You might think you don't need an amp because you have a 400-watt system in your car, or because your new stereo puts out 50 watts a channel. But those are peak wattage ratings, which may boil down to 15 or 20 watts per channel, using the more realistic RMS rating. An amp sends your speakers the power they need to deliver your music with clarity and impact, whether you're using factory speakers or high-performance components. And low-frequency reproduction requires lots of power, so an amp is an absolute must if you're adding a sub to your system. Our take on the Alpine MRP-F300 by Buck Pomerantz V-Power amplifiers deliver the sound quality that made Alpine famous. Highly efficient power supplies housed in sleek black casings guarantee that these amps stand out in performance and appearance. The thermal management system dissipates heat and saves power, so your V-Power amp will run reliably for years to come. The MRP-F300 4-channel amplifier sends 50 watts RMS to each of your front and rear speakers, or switches to 2-channel mode to power a pair of subwoofers. You can also switch to 3-channel mode, then power a subwoofer with 150 watts RMS while the other two channels power a pair of full-range speakers.High- and low-pass filters put you in command of the frequencies that reach your speakers, while the bass boost is armed with plenty of low-end punch. Preamp- and speaker-level inputs allow you to connect this amp in almost any vehicle. Let a V-Power amplifier transform the sound of your car's audio system. Features Controls Connections Features Power Supply: The MRP-F300 amplifier's power supply uses MOSFETs to convert DC battery voltage to the higher DC voltages needed for high power. It supplies positive and negative voltages around 0V, rather than around 6V as with conventional single-polarity power supplies. The result is higher power levels and a dynamic range wider by as much as 10dB. Inputs: The amplifier offers both line-level and speaker-level inputs for 4 channels. The supplied speaker-level input harness allows you to connect this amplifier to a receiver without preamp outputs; aftermarket or factory. Line Outputs: This amplifier has a pair of non-fading stereo RCA line outputs. You can use these outputs to daisy-chain another amplifier without having to run additional signal cables from the receiver. Terminal Covers: The amp comes with two plastic covers that protect and insulate the RCA, power, and speaker connections. Four supplied machine screws attach the covers to the amplifier. Controls Gain Controls: This amp has independent front and rear channel gain controls. Crossovers: Both front and rear channels have independent high-pass and low-pass crossovers. The crossover points are continuously variable from 50-400 Hz and the slope of both is 12dB/octave. Each set of channels has a high-pass/low-pass/off switch. Subsonic Filter: This amp utilizes a subsonic filter at 15Hz to eliminate super low frequencies that can rob power and damage speakers. The subsonic filter operates at all times; it cannot be turned off. Bass EQ: The Bass EQ circuit provides a fixed boost of 12dB at 50 Hz for the rear channels only. The Bass EQ can be turned off and does not function when the amp's rear-channel crossover is set to high-pass operation. Connections Left Side Of Amplifier: GND (ground): gold-plated screw terminal, 0.33" wide Battery: gold-plated screw terminal, 0.33" wide Remote: gold-plated screw terminal, 0.33" wide Speaker Outputs: gold-plated screw terminals (8), 0.33" wide Note: Alpine recommends 8 gauge power and ground wire (minimum). Right Side Of Amplifier: Line Inputs: 2 pair of gold-plated stereo RCA jacks Line Output: 1 pair of gold-plated stereo RCA jacks Speaker Level Input: Molex plug input for supplied 4-pin harness Product reviews from the Crutchfield Labs Product reviews from the Crutchfield Labs (what are the Labs?) If you are looking for a solid 4-channel amp, then the Alpine MRP-F300 is it. Don't be fooled by 50 watts RMS, the Alpine MRP-F300, tuned correctly, can max-out any set of speakers' dBs, mids and tweets, and turn'em into a gut wrenching, eardrum piercing experience. The adjustment features are perhaps one of the best things about the Alpine MRP-F300, with total control of filters, crossovers, and gain, there is no reason why you can't get the exact sound you're looking for, plus, spec-for-spec, you can't beat the price of this 4-channal amp. Need proof, take it from me, I ought to know, this is the second Alpine MRP-F300 I've purchased. Pros: clean, clear, and loud! Cons: nada! Was this review helpful? Pros: Everything Cons: None Was this review helpful? Yes | No 5 out of 5 Great little amp Written By Alex8a, Manteca CA on Saturday, April 13, 2013 Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?) This is a great little amp that fit nicely tucked away in my trunk. I am running 2 Pioneer 6x9s and 2 Pioneer 61/2s in my Honda Accord coupe and it sounds like I have a full blown system. This amp really pushes my speakers hard with clear powerful highs and rumbling lows that shake my rear view mirror like a sub is in the trunk. I would definitely recommend this amp to someone that wants to upgrade their stock system to something that really rocks. Pros: Small size that fits anywhere. Powerful clean sound. Cons: Small connection points make it difficult to connect lower gauge wires. Was this review helpful? There's not much to say in the way of details -- Crutchfield has already done a good job of supplying any info you need to know up front. Suffice it to say that the amp delivers what it promises in a nice, small package. I love this amp! Pros: Small form-factor -- fits under the passenger seat of my 2001 Honda Insight. Easy to access connectors. Easy to read information along each side of the amp. Was this review helpful? After installing a Clarion 501 CD Reciever, a pair of Polk Db651s in the doors, and a pair of Polk Dxi460p plates in the pillars on my 2004 silverado, I was a little disappionted with the lack of depth and lack of volume of the music.I'm not one to write reviews but after installing the Alpine MRP-F300 to the system - WOW! - What a difference! The sound is much warmer and depth & detail is much improved along with more volume than I will ever need.If you are considering upgrading your system with a new mid-power amp, (50watts rms x4)I highly recommend this one.I plan on adding a sub later and this amp has a pair of line outputs to daisy chain another amp. Pros: Alpine quality build, solid sound Cons: none so far 1 out of 1 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? Yes | No 3 out of 5 Alpine MRP-F300 - Watch out for stuck switches! Written By FRECHA, Dallas, Texas on Monday, February 11, 2013 Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?) Sound output from this amp is good. it was easy to install but was disappointed that the covers were made of plastic instead of metal like the rest of the unit. Directions were easy to use. Only gripe I have with this unit is that I found the HARD way that the switches that control the channels for the front and back can sometimes get stuck. I tested the unit and was puzzled why sound was coming out only on one side of the vehicle. I thought the problem was wire based so i proceeded to troubleshoot the wiring and after an hour of going through the wiring and rechecking connections it ended up being a stuck switch setting that controlled the front 2 channels. The settings were set properly from the beginning but for some reason when the switch was set it didnt go all the way. This was after i had to call tech support for assistance. The person that assisted me told me that sometimes this happens to this unit and to always play with the switches to make sure they set to the right setting. Wish i knew that ahead of time.... Pros: Great sound - no interference detected. Nothing but clean crispy producing sound. Supports various setups. Cons: Switches used to dial in settings are not dependable. Size of unit is also large and plastic housng cover was cheap looking. 1 out of 1 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? Yes | No 5 out of 5 Sounds great! Just installed this amp in my 2007 Tundra along with 4 Polk speakers. I usually don't take the time to post reviews on products but i like this amp so much I had to voice my opinion. This amp rocks! It may be only putting out 50W per channel but i can't even crank it half-way without my ears bleeding. Crisp clear sound even at high volume levels. I also installed a new Pioneer AVH 3500 which contributes to the high quality sound. Can't say enough about how pleased I am with this amp. Pros: Great product for a low price. Cons: None Was this review helpful? Yes | No 4 out of 5 So far so good Written By Brandon, Raleigh, NC on Tuesday, January 01, 2013 Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?) This amp made a world of a difference in sound, but the mounting feet are made of thin plastic and two of them broke off when screwing them down using very little pressure, but I was able to gorilla glue them back on stronger than ever. Pros: Very nice sound quality, I think you can mount the f500 mono amp on top of this one to save space. Cons: Frequency dials seem to be a little off, cheap plastic mounting feet, difficult to connect power and ground if you're using anything lower than 8 gauge. Was this review helpful? Written By Pete, Demarest on Friday, September 28, 2012 Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?) I purchased my 2012 Mazda5 Grand Touring last September and first thing I noticed was that the stock speakers sounded horrible. Thinking it was lacking bass, I installed a Kicker CVT 10" sub with JL JX250/1 mono amp. I had difficult time trying to find the right setting for the amp. Then realized that the car was too noisy on the highway so started to Dynamat the car. I then purchased the Focal Access speakers (component up front and 2 way in the rear); during which I discovered that the tweeters were basically bridged to the existing door speakers. I the replaced the factory speaker wires with Monster XP. Though it sounds okay after that with bass sounding much better but was now overpowering the mids as power was lacking. I then started looking and found the Alpine MRP-F300 both economical and attractive. On top of that, it had rave reviews on Crutchfield.com. So I went ahead and ordered the "Open Box" unit (which I trust Crutchfield wholeheartedly) which was delivered two days ago. This morning, I started the installation of the amp -- which I sort of knew that it would a lot of work -- and it was. Hardest part was trying to get to the wiring harness on back of the radio. But I endured and after about 6 hours later, I finished the install. I fiddled around with the settings on the amp played Vivaldi's Four Season by Janine Jensen. I was literally blown away, it was so clear, so punchy, and bass was there but no longer overpowering. I'd have to say, money well spend! Pros: Clean, punchy, compact, quality assembly throughout. Cons: None 4 out of 5 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? Yes | No 5 out of 5 Fabulous Written By Brian, White Bear Lake, MN on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?) Right after I purchased this amp I started thinking maybe I should of spent more, maybe 50 watts per channel would not be enough power to push my 2 Polk Audio MM5x7 and 2 Infinity Kappa 6x9's effectively. After installing this amp with the JVC Arsenal deck my worries were put to rest. This amp provides a lot of clean power. Enough to wreck your ear drums with Zero distortion. To the folks that say this amp doesn't provide enough power or bass to your 6x9's, get a good quality wire kit, make sure you have a good ground connection and turn off the bass boost unless you are running subs, it will make your bass sound horrible. This is a great amp. Pros: Great power and sound quality. Cons: .................................. :) 2 out of 3 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? Yes | No 3 out of 5 Alpine MRP-F300 Written By Anonymous, Illinois on Thursday, August 16, 2012 Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?) I'm giving this a 3 star review because I feel it does it's job fairly well. I used to really be into car stereo equipment. I spend a lot of time in the car, so decided it was time to update my system. I had an Alpine head unit, and added an old school RF Punch 75HD for the front, and another for the rear speakers. Bass was awesome with my 6x9s! For some reason, I decided to swap out the old school amps in favor of a single 4 channel, then hook up one of the RFs to my old school Kicker Competition 12s. I figured a NEWer 4 channel amp would be better than my 20 year old RFs. Boy was I wrong! I lost practically all of my bass(6x9s). (I do not have the Kickers hooked up because I didn't want to lose the trunk space.) The volume is no where near what I was getting out of the RFs, but I figured that would be the case since the RFs really pumped the power out. This thing still was louder than the stock Alpine unit, but again, no where near the RFs Bass output. I tried the different options for bass boost, but still nothing. The low end just falls off. I have since sold the RFs(my bad), and am considering buying a new one to replace this amp. I have read reviews on other amps, and just as others say, you get what you pay for. Bottom-of-the-line sucks, no matter what brand. Pros: 4-channel amp that does it's job. Cons: lacking bass response 1 out of 6 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? My system has plenty of power. Who needs an amp? Right Side Of Amplifier: Line Inputs: 2 pair of gold-plated stereo RCA jacks Line Output: 1 pair of gold-plated stereo RCA jacks Speaker Level Input: Molex plug input for supplied 4-pin harness

5 out of 5 Alpine MRP-F300 - solid amp Written By zlordraptor, program manager on Monday, June 17, 2013 Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?) If you are looking for a solid 4-channel amp, then the Alpine MRP-F300 is it. Yes | No

5 out of 5 Great little amp Written By Alex8a, Manteca CA on Saturday, April 13, 2013 Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?) This is a great little amp that fit nicely tucked away in my trunk. Yes | No

5 out of 5 Alpine MRP-F300 Written By MikeD, Columbus, Ohio on Sunday, February 17, 2013 Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?) After installing a Clarion 501 CD Reciever, a pair of Polk Db651s in the doors, and a pair of Polk Dxi460p plates in the pillars on my 2004 silverado, I was a little disappionted with the lack of depth and lack of volume of the music.I'm not one to write reviews but after installing the Alpine MRP-F300 to the system - WOW! Yes | No
3 out of 5 Alpine MRP-F300 - Watch out for stuck switches! Yes | No

5 out of 5 Alpine MRP-F300 Written By JJ, O fallon, IL on Friday, January 11, 2013 Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?) Just installed this amp in my 2007 Tundra along with 4 Polk speakers. Yes | No
4 out of 5 So far so good Written By Brandon, Raleigh, NC on Tuesday, January 01, 2013 Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?) This amp made a world of a difference in sound, but the mounting feet are made of thin plastic and two of them broke off when screwing them down using very little pressure, but I was able to gorilla glue them back on stronger than ever. Yes | No

5 out of 5 Cost effective yet so powerful and clean, this amp rocks! Yes | No
5 out of 5 Fabulous Written By Brian, White Bear Lake, MN on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?) Right after I purchased this amp I started thinking maybe I should of spent more, maybe 50 watts per channel would not be enough power to push my 2 Polk Audio MM5x7 and 2 Infinity Kappa 6x9's effectively. Yes | No
3 out of 5 Alpine MRP-F300 Written By Anonymous, Illinois on Thursday, August 16, 2012 Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?) I'm giving this a 3 star review because I feel it does it's job fairly well. Yes | No
