest this unit. I told him I was on a very strict budget. he said "no problem" and suggested an amp, subs + connection kit...well over $600 worth of stuff. I bought this as an open box for + a connection kit....all for very close to my budget.
