Driver Technology
Stereo Input: The Energy RC-6Cst stereo input in-ceiling
speaker can be used in locations where mounting multiple speakers is not
practical. The dual spring post terminals accept signals from both left and
right channels; the dual voice coil woofer sums the low frequencies from the
stereo input to mono and the coaxially mounted dual-tweeter array reproduces the
left and right channels independently.
Bipole/Dipole Design: In addition to stereo inputs, the RC-6Cst
can be wired as a single channel bipole or dipole speaker. When in dipole or bipole
mode, typically used for rear channels in a home theater application, only one pair
of speaker wires is used and the two input terminals are shorted together with the
included jumper wires. A switch on the RC-6C's frame, behind the grille, specifies
the phasing (bipole vs. dipole internal wiring).
Sensitivity:
- Stereo: 87 dB
- Mono: 92 dB
Drivers: The RC-6Cst is equipped with the following drivers:
- Tweeter: two 3/4" aluminum dome
tweeters, independently mounted on a swiveling bridge; they
can be angled separately +/- approximately 25°
- Woofer: 6-1/2" Kevlar cone woofer;
uses a ribbed elliptical surround
Surround: The woofer uses a patented Ribbed Elliptical Surround;
by changing the shape of the speaker surround to an ellipse, rather than the traditional
half roll, distortion is reduced and the maximum excursion is increased.
Break-In Period: Energy recommends that you play the RC-6Cst
for a 100 hour break-in period before playing at high volume and making final
sound adjustments. This is easily done by putting your compact disc player on
repeat mode while playing a CD with a wide dynamic range ant normal listening
levels.
Connections
Speaker Terminals: The speaker has two pair of spring posts that
can accept, pin connectors, single or dual banana plugs, or bare wire up to 12-gauge
wire.
Mounting Options
Paintable: Both the plastic frame and aluminum grille can be
painted to match the ceiling; a cardboard paint mask is included.
Installation: The speaker can be installed in new or existing
construction; it requires a cutout diameter of 8 inches and is held in place with
four integral plastic mounting ears. The required depth to install the speaker is
5" from the mounting surface (this includes the thickness of the drywall).
Behind the opening there must be a 7/8" clearance around the speaker to
accommodate the ears. Speakers should be installed in drywall at least 3/8"
thick. A cardboard template is included to assist you in making the cutout.
