A component sub is simply a speaker that's designed to reproduce bass once it's installed in a compatible enclosure. Think about the impact of a movie soundtrack in a big theater or even in your own home HDTV setup. A component sub can add the same kind of power to the music in your car. And a car sub is not all about the boom that you hear on a street corner (although that's cool too) - you can pair a component sub with your choice of enclosure to get bass just the way you like it, from tight and punchy to fat and loose. And once you experience music in your car with a well-tuned subwoofer, you'll never go back. Infinity first developed Ceramic Metal Matrix Diaphragm material (an aluminum core bonded to a layer of ceramic) for their highly-acclaimed home speakers. And now car audio enthusiasts can take advantage of this innovative technology. The Infinity Kappa 120.3dvc 12" dual voice coil subwoofer features the ultra-rigid, non-resonant C.M.M.D. cone. It's impervious to the elements, and highly-responsive for exceptional accuracy and low distortion. Dual 4-ohm voice coil construction provides extra flexibility in wiring your system for ultimate performance. Infinity built the 120.3dvc for maximum excursion so you'll enjoy powerful low-frequency presence without any distracting "bottoming out." The butyl rubber surround extends the life of your sub, while increasing its accuracy. Note: If you are wiring this DVC sub for lower impedance, make sure that your amp is compatible. Most car amplifiers are stable down to 2 ohms in standard mode, or 4 ohms in bridged operation. Features Specifications Features Dual Voice Coils: For increased system flexibility, the woofer has two 4 ohm voice coils. When the voice coils are wired in parallel with each other, the woofer presents a 2 ohm mono load. When the voice coils are wired in series with each other, the woofer presents an 8 ohm mono load. In addition, each coil may be connected to a different amplifier channel and each channel will see a 4 ohm load. Ceramic Metal Matrix Diaphragm (C.M.M.D.): Infinity's C.M.M.D. technology eliminates coloration due to cone breakup modes, dramatically reducing distortion. Butyl Rubber Surround: The butyl rubber surround offers excellent cone-edge suspension, important for high-excursion drivers. 5-way Binding Posts: The gold-plated binding posts will accept pin connectors, spade connectors, banana plugs, dual banana plugs, and up to 8 gauge bare wire. Before using banana plugs, you must unscrew the binding post nuts and remove the plastic plugs. After the plugs are removed, the binding post nuts can be reinstalled. Enclosure Compatibility: This woofer can provide extended bass in sealed, vented and bandpass enclosures (please see the "Specifications" section for more information on the recommended enclosures). Specifications Recommended Sealed Box Volume: Infinity recommends a sealed enclosure with an internal volume of 1.0 cu/ft. Recommended Vented Box Volume: Infinity recommends a vented enclosure with an internal volume of 2.0 cu/ft. One 4" diameter x 12.26" long port should be used with a 2.0 cu/ft enclosure. Recommended Single Reflex Bandpass Box Volume: Infinity recommends a bandpass enclosure with a sealed chamber volume of 1.3 cu/ft and a vented chamber volume of 0.86 cu/ft. One 4" diameter x 9.71" long port should be used with this enclosure. Product Reviews Be the first to review this product. Thanks for taking the time to share your experiences about this product.
