The SUBX1 boombox makes the perfect companion for your Sportster 4, Starmate 4, or Stratus satellite radio. Enjoy SIRIUS programming on the beach, at a game, on your patio — wherever you go. Its clean, uncluttered look lends a touch of style wherever you use it.

The SUBX1 sports a high-performance 3-way speaker system. Separate tweeters and midrange speakers combine with a single subwoofer to provide dynamic full-range sound, while the built-in amplifier delivers strong performance.

While at home or at the office, power up the boombox with the included AC adapter. If you're on the go, you can operate the SUBX1 on eight "D" batteries (not included). Use the detachable windowsill antenna to optimize signal reception. You can listen to other audio devices through the SUBX1's auxiliary input.

    Overview: The SUBX1 portable satellite radio boombox is designed to interface with the SIRIUS SP4-TK1 Sportster (item 607SP4TK1), the SIRIUS SP5-TK1 Sportster (item 607SP5TK1), the SIRIUS Starmate Replay ST4-TK1 (item 607ST4), and the Stratus SV3 (item 607SV3) plug-and-play tuners. The boombox's built-in handle and built-in speakers give the plug-and-play receiver portability, allowing you to take the unit virtually anywhere.

     Note: For the system to work, you'll need a subscription to SIRIUS Satellite Radio in addition to the SIRIUS tuner.

    SIRIUS Satellite Radio: SIRIUS Satellite Radio features more than 120 streams of original programming beamed coast-to-coast, including 65 streams of commercial-free, digital-quality music, and news, talk, sports, entertainment, and children's programming.

    Note: Satellite radio service is available only within the continental United States. Service is not available in Alaska and Hawaii.

    Docking Adaptor: The boombox features a docking adapter that will allow it to work with ST or SV series SIRIUS satellite tuners.

    Auxiliary Input: This unit uses a front panel mini-jack input to let you connect additional audio components to the boombox.

    Headphone Input: The boombox features a front panel headphone jack out so you can listen to your SIRIUS satellite radio stations in privacy.

    Dynamic Sound: Full range sound is provided by a 2.1 speaker system with separate tweeters, midrange speakers and powerful subwoofer.

    Bass Enhancement: The unit feature bass enhancement technology that improves low end sound giving you better bass response.

    Antenna Storage: The antenna cradle and cable storage feature located on back of the boombox allows you to take your antenna with you.

    Power Options: The boombox can be operated on household AC current when the supplied AC adapter is used. The unit can also operate using 8 "D" batteries, allowing you to take it with you wherever you go. The batteries are automatically bypassed whenever the AC adapter is plugged into the unit.

    Antenna: The unit comes with a SIRIUS satellite antenna with a 19.5' cable. The antenna cable has a single SMB connector. You must place the antenna in a location that has a relatively clear view of the SIRIUS satellite paths. For convenience, the antenna can be mounted to the 4 pegs on the back of the unit. The antenna has the following dimensions: Width=2.57", Height=1.356" (3.645" with antenna raised), Depth=3.216".

    Note: SIRIUS has three satellites that fly in a figure-8 pattern that crosses the central U.S.. Antenna placement will depend upon where you live in the continental United States.

    We bought and installed this unit at our office for use with the overhead music system. Although placement of the antenna was the biggest issue, once an appropriate location was found, we have operated this radio 24/7 in good & bad weather with NO INTERRUPTIONS.

    A solid product with good sound, convenient AUX IN and HEADPHONE output. The antenna can be used attached to the unit for maximum portability, or detached for indoor use and placement.

    BoomBox Battery Killer

    If you're really going to use this as a "Portable" you need to be mindful that this radio takes 8 D Cell batteries every 7 to 8 hours, or roughly $10. in batteries with every 8 hours of use. Add that to the bill and this becomes a not so cheap battery killer radio.

    No way to adjust bass either and it over kills this radio's sound clarity

    Bought the Boombox to have by our pool. It is perfect for this and no problem with reception as it is outside. Sound is Great for the price of the unit.

    I have to warn you about reception, or lack there of. The boombox is high quality and has good sound, but reception is absolutely terrible! I bought it to listen to games but rarely use it now because reception is impossible to achieve-I will not renew my subscription. I tried every window and just got tired of getting up every two minutes to adjust the antenna. My cars have satellite and work fine even in the garage, but the boombox doesn't. Unfortunately, the antennas are not interchangeable either.

    This is an ok product. I use it with the Sportster 4 and use it in place of the home dock for that radio. However the reception is still a major issue for using it indoors. I have to keep it close to the windows to get mediocre reception. I also have an S50 which I rarely use because it is so tempremental. Buying the S50 first makes the boombox seem better than it actually is. However for now it is the most convenient way to listen to Howard

    I bought this boombox and SP4 for use in my UPS truck while out making deliveries. I hooked it up over my lunch hour and I must say that I am rather impressed. The subwoofer added to the boombox definately makes a difference and the overall sound is fantastic, especially for my needs.

    would I buy this boombox again?....Probably.
