Our Product Research Team
At Crutchfield, you'll get detailed, accurate information that's hard to find elsewhere.
That's because we have our own in-house Product Research team — they open the box,
verify contents, check the owner's manual, and record dimensions, features and specs.
We stay on top of new products and technologies to help people make informed choices.

Features
Dual Voice Coils: For
increased system flexibility, the woofer has two 2-1/2 inch 4-ohm voice coils.
When the voice coils are wired in parallel, the woofer presents
a 2-ohm load. When the voice coils are wired in series, the
woofer presents an 8-ohm load. In addition, each coil may be connected to a
different amplifier channel and each channel will see a 4-ohm load.
BART
Foam Surround: The BART surround has a large roll to
assure maximum cone travel. By increasing cone travel, the BART surround allows
the woofer to produce more bass.
Aluminum
Voice Coil Formers: The voice coil formers are aluminum for
highly efficient heat transfer. This allows the use of multiple layers of high
temperature copper windings for improved efficiency, and it improves power
handling by effectively dissipating heat away from the voice coil windings.
LXcursion
Stamped Basket: The Punch woofers use a durable and lightweight
stamped cold rolled steel basket. To help prevent the spider from hitting
the bottom of the basket ("soft bottoming"), the LXcursion basket
features a deep step that moves the physical boundaries of the basket further
away from the spider; this allows the cone far greater travel and, therefore
more bass, without soft bottoming.
Hyper-Extended
Pole Piece: The pole piece is extended in length to lower
distortion and provide better low frequency response by operating the voice coil
in a linear fashion throughout its travel in the magnetic field.
Vented
Bumped Back Plate: The back plate has been bumped to allow the
woofer more room for excursion without bottoming out. Additionally,
"Aerovent" cooling efficiently and quietly circulates cool air around
the voice coil. By keeping the voice coil cooler, power handling is improved.
CONsealer Gasket: A newly
designed front gasket conceals mounting screws and provides an airtight seal
between the woofer frame and the mounting surface. A better seal increases the
amount of bass due to the elimination of air leaks.
Rubber Magnet Boot: A black
rubber boot covers the exposed edge of the magnet structure to improve the
cosmetics of the woofer and protect the magnet during installation. The rubber
boot looks great when the woofer is mounted in an enclosure with a window that
allows you to see the back of the woofer.
Binding Posts:
The speaker terminals are spring loaded binding posts. The binding posts will
accept pin connectors or bare wire up to 10 gauge.
Specifications
Recommended Sealed Box
Volume: The sealed box volume range recommended by Rockford Fosgate is
0.9 cu/ft to 2.79 cu/ft. Within this range, the ideal size recommended by
Rockford Fosgate is 1.25 cu/ft, so this is the enclosure recommended by
Crutchfield.
Recommended Ported Box
Volume: The ported box volume range recommended by Rockford Fosgate is
1.75 cu/ft to 4.0 cu/ft. Within this range, the ideal size recommended by
Rockford Fosgate is 2.0 cu/ft, so this is the enclosure recommended by
Crutchfield. One 4" diameter x 10.75" long port should be used with a
2.0 cu/ft
enclosure. This tunes the box to 35 Hz.
Power
Handling: The woofer has two 4-ohm voice coils, and each coil
can handle up to 200 watts RMS (400 watts peak).
