Features
System Overview: The JBL OnBeat Xtreme speaker dock provides high
quality sound for your iPod, iPhone, iPad, or other Bluetooth-enabled device.
Built-in Bluetooth technology lets you play and control your music wirelessly
from anywhere within a 30' radius. You can wirelessly stream high-quality audio
and even handle phone calls. The JBL OnBeat Xtreme's rotating dock connector
lets you orient your iPod, iPhone, or iPad device with its screen in portrait or
landscape mode. The included USB cable connects the JBL OnBeat Xtreme dock to
your computer so you can charge and synchronize your iPod, iPhone, or iPad
device with your iTunes library.
High-Output Digital Power: The JBL OnBeat Xtreme docking
station utilizes a powerfully tuned digital amplifier rated at 15W x 2ch
(tweeters) + 30W x 2ch (woofers), for high-output, crystal-clear sound.
Two-Way Speaker System: The JBL OnBeat Xtreme employs two JBL Atlas
woofers and two JBL Ridge tweeters for accurate, detailed sound. The speaker
system has a frequency response of 47 Hz to 22,000 Hz.
EQ Settings: The JBL OnBeat Xtreme dock has 5 equalizer (EQ) modes
that adjust the tone quality to suit different types of programs. You can choose
from Music, Movies, Chat, Internet Radio, or Game.
Built-in Bluetooth: The JBL OnBeat Xtreme is equipped with built-in
Bluetooth (ver. 2.1 + EDR). The JBL OnBeat Xtreme system is compatible with most
Bluetooth-enabled devices; including music players, cell phones, and laptops.
Enabled with Bluetooth A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile), AVRCP
(Audio/Video Remote Control Profile), and HFP (Hands-Free Profile), the system
can stream high-quality sound and serve as a speakerphone.
- Bluetooth Audio Streaming (A2DP/AVRCP): The JBL OnBeat
Xtreme supports Bluetooth profile (A2DP/AVRCP) for wireless audio streaming
from a compatible Bluetooth enabled device. You can now listen to music
store on or streamed to your Bluetooth enabled device through the OnBeat
Xtreme speaker system. The OnBeat Xtreme provides Play/Pause, Fast
Forward/Rewind, Skip Next/Previous control for your streamed music.
- Bluetooth Speakerphone (HFP): The JBL OnBeat Xtreme
also supports Bluetooth profile (HFP) for hands-free communication between
your iPhone or other Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone. The OnBeat Xtreme
features a built-in microphone, plus Answer/End button so you can use the
OnBeat Xtreme as a hands-free speakerphone. During an incoming call, the
speakers will automatically mute any music playing. To make a call, you will
still need to dial out from your mobile phone.
Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology,
some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or
may not support all features when used with the JBL OnBeat Xtreme.
Apple Device Dock Connector: The JBL OnBeat Xtreme's
integrated dock lets you play and control music directly from many docking
versions of iPod, iPhone, and iPad. The JBL OnBeat supports audio playback,
video output, menu navigation, and charging of select iPods, iPhones, and iPads.
You will continue to use your iPod, iPhone, or iPad's LCD screen to view
song/artist information and Album art (the JBL OnBeat has no LCD screen). The
JBL OnBeat has been certified "Made for iPod/iPhone/iPad" compatible and
supports the following iPod/iPhone/iPad model functions (as of December 2011):

Note: Apple iPod/iPhone software updates may change
functionality results. If you download a newer software version, you may
need to reset the device and your iPod/iPhone to regain functionality. If
this doesn't work, you may need to revert to the older software version or
wait until an newer software update is available.
iPod Adapter Clips: The JBL OnBeat Xtreme speaker dock
includes two adapters; one for an iPod touch/iPod classic/iPhone device, and
another for an iPad device (the iPod 5G and iPod nano models do not require an
adapter clip). The adapters allow you to dock units with or without 3rd-party
skins attached.
Rotating Dock: When an iPod, iPhone, or iPad device is
docked in the JBL OnBeat Xtreme speaker dock, you can rotate the dock either a
Portrait mode or Landscape mode. To rotate the dock to the landscape mode, turn
it 90-degrees counterclockwise. To rotate it back to the portrait mode, turn it
90-degrees clockwise. The dock will hold in place at the portrait and the
landscape positions.
JBL OnBeat App: The JBL OnBeat application is downloadable for free
from the iTunes App Store. It features a music browser, an alarm clock, and EQ
functions that lets you select the best sound for your music, movies, game,
chat, or Internet radio.
Composite Video Output: A rear-panel composite video output
displays video content stored on your iPod, iPhone, or iPad onto your connected
television. Composite video cable sold separately.
Note: When you dock your iPod, iPhone, or iPad device on
the JBL OnBeat Xtreme speaker dock, its video output will automatically be
set to Off, even if it was turned On before you docked the device.
Simple Controls: The JBL OnBeat Xtreme features side-panel
controls and includes an IR remote control for simple operation.
- Side-Panel Controls: Convenient side-panel controls let you
power on the system, select source type, raise or lower the volume, and
answer/end Bluetooth phone calls.
- IR Remote Control: The included IR remote control navigates
iPod, iPhone, and iPad menus from up to 15 feet away. Using the included IR
remote control, you can navigate your songs, playlists photos and videos, change
tracks and system settings, and much more.
Note: You can also continue to use your iPod, iPhone, or iPad's
clickwheel/touchscreen controls.
USB Port: The JBL OnBeat Xtreme is equipped with a
rear-panel USB (type-B) port which allows you to connect the iPod, iPhone, or
iPad to your computer and sync the device to iTunes; without ever having to
remove it from the speaker dock. USB cable included.
Note: Before attempting to synchronize your iPod/iPhone/iPad
device with your iTunes library, be sure that both your iPod/iPhone/iPad
device and your iTunes library are updated to the latest software version.
Firmware Upgrade: The JBL OnBeat Xtreme has upgradeable firmware that
lets you take advantage of new features and improvements as they become
available. Go to www.jbl.com for more
information about checking the unit's firmware version and instructions on
upgrading to a newer firmware version.
Auxiliary Input: The JBL OnBeat Xtreme also features a rear-panel 3.5mm
auxiliary input for connecting an external audio source, such as your iPod
shuffle or other portable MP3 player. Audio cable sold separately.
Note: If you play audio through a docked iPod, iPhone or
iPad device and an audio source connected to the Auxiliary In connector at
the same time, you will hear both of their outputs mixed through the JBL
OnBeat Xtreme speaker dock. To hear only one source, you will need to turn off the
other source (the one you do not want to hear) manually.
Evercharge Topology: The JBL OnBeat Xtreme charges your
Apple iPod or iPhone device while docked. When plugged into AC power, the JBL
OnBeat Air dock will charge your iPod or iPhone without a computer connection,
even when the system itself is turned off.
Note: The JBL OnBeat Xtreme speaker dock may not charge a
docked iPad device via the USB connection to a PC. If the iPad device
charges when it is connected directly to the PC via USB, it will charge
while docked on the JBL OnBeat Xtreme speaker dock. If the iPad device does
not charge when it is connected directly to the PC via USB, it will not
charge while docked on the JBL OnBeat Xtreme speaker dock.
