The low-impedance design makes these speakers very efficient, so you'll get great results powering them with a factory or aftermarket stereo. The Kappa 462.9cfp 4"x6" plate speakers feature light, but stiff woven glass-fiber woofer cones that won't flex or distort. Large magnets keep the woofers running cooler by placing more steel close to the voice coils to act as a heat sink. The Infinity Kappa 462.9cfp are excellent speakers! I bought these speakers for my 98 Chevy Malibu's front doors before I bought a new stereo from Kenwood, and they didn't sound the greatest, but after installing the new receiver these Infinity's really shined! My car is currently sending 50 watts to my Infinity speakers, and they sound awesome! The tweeters have amazing highs and the separate woofers hit hard. I am so proud of my current system and I can't wait to buy the Infinity rear deck speakers I'm looking at and a Kenwood amplifier! Happy with speakers themselves. They sound way better than stock. Not happy with fitment at all. Crutchfield says these are stock "DIRECT FIT" speakers for the front doors. Not the case. I have a 96 Caprice and the stock speakers screw to a plastic housing that is in turn screwed to the door. These Infinities do not fit in the housing with out extensive cutting of the housing do to the magnet size and a small circuit board. My car is mostly factory original and I didn't want to cut up original parts, which for these cars are getting harder to find, and was looking for a true direct replacement. The Crutchfield supplemental how-to instructions did not mention anything about modifying the housing either. Bad. It took me four hours to do a 30 minute speaker change. Fortunately I knew what to do, but for the guy who is only expecting what I did (WHICH WAS THAT THEY WOULD FIT) and only has the few tools the Crutchfield instructions say you need, is in for more than he bargained for. Lastly the speakers have a short whip coming off of them with a housed terminal block on the end of it to hook the speaker wires up to. Not a big deal if you have a way to secure it to the door. Double sided sticky tape would not work because of the door shell contour. I didn't want to just let it hang because it would bounce around and either make noise or cause some type of failure. Ultimately, I took the housing apart, drilled a hole, and screwed it to the door. It barely cleared the door panel. :( Pros: Sound great. Great speaker. Cons: The installation instructions and whether or not the speakers are really a direct fit needs to be clear. Was this review helpful? For these to replace rear speakers in my 2000 silverado. Given the rear speakers were both blown these made a huge difference. Now don't expect ANY bass from these speakers, I'm not sure how in the specs they can handle 75hz and actually sound good. Problem is unless you have a amp which I don't at this time then your stuck since my front speakers are 6.5 and can handle bass I don't want to turn my bass all the way down or turn on my filter. Down the road I see custom installing some 6.5 in the rear door to replace these "tweeters". I was replacing carpet too so it was much easier to get to everything. I'd suggest getting 8 to 12 stainless steel #10 x 1 inch self tapping screws. I used GOOP contact cement to attach the little thing hanging out.. not sure what it is. GREAT SOUND with just factory FM head unit. I'm going to 18watts RMS x four.. that will help too. Wouldn't recommend these if you plan on USING them for what they are made for, clear LOUD sound. I will say they were pretty clean while they were in working order, but they can't handle the bass that people are rating these for. Nothing you put there's going to be great because of their location and the fact that there's no enclosure, but compared to what was there I'm very happy. [Editor's Note: The adapter needed to install 4x6" speakers in the wrangler dash is no longer available. Although they are listed as not fitting my vehicle, I assure you they fit beautifully. I replaced the stock rear speakers with these. I am truly amazed at how crisp and clean they sound. The ability to attenuate the tweeter -3db can be used to adjust the highs to your own liking. The wire terminals are not your standard spade type, these use a screw in terminal similar to what you would see on an amplifier. Its a very strong connection. These are definitely a 5 star product. Features Plus One Woofer Cones: The Plus One speakers use cones having more surface area than other speakers of the same size. This is accomplished by using a new basket design and hi-roll surround. The Plus One design offers greater bass output and a significant increase in efficiency. Woven Glass Fiber Woofer Cones: This woven-glass-fiber material is very light and extremely stiff, minimizing cone flex. This results in very low distortion and improved clarity. Edge Driven MMD Dome Tweeters: Each speaker has an Edge-driven MMD (Metal Matrix Diaphragm) dome tweeter. The benefit is increased power handling and reduced distortion at high output. This technology also allows for better integration with the mid/woofer. The tweeter has an adjustable output level, +0 dB (flat) and -3 dB. High-Output Design: The high output 2-ohm voice coil design compensates for the high in-line resistance of small gauge factory wiring and extracts every watt from factory receivers, increasing overall system output and efficiency (relative to 4 ohm speakers). The speaker's 2.0-ohm impedance combined with the impedance of your speaker wire provides a true 4-ohm load to your connected headunit or amplifier. The speakers also benefit from increased power when you upgrade the wire and add aftermarket amplifiers, designed to power a 2-ohm load. Crossovers: Kappa speakers include computer-optimized, voice-matched crossovers, using audiophile quality air core inductors and polypropylene capacitors. The crossover slope is 18 dB/octave. Crossover Connections: Each crossover is connected to the speaker by a 6" wire. The input terminals are set screws that will accept up to 10 gauge bare wire. The Infinity Kappa 462.9cfp are excellent speakers! I bought these speakers for my 98 Chevy Malibu's front doors before I bought a new stereo from Kenwood, and they didn't sound the greatest, but after installing the new receiver these Infinity's really shined! My car is currently sending 50 watts to my Infinity speakers, and they sound awesome! The tweeters have amazing highs and the separate woofers hit hard. I am so proud of my current system and I can't wait to buy the Infinity rear deck speakers I'm looking at and a Kenwood amplifier! Happy with speakers themselves. They sound way better than stock. Not happy with fitment at all. Crutchfield says these are stock "DIRECT FIT" speakers for the front doors. Not the case. I have a 96 Caprice and the stock speakers screw to a plastic housing that is in turn screwed to the door. These Infinities do not fit in the housing with out extensive cutting of the housing do to the magnet size and a small circuit board. My car is mostly factory original and I didn't want to cut up original parts, which for these cars are getting harder to find, and was looking for a true direct replacement. The Crutchfield supplemental how-to instructions did not mention anything about modifying the housing either. Bad. It took me four hours to do a 30 minute speaker change. Fortunately I knew what to do, but for the guy who is only expecting what I did (WHICH WAS THAT THEY WOULD FIT) and only has the few tools the Crutchfield instructions say you need, is in for more than he bargained for. Lastly the speakers have a short whip coming off of them with a housed terminal block on the end of it to hook the speaker wires up to. Not a big deal if you have a way to secure it to the door. Double sided sticky tape would not work because of the door shell contour. I didn't want to just let it hang because it would bounce around and either make noise or cause some type of failure. Ultimately, I took the housing apart, drilled a hole, and screwed it to the door. It barely cleared the door panel. :( Pros: Sound great. Great speaker. Cons: The installation instructions and whether or not the speakers are really a direct fit needs to be clear. Was this review helpful? Yes | No

For these to replace rear speakers in my 2000 silverado. Given the rear speakers were both blown these made a huge difference. Now don't expect ANY bass from these speakers, I'm not sure how in the specs they can handle 75hz and actually sound good. Problem is unless you have a amp which I don't at this time then your stuck since my front speakers are 6.5 and can handle bass I don't want to turn my bass all the way down or turn on my filter. Down the road I see custom installing some 6.5 in the rear door to replace these "tweeters". Pros: Would be good with a 4channel amp to filter out the lows and with a sub Better than stock Cons: No bass response, barely any mid range response without spitting and sounding horrible Was this review helpful? I was replacing carpet too so it was much easier to get to everything. I'd suggest getting 8 to 12 stainless steel #10 x 1 inch self tapping screws. I used GOOP contact cement to attach the little thing hanging out.. not sure what it is. GREAT SOUND with just factory FM head unit. I'm going to 18watts RMS x four.. that will help too. Written By Bizzle, Texas on Saturday, June 04, 2011 I had these speakers for about a year and a half with a 50x4rms kicker amp on them. can't remember the 6 1/2's im running in the front but I have these in the back, and with the amp at half power, they blew last weekend after letting them play at the beach for 2-3 hours. Wouldn't recommend these if you plan on USING them for what they are made for, clear LOUD sound. I will say they were pretty clean while they were in working order, but they can't handle the bass that people are rating these for. When I purchased these, I wanted to add a litttle clearer sound. I was planning to add a 10" sub and amp to fill out the bass but after i installed these (Crutchfield install instructions ROCK!) I was so surprised that I decided to pass on the sub. I have never had clearer sound! I coupled these with a pair of Kenwood 6 1/2 front speakers and a Kenwood KDC-X493 receiver and I am completely thrilled with the sound! I ve had these speaker for a while now and they are perfect. They provide the clearest sound imagineable. They are a bit expensive but they are worth every penny. I put them in the back door of a four door 01 ext cab gmc sierra. there was enough space in there to upgrade to bigger speakers but that would of been a custom job.The mids and highs are all there. I replaced the factory speakers in my 2000 Jeep Wrangler. The factory speakers were pretty much useless. You couldn't even tell they were there. The new Infiniti's are a huge improvement. Nothing you put there's going to be great because of their location and the fact that there's no enclosure, but compared to what was there I'm very happy. [Editor's Note: The adapter needed to install 4x6" speakers in the wrangler dash is no longer available. Although they are listed as not fitting my vehicle, I assure you they fit beautifully. I replaced the stock rear speakers with these. I am truly amazed at how crisp and clean they sound. The ability to attenuate the tweeter -3db can be used to adjust the highs to your own liking. The wire terminals are not your standard spade type, these use a screw in terminal similar to what you would see on an amplifier. Its a very strong connection. These are definitely a 5 star product.
