Features
Overview: The Mirage OMD-15 is a
slender tower speaker that uses sophisticated driver technology,
Mirage's exclusive OMNIPOLAR technology and elegant cabinet design to make the
speaker ideal for the listener who has floor space for a full-range tower
speaker. The speaker is available in a Gloss
Rosewood and Gloss Black finish.
Note: The speaker is sold
individually; not as a pair.
OMNIPOLAR Technology: This
technology radiates
sound in a perfectly spherical dispersion pattern, expanding the sweet spot to
encompass virtually the entire room.
OMNIGUIDE Design: The design
consists of a conically
shaped cylinder that is responsible for reflecting sound in a perfect 360 degree
pattern. This unique design guarantees the same tonal balance and dispersion
characteristics no matter how and where you mount the speakers.
Applications:
The OMD-15 is a versatile tower speaker because it is full-range and can be used
as a front main or surround speaker. You can use this speaker to help create a
complete home theater speaker system or a dedicated 2-channel stereo setup.
Voice Matching: This speaker can be
matched up with Mirage's OMD-C1 or OMD-C2 center channel, Mirage's OMD-28 floor standing speakers,
Mirage's OMD-5 bookshelf/satellite speakers, and Mirage's OMD-R rear surround speakers to create a home theater speaker
system.
Note: The Mirage OMND-S10 subwoofer
for Home Theater application when using the OMD-15 speaker is recommended.
Video Shielded: The speaker is magnetically shielded so you can even place
the towers close to your
television without distortion.
Drivers: The drivers used in
the OMD-15 are as follows and are separated into two cabinets (one sealed
cabinet and one ported cabinet):
- Sealed Top Section:
- Tweeter: Floating above
the midbass is a precisely angled cast aluminum OMNIGUIDE module that houses
the speaker's proprietary 1" PTH tweeter.
- Midbass: The speaker
features a 5.5" poly titanium deposit hybrid midbass driver located on top
of the cabinet.
- Passive Radiator: The
speaker also uses a 5.5" passive radiator midbass for added midrange which
is mounted above the woofer and is front firing.
- Ported Bottom Section:
- Woofer:
The speaker features a 5.5" poly titanium deposit hybrid woofer with a ribbed elliptical rubber
surround mounted in the front of the cabinet and is front firing.
Enclosure: The cabinet is made of very solid inert medium density fiberboard (MDF) which creates a solid,
flex-free cabinet which eliminates music altering distortion. The enclosure is
divided into two sections. The enclosure uses a sealed section at the top of the
cabinet for the Tweeter, Midbass driver and Midbass passive radiator to provide
clean and accurate reproduction of high and midrange frequencies. The bottom
half of the cabinet uses a down firing port design used to help the front-firing
subwoofer produce louder, lower frequencies.
Foot Print: The tower speaker
is attached to a platform base which the down firing port fires against. The
speaker comes supplied with spike feet if the OMD-15 tower speaker will be
resting on carpet. The footprint of the speaker without the spikes measure
9.909" wide x 12.312" deep. The spike feet footprint measures 7.9375" deep x
7.25" wide1 x 5" wide2 (the base tapers front to back).
Speaker Terminals: The OMD-15
uses high quality gold-plated bi-ampable binding posts located on the rear of the speaker. The terminals will accept a wide range of
connector type including spade lugs, banana plugs or pin type connectors. The
versatile speaker terminals allow you to connect the OMD-15 speaker in the
traditional method or Bi-Wire or Bi-Amplification method.
