Alpine

Our take on the Alpine RUE-M1RF

by Ken Nail
Alpine Authorized Online Dealer

The bright sun out on the water does more than give you a great tan — it also makes conventional IR remotes impractical, since the light interferes with the IR remote eye. Alpine solves that problem with the RUE-M1RF RF remote system. Plug the included RF receiver module into the steering wheel controls jack of your compatible Alpine receiver, then use the RF remote to control the receiver from up to 100 feet away.

Don't worry about losing your remote when you hit choppy seas. The remote comes with a mounting cup, and you can string it onto a lanyard using the built-in tabs. Best of all, it floats if you do accidentally drop it in the drink. If you're unlucky, or want spares on hand, extra remotes are available.

Highlights:

  • marine RF remote system for select Alpine receivers
  • remote range: 100 feet
  • remote floats if dropped in the water
  • warranty: 1 year
  • Our 60-day money-back guarantee

    Features

Overview: The Alpine RUE-M1RF Marine RF Remote Control Kit is compatible with Alpine headunits that offer the steering wheel remote-control input. The RUE-M1RF kits comes supplied with one RF marine remote control and an RF receiver that plugs into the steering wheel remote control jack of your compatible Alpine headunit. In addition to the supplied RF remote control, additional single remotes may be purchased separately, if needed (item# RUE-M1EX). You can program as many as eight remotes to work with the same Alpine headunit. The Alpine marine remote uses RF (radio frequency) technology so you can control your system with the remote from up to 100 feet away. The RUE-M1RF Kit's remote also has the ability to float and is water resistant. The RUE-M1RF Remote Kit comes with a mounting bracket that the remote can clip into to prevent it from getting tossed overboard in rough waters. You can also string the remote through an optional lanyard and hang it up to prevent loss.

nothing else sounds like an alpine. great remote. simple, straight forward hookup, everyone else is doing the "remote aiming technique", no aiming needed, just press the button.used with ida 305

    Boat-Remote

Written By Awboater, Michigan on Friday, January 23, 2009
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this remote for my iDA-X100. It works fine, after I discovered you
have to depress the "OFF" button to turn the unit on and off, while the
owner's manual sez to use the SRC button.

The switch membrane also seems to stick occasionally, which can result in
    constant transmission.

But otherwise, it works like a champ, and I like the idea of a small
waterproof remote that uses RF rather than IR for marine use - which
means you can use it outside.

Still up in the air on this purchase

Written By Rob, San Antonio on Friday, May 30, 2008

I purchased this unit hoping to control my Head Unit from the water. It works from a pretty good distance . . .but I have to push the buttons quite a bit. Almost like they are not working 100% of the time.
Kind of bites cuz if you hold the remote and the volume goes WAY up. I have about 2000 Watts RMS (need to be able to bring volume down quickly) on my boat, it takes a good while for the volume to go down. The buttons stick a little also. I am going to call crutchfiedl tech support as I am thinking the battery may be weak. For now, I am giving it a middle of the road rating. Maybe with a new battery I will change my tune. I really like alpine gear.
