Metra

This vehicle-specific wiring harness makes connections between your new car stereo and your car's electrical system.

First, attach the color-coded wires on your Crutchfield harness to the wires from your new stereo. If you don't know how to use a soldering iron, we recommend that you purchase some wire connectors that you'll use to attach the Crutchfield harness to your factory harness.

Now, once this harness is connected to your new stereo, you'll be able to plug right into your car's factory radio connector. This harness makes installing your new stereo easier, and allows you to put the factory radio back when you sell your vehicle or return it at the end of the lease. A detailed instruction sheet comes with the harness. Warranty: 60 days.

Please read this important note: This harness may not contain provisions for every wire needed to complete your installation, and it will not accommodate special navigation, video, or factory steering wheel control connections. You will need a special adapter if you want your factory steering wheel audio controls to work with your new stereo.

Note: Most vehicles will require additional installation parts — please identify your vehicle if you haven’t done so, then check here for a list of parts. You can also call an Advisor for more information.

Features

Crutchfield Wiring Harness: Crutchfield wiring harnesses prevent you from having to cut your vehicle's factory radio plug when replacing your factory radio with an aftermarket head unit. Simply solder or crimp the Crutchfield wiring harness to your aftermarket head unit's harness (solder & crimps not included), plug the aftermarket head unit's plug into the rear chassis of the aftermarket head unit, and plug the Crutchfield wiring harness into your vehicle's factory radio plug.

Note: Installation tools, hardware, & accessories are not included & sold separately. Please see the Accessories tab for recommendations & availability.

Wiring Notes: If the Crutchfield wiring harness is not equipped with a ground wire, you will need to ground the aftermarket head unit's ground wire to the metal chassis of your vehicle. Some vehicle's may require you to bypass the vehicle's factory amplifier (in another location from factory radio) or hardwire certain connections. If your vehicle is equipped with factory steering wheel controls, an additional adapter is required & sold separately.

First time Install

Written By Liskrig, Mass on Monday, May 20, 2013
Installed in a 2009 Nissan Versa
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I've never attempted to install a radio in my car before. This is a nice product for a beginner like me, the wires are pre cut (cut, and pulled a bit) which made the actual wiring of the harness to the receiver very fast as I only had to stip one set of wires. The harness fit very well into the plug, and does not feel like it will ever come loose (even on Mass roads). Great product from a company that stands behind their name.
Pros:
Good quality pre-cut/stripped solid fit
Cons:
none really

Almost Perfect

Written By Kyle B, Fogelsville, PA on Thursday, May 16, 2013
Installed in a 2009 Subaru Impreza
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Works perfectly and made the after market install VERY easy. After having done several of these installs, I wish they also included the pins for the steering wheal controls as that would make the install even smoother, provide a better connection option, and help minimize the amount of wire work that has to be done while in the car (can be done ahead of time outside of the car).
Pros:
Moves much of the wire work outside of the car at a desk where it's more comfortable to work. Makes the install much easier. Easy to convert back to factory/no permanent alterations.
Cons:
Doesn't cover steering wheal controls too.

Does not contain ALL pins

Written By SubieCubed, Central PA on Thursday, May 02, 2013
Installed in a 2011 Subaru Impreza WRX
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It confuses me why they wouldn't just include all pins for this harness. I know some people wouldn't need them all but they could just tape those wires off. Instead they only include the basic pins and make it a pain in the "you know what" for the people that need those extra wires.
Pros:
Made hooking up the speakers and power simple
Cons:
Does not contain the pins for the steering wheel controls. I had to splice into the factory harness to hook up the steering wheel controls :'(

Super easy. Second installation I've used from crutchfield.
Pros:
EASY.
Cons:
The only confusion I had was to combine the two wiring diagrams from two instructions. But I don't know how else they would do it.

just what I needed

Written By David B., southwest VA on Tuesday, March 12, 2013
Installed in a 2008 Nissan Frontier
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The wire colors even matched the ones on my Alpine head unit's harness. Plugged in fine to the Nissan vehicle-side connector (had to push the locking tab down to get the two to go together, but it popped back up into place like it's supposed to). So nice to have removable harnesses that you can take inside and solder on a bench (assuming your head unit has a removable harness, which mine does).
Pros:
wire colors, perfect fit
Cons:
none

Could be better

Written By Anonymous, Lincoln, NE on Sunday, February 10, 2013
Installed in a 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STi
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The wiring harness fits like it should, but if they would have included two more wires in the harness, I could have tapped my steering wheel controller into the wiring harness extensions, instead of splicing into the main harness. Two simple wires would have made this product awesome, but instead the ports in the plug were left empty.

Harness

Written By Frank, DFW on Thursday, January 24, 2013
Installed in a 2012 Nissan Frontier
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The harness was easy to match up. I did get a little confused with the instructions, but once I talked to a Tech it was easier than I expected
Pros:
Everything
Cons:
The harness instructions a little confusing. The instructions state the colors of the wire might not match but after speaking to a Tech the wires matched up by color.

Receiver Wire Harness

Written By JJ, Damascus MD on Thursday, January 17, 2013
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I missed this in the detailed info, even though they mention needing a 3rd party module to maintain steering wheel controls, this harness adaptor doesn't include the wires in the plug, so you'll still need to tap into the factory harness.

If you're buying this for a Subaru, there is a better harness that includes the Steering Wheel Control wires, which I've now bought to avoid cutting the factory harness. As cheap as wire is, this harness should have wires in each plug even if it add a $1 or 2 to the price.

So easy

Written By Dave J., Morris Plains, NJ on Monday, December 31, 2012
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

When my receiver first came I jumped right in and started with the installation. I am really into installing my own stuff and pretty good at it. I couldn't understand why I was having problems. I could hear the radio, but the volume was very low. I called a tech at Crutchfield, and discovered I had received the wrong harness. He sent me the right one at no charge. Once it came I wired it up in 10 mins. I installed the stereo in 15 mins, and it worked like a charm. The harness was so easy because the color coding is so good. Everything matches up so easily. Crutchfield has been my source for car audio since the mid 80's.
Pros:
Super easy installation
Cons:
None

Does not Support SWC on 2012 Subaru Forester

Written By Pete_VT, Northwest Vermont on Sunday, December 23, 2012

Maybe for the basic installation it would be okay. It was the correct connector. My problem was the support for steering wheel controls. This harness is missing the necessary wires to accommodate the SWC controller I needed to use. I was instructed to tap into the wires on the back of the car connector. This kind of defeats the point of a wire harness. After a fairly simple search of the internet I was able to find a source for the needed harness. Unfortunately I had to pay for it and shipping.
Pros:
Correct connector
Cons:
does not support steering wheel controls.

Work on 2013 Subaru Forester W/O Nav

Written By cgerald1, Nashua, NH on Sunday, December 09, 2012
Installed in a 2012 Subaru Forester
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This DOES work on a 2013 Subaru Forester W/O NAV!! This harness requires a lot of force to get it engaged into the factor harness but it did all go together and worked fine. The pin outs are correct for the factor harness!! Overall I was very happy.
Pros:
All the pin outs were correct on the 2013 Subaru Forester W/O nav!!
Cons:
It would be really nice if they left the pins in for the Steer wheel controls. Its a pain having to splice into the factory harness.
