    Driver Technology

    Dynamic Balance: Dynamic Balance is a proprietary Polk Audio technology using laser imaging to determine what combination of speaker materials create the least amount of resonance. Eliminating resonance in speakers results in a wide, smooth response and low distortion.

    Composite Woofers: Each speaker has a 5-1/4" Dynamic Balance mineral filled polymer composite woofer housed in an acoustically inert stamped driver basket for clean midrange and deep, accurate bass. For a smoother response and improved durability, each woofer uses a rubber surround.

    Silk Tweeters: Each speaker has a 3/4" Dynamic Balance silk, polymer composite dome tweeter with a neodymium magnet for clear, detailed highs.

    Mylar Capacitors: The speakers utilize Mylar bypass capacitors to extend its high frequency response and improve detail and transparency.

    Timbre-Matched: The Polk R150s are designed to fit any Polk Audio home theater or multi-channel music system for a more realistic seamless surround sound environment.

    Frequency Response: The overall frequency response is 60Hz-24kHz and the -3dB frequency response is 65-20kHz.

    Enclosure Design

    Bass Port: A rear-firing bass port on each speaker gives you deep, punchy bass response.

    Grilles: The speakers feature ant-diffraction grilles that minimize grill diffraction for spacious, three-dimensional imaging.

    Connections

    5-Way Binding Posts: The 5-way binding posts will accept bare wire, pin connectors, spade connectors, banana plugs, and dual banana plugs.

    Mounting Options

    Video Shielded: The speakers are magnetically shielded for safe placement near your video sources.

    Applications: The R150s can be used as front or rear speakers in your home theater application or can be used as your main stereo pair for music listening.

    Optional Speaker Stands: Polk recommends using speaker stands that are 30 to 36 inches tall. The speakers come with 4 rubber self-adhesive feet for each speaker to help secure them in place to prevent slippage and vibration.

    Wall Mounting: The speaker does not come with any type of wall-bracket or key-hole slot for wall-mounting the speakers. To wall mount the speakers you will need to drill into the back of the speaker cabinet or use the optional B-Tech heavy duty side-grip wall-mounting bracket (121AM40B, sold separately). The space to drill into the back of the cabinet is 6.1875" x 3.3125" located above the speaker terminal assembly. The bracket will need to be able to withstand at least 10 lbs.

    I was totally amazed and shocked when I received my new Polk Audio bookself speakers. My wife and been complaining for several months about the large audio speakers within our living room because they were taking up entirely too much space and it got to the point where she had threatened to sell them. The very next day I went searching online for a good deal on bookself speakers and had stumbled upon the Polk Audio R150's. I'm very proud I did. They far exceeded my expectations. My wife was even surprised at how well these bad boy's sound. She's even giving me permission to purchase Polk Audio floor speakers the next time Crutchfield has a sale on their floor speakers. I love these speakers a lot! Awesome deal on a nice set of bookshelf speakers.

    I own a pair of 3 year old Polk 40's which are fine as front channel speakers in my family room. Was hoping that these 150's would get the job done for stereo in smaller den. Wrong. These are flat and dull sounding. I've heard other major brand speakers with better articulation and over all clarity for about the same money. Needless to say, very disappointed. If I demoed these, I wouldn't have bought. (Yamaha 75w RMS Per at .08THD, Technics DD Turntable, Shure V15, Ipod mp3 player).
    Pros:
    Efficient at 8 OHMs.
    Cons:
    Hyper Mids, Dull highs, non existent lows. Deficiencies cannot be ironed out with EQ.

    More than decent small bookshelf speakers. Tone is good, distortion low even when pumping 105 RMS per channel on medium volume. Similar to my 12 year old Bose 141 speakers I use for the rear channels; the Polk Audio speakers are a bit brighter in the highs and mid range but do not provide quite as much base as the Bose. Very good front speakers for modest budget home theater which is my application teamed up with a Polk Audio 10" powered sub woofer.
    Pros:
    Size and weight fits almost any space, nice wire attachment options, Kudos to Crutchfield for prompt and free delivery too.
    Cons:
    none at the sale price of less than $100 for a pair

    I bought these speakers for my husband's birthday to replace his large speakers from decades ago. He is very pleased with the purchase, and has remarked that he now can hear sounds in his CD's that he didn't even knew existed. The speakers have great clarity and purity, and we are both very pleased with this choice. Delivery was on time, very pleased with the whole experience.

    First, let me commend Crutchfield and their amazing team. Every time I buy something from Crutchfield, their orders, shipping and products are second to none. I have yet to have an issue with a purchase from them. Customer service is great as well.

    These Polk R150 speakers are perfect for someone who is looking for a quality speaker but not looking to spend a ton of money. I bought them for my folks for xmas and they sound great!

    These "baby" polks are amazing! I have the tall floor Polks and wanted to add these babys to the surround sound system in place of some older sony bookshelves. The difference was remarkable. Only complaint was a tiny hole in the screen, other than than they are a superior product for the price.

    Let me start off by saying this is my first set of polks I'm simply blow away on how well this speaker sounds not only for the size but the price I have a very high end sub woofer also but the the high's and the mid's these produce is amazing and for the price awesome job Polk Audio I'm going to buy the rear surrounds next and the will be polk Audio's and to top it off Crutchfield shipping is super fast 3 days to my front porch

    I am amazed how these little speakers sound with our 300CD player..before we had very little bass sound and a lot of background noise. After we purchased these we are getting some nice bass tones and very clear sounds. The price was misleading, we did not think they would be this good, but are very pleased in the purchase...nice looking too.

    I couldn't decide whether to rate these as three or four stars. Compared to the rest of the speakers out there, excluding high end models, which you are not shopping for if you looking at these anyway, these are a solid three. Compared to other speakers near this price range these speakers are a four or maybe a five. Infinity P153, Pioneer sp-bk-21, Polk TL1 are all between $100 to $150 per pair.

    I bought these speakers to replace a pair of Yamaha HTIB speakers, which sounded better than one might think. The Polk R150s are of course a definite upgrade, and I was pleasantly surprised with their performance. The R150s do everything well. Sonically they are a pretty neutral speaker, they are balance being neither laid back nor aggressive, and they don't color the music. Paired with a good center channel they work well for home theatre use also. These speakers have a good range for such a small box, the bass is sufficiently deep and tight without sounding boomy. Highs are detailed and even without sounding overly bright and midrange and vocals are clear. The sound seems to be pretty consistent regardless of where I sit in the room, so being off axis is not an issue. If you are considering Polk TL 1 or 2 or Tsi100s, I would definitely give the R150's a listen. I think they do much better job than the TL1 and the TL2 and there is not much difference between these and the Tsi100s. I think you might end up saving yourself $100.
    Pros:
    These are good sounding fairly neutral speakers. If they don't do anything spectacular, they at least do everything pretty well. I like the clarity, range and detail of these speakers. You will be hard pressed to find similarly priced speakers that sound better. If you can get speakers like this, for this price, the Home Theatre in a Box is obsolete. You would do much better building your own system. They are not exactly the same, but I think they pair well with the Polk CS 10 center channel.
    Cons:
    These do not belong in a dedicated home theatre or music room. These speakers are good, but they don't make music come to life, but this is true of everything I have heard in this price range. A better speaker will be more nuanced and throw a wider soundstage, sounding more live. I do think you would have to spend twice the money to achieve this effect. I am not crazy about the matching CSR, there are better centers for the money. Try these instead with the CS 10 and see what you think.

    It's Polk . what more needs to be said ? If you want the best and are willing to pay for it you buy Polk . These are polk and great as always I got 2 pair to replaced some samsung I had in the TV room when I hooked them up and turned on my ruku to the pandora the sound is like live and compaired to the samsung total night and day . If you want real sound buy Polk if not well bummer for you .
