Radio Functions
AM/FM Tuner: The Tivoli Audio Model Three
is equipped with a Henry Kloss
analog AM/FM tuner for precise radio station tuning.
5:1 Analog Tuning Dial: To take full advantage of the AM/FM tuner's
high sensitivity and selectivity, the Model Three uses a precise analog tuning system
with a geared-down 5:1 ratio analog tuning dial for accurate, easy selection of
the maximum number of stations. The 5:1 tuning gear ratio provides easy,
accurate tuning.
AM/FM Antennas: The tabletop clock radio's internal FM and AM antennas
provide good reception in most applications. Locating the Tivoli Audio Model Three
near a window will provide better reception. The unit is also equipped with
an external FM antenna connection and comes with an external FM wire antenna to
provide better reception.
- Internal/External FM Antenna: An alternative to the
tabletop clock radio's built-in FM antenna, is the supplied indoor external FM
wire antenna or optional FM dipole antenna (sold separately). Also,
connecting your cable television 75-ohm coaxial cable to the radio's
external FM connection may provide clearer local FM reception; although you
must usually request activation of this service through your cable company.
- Internal AM Antenna: When listening to AM, rotate the
Model Three itself to align the internal AM antenna for improved reception.
Note: There is no external AM antenna connection.
Tuning Indicator: The Tivoli Audio Model Three
features a front-panel
LED tuning indicator. The LED tuning indicator illuminates amber and is
brightest when the best tuning has been achieved.
Note: Some listenable AM stations will not light the tuning
indicator and should be tuned by ear for the clearest signal.
Source Knob: The Model Three tabletop clock radio is equipped with a
4-position
source knob - AM, FM, Aux, and Off.
Audio Features
Wood Cabinet: The Tivoli Audio Model Three features a
furniture-grade, handmade, real-wood cabinet that is both beautiful and
acoustically inert.
Full-Range Driver: The Tivoli Audio Model Three
features a single top-firing, magnetically-shielded
3.0" full-range driver for great AM/FM sound.
Rear-Firing Port: The Model Three features a rear-firing port for added
efficiency and bass-response.
Volume Knob: The Tivoli Audio Model Three
features a rotary volume control
knob which operates the volume level for the unit's mono speaker and headphone
output.
Connections
Auxiliary Input: The Tivoli Audio Model Three
features a
rear-panel 3.5mm auxiliary input for connecting an external device (such as your CD
player or MP3 player), so you can listen to audio from the connected device
through the Model Three's mono speaker.
Mix Input: The Model Three's rear-panel 3.5mm mix input lets you connect
your computer's (or other device's) audio output to the unit, so you can hear
audio mixed-in with either the tuner or a connected auxiliary device. The volume
level of this input must be adjusted at the source.
Record Output: The
radio's rear-panel 3.5mm record output (fixed) lets you record
music from the built-in AM/FM clock radio to a connected tape-deck or CD recorder.
You can also use the Model Three's record output to the connect the AM/FM
tabletop clock radio to your home entertainment system.
Headphone Output: The Model Three radio is equipped with a
rear-panel 3.5mm
headphone output for connecting a set of stereo headphones for private
listening. Connecting headphones will mute the Model Three's mono speaker.
Subwoofer Output: The tabletop clock radio is equipped with a
rear-panel 3.5mm subwoofer output for adding an external powered subwoofer (sold
separately) to increase bass response.
Speaker Output: The unit's rear-panel RCA speaker output
lets you connect a companion right-channel speaker (sold separately from Tivoli
Audio) and switch the Model Three to stereo operation.
Note: The rear-mounted balance control should be kept in the
"left" position until the companion speaker is connected.
Placement: Placing the Model Three inside a bookshelf
or against a wall will enhance the bass as well as confine the speaker's output.
For best sound reproduction, allow the sound from the speaker to emit without
restriction. Do not place objects over the speaker grille and do not obstruct the
rear bass port.
Alarm Clock
Analog Clock: The Model Three features a quartz analog clock for
superb mechanical accuracy. The analog clock's fine quartz mechanical movement
provides accurate time keeping and compliments the analog tuning dial. The clock
face is lit by a single LED for nighttime viewing. The clock's illumination
cannot be turned off or adjusted.
Note: The clock operates off of a single "AA" alkaline battery, so
power failures will not affect the clock's accuracy.
Wake-up Timer: The Tivoli Audio Model Three features an
integrated wake-up timer. The Model Three's alarm can be set by rotating the
clock's bezel counter-clockwise to the desired wake-up time. You can wake up to
the AM/FM radio or the alarm tone, whichever you desire. If there is a power
failure at the wake-up time, the alarm will sound the wake-up tone instead of
turning on the radio.
Snooze: The Snooze function lets you silence the wakeup timer for
approximately 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, the wakeup timer will automatically
resume. The Snooze time is not adjustable.
Sleep Timer: The Model Three can be set to turn 'off' automatically
after approximately 20 minutes (fixed).
Power Requirements
AC Power Adapter: The Tivoli Audio Model Three
operates off of standard household AC current using the supplied AC power
adapter (Input: 120V AC / 60Hz 20W, Output: 12V DC /1000mA).
Battery Backup: The Model Three's clock operates off of a 1.5V "AA"
alkaline battery continuously, and this same battery also acts as a back-up. In
the event of a power failure, the battery back-up will maintain the clock's
operation and sound the wake-up tone if the alarm button is in the 'On'
position. The unit's clock face will not illuminate and the radio will not
operate during a power failure in order to conserve battery life.
Note: Check the battery's strength annually and only replace with
a 1.5V "AA" alkaline battery.
Front-Panel LED: The Model Three features a front-panel LED
which illuminates green when the unit's power is 'On'.
