    Specifications

    Features

Transmitter: The system comes with an RF transmitter that connects to an audio source via a mini-jack or left and right RCA audio jacks. The system also comes supplied with a 1/4" headphone adapter. The transmitter sends a 900 MHz signal to the headset, using one of three selectable transmission channels. The transmitter has an automatic On/Off function. The transmitter switches on and begins transmitting when it detects an audio signal, and will switch off if it detects no audio signal for 10 minutes. The transmitter also functions as a storage stand/charger for the headset when not in use.

Headset: The ear cups fit comfortably over your ears with a closed circumaural design that follows the ear's natural shape. The double headband's self-adjusting mechanism conforms to the curve of your head for a comfortable fit. The right ear cup has the volume dial and auto-tuning button, while the left ear cup houses the supplied rechargeable batteries. The headset has contacts that allow the installed battery pack to be recharged when the headset is placed on the transmitter.

Auto Power On/Off: The headset has a self-adjusting double headband with a built-in auto power on/off sensor. The headset automatically turns on when pressure is detected on the headband and turns off when no pressure is present.

Auto Tuning: The wireless headphone's Auto Tuning feature scans up and down the transmitter's 3-channel RF band to automatically tune in the clearest channel for the best reception of your audio signal.

Noise Reduction Technology: The MDR-RF970RK headphones provides enhanced clarity and sound with minimal transmission noise due to its built-in noise reduction technology.

Induction Charging: The transmitter charges the wireless headset through induction charging which requires no direct pin contact making connection simple.

NiMH Rechargeable Batteries: Power for the headset is provided by a rechargeable NiMH battery pack, giving you approximately 14 hours of use when fully charged. The supplied battery pack will need to be charged for 16 hours before initial use.

Note: The headset can use the supplied rechargeable battery pack, or commercially available AAA alkaline batteries. The headset is not compatible with any other model of rechargeable batteries.

Range: Depending on conditions, the headset has a maximum range of 150 feet.

    Head Phones

Written By Bob B, Minooka,Il on Friday, September 23, 2011
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The Head Phones do the job. The only problem I have is that the pastic from the head band to the ear muffs squeak everytime you move your head which is annoying

    Sony MDR-RF970RK

Written By Jana, Minnesota on Wednesday, September 07, 2011
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I got these headphones to watch TV in the bedroom at nighttime so I didn't disturb my husband or my disabled child. They work beautifully for this! The only thing is positioning my head on the pillow with these headphones so they don't fall off is the only downfall, but I make it work. I love the fact that they are SONY and a great product for the price. Would buy again if I ever needed to.

Product is good but Crutchfields tech service is the best

Written By JeanN, Vista, CA on Tuesday, June 28, 2011
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I ordered the Sony headset because we had previously purchased one for my Dad and it worked very well. Unfortunately, I was not able to get it set up properly until I called the tech service department at Crutchfields and talked to Chris. He was wonderful - he even went out on the Toshiba (my TV) website to help insure that all of the connections were made properly. Thanks again, Chris.

I ordered a set of these for my husband's birthday since he likes to watch TV late at night in bed. They have great sound quality, and now when I'm ready to go to sleep, he can put on the wireless headphones and keep watching without disturbing me. They arrived super quickly too....ordered one day and they arrived the next. Thanks Crutchfield!

The Sony MDR-RF970RK is an excellent choice for people wanting to go wireless. I purchased these headphones last month and I was very impressed with the performance.
The sound is great. The Audio is rich and Full. I could move freely throughout the house without any distortion. The layout of our home has large open areas and the sound travels from room to room. When using the Headphones I am not disturbing other members of the family. The automatic frequency control. works flawlessly The set also works off three channels and allows you to chooes the clearest sginal. If you are looking for quality sound at a modest price I would go with this set.

Very happy with the product. I`m using it in a 1200 man camp in tight space. The
tuning is the key. Just tuned to fine no popping & hissing. Only had for a
week. I would had gave it 5 stars, but had to tuned.

I purchased these for my father, who is hearing impaired, so he could hear the audio
from the television. They were a perfect purchase. The audio is full and rich. The
automatic frequency seek feature ensures they always have the strongest signal from
the base. The recharge cradle allows him to have a full charge the next time he uses
    them. Very nice overall.

    Sony Wireless Headphones

I bought the Sony wireless MDR-RF970RK Headphones for my wife for Chistmas. She
watches the television late at night when I'm trying to sleep. She turns the volume down
low, but it is still loud enough that the TV keeps me awake. With the Sony headphones
on, I can't hear a thing. My wife says she can hear the television when she goes into
another room with the headphones on. I LOVE the Sony wireless headphones!!!

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Right price and the product is a Sony. I did not go wrong with this purchase. It works as
expected and is more comfortable than my Jensen headphones which I had to replace
due to foam cushions deteriorating. The Sony headset blocks most of the background
noise in the room. That's a good or bad feature depending on whether or not you have
to listen to your wife. In that case, move one earphone off your ear. I purchased the
headset as my wife was complaing the TV was loud. I really like the rechargeable
battery feature. Hang it up on the cradle and it will always be ready for your listening
pleasure. No need to fuss with volume controls and tuning is automatic. This is a great
product for TV. If you want a range of sound with base and treble, I suggest you by a
    more expensive model.

Great....for a short period of time

Written By Joseph, Baltimore, MD on Wednesday, June 16, 2010
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I loved this headphones for the first week or so. I use them at work, so wanted wireless as I moved around my cubicle. Very easy setup, nice sound...the ocassional pop/hiss but nothing too bad. I originally liked the auto shut off when you take the headphones off.

Now for the bad. After a few weeks the battery would die after 1 hour. I would leave the headphones on the charger every night after work, listen for 1 hour then dead. I even replaced the rechargeable batteries with new ones and next day the same thing, dead after one hour.

The auto shut off which I orignally loved would not turn back on when I put the headphones on again. The headphones are a little bulky, but I could tolerate them if everything else continued to function correctly. Be warned: Coworkers will make air traffic controller or mickey mouse jokes.

I eventually sent back to crutchfield for a refund....so a word of advice: keep the box for a few months.
