About the Sony XM-SD46X
Sony's Xplod Specialty Series amps keep the sound strong all day long! MOSFET power supplies and output stages ensure you'll have a steady stream of power, even when the amp is subjected to high demand. Xplod amps are CEA-2006 compliant so you know the power ratings are a true measure of the amp's performance!
The versatile XM-SD46X 4-channel amplifier puts 60 watts RMS per channel at your disposal, plenty of power to rev up the full range speakers in your car. Need some bass, too? The XM-SD46X's rear channels can be bridged, to provide 150 watts of RMS power. The bass boost circuit (10 dB at 40 Hz) kicks up the lows when it's needed, and you can switch on the amp's variable high- and low-pass filters to keep the sound tight and crisp.
The speaker-level inputs allow for easy integration with any system, even a factory radio, and the preamp outputs simplify hooking up a second amp. The cool gray finish and blue lighting look great, and all four Specialty Series amps (XM-SD22X, XM-SD46X, XM-SD51X, and XM-SD61X) have exactly the same footprint a nice touch if you're planning a multi-amp installation!

Specifications
Overview: The XM-SD46X is is a four channel amplifier from Sony's Specialty series. The two sections of the amp are labeled front and rear. The front channels are not bridgeable, but the rear channels are, so the amp can be used in three channel mode.
Protection Circuitry: The Sony XM-SD46X amplifier has 3-way protection circuitry which protects the amplifier in the following cases:
- Thermal: Turns the amp off when the operating temperature is too high
- Short circuit: Turns the amp off when the speaker outputs are short-circuited
- DC Offset: Turns the amp off when the amp generates direct current
LED: The amplifier has an line of four LEDs on the top panel that glow blue when the amp is on. There is also an LED that lights red when the protection circuit is activated.
Front Crossover: The front channels of the amp have a high pass crossover, continuously variable from 50-300Hz, with a slope of 12dB/octave. You can turn the crossover off for full-range operation.
Rear Crossover: The rear channel crossover can be used as high pass or low pass. The crossover point is continuously variable from 50-300Hz, with a slope of 12dB/octave. You can turn the crossover off for full-range operation.
Bass Boost: For added low frequency performance, this amplifier has a bass boost centered at 40 Hz, variable from 0 to 10 dB.
Terminal Cover: The XM-SD46X comes with a protective cap that fits over the power wire terminal strip to help prevent accidental short circuiting.
Power/Ground Terminals: The power and ground screw terminals are 0.54" wide to easily accommodate 4-gauge wire.
Remote Terminal: The remote turn on screw terminal is 0.35" wide.
Speaker Outputs: Each speaker output screw terminal is 0.35" wide.
Speaker-level Input Harness: The amp comes with a speaker-level input harness with an 8-pin Molex plug. This allows you to easily connect the amplifier to a factory radio or a receiver without preamp outputs.
CEA-2006 Compliance: The specifications given by Sony for the XM-SD46X amplifier comply with the new CEA-2006 Amplifier Power Standard from the CEA (Consumer Electronics Association). All manufacturers who comply with the standard can display the CEA-2006 logo on their product.
RMS Power Rating: 65 watts x 4 into a 4-ohm load with an input voltage of 14.4 volts
Signal to Noise Ratio: 97 dBA (1 watt into 4 ohm load)
