Our take on the Clarion WH104

Clarion's WH104 wireless headphone package includes two wireless stereo headphone sets and an infrared transmitter. Each headphone set has foam on-the-ear earcups, a plastic adjustable headband, volume control, and a battery compartment for two "AAA" alkaline batteries (not included). An Auto ON/OFF microswitch in the earcups saves battery power by turning on the headsets only when audio is playing.

The infrared transmitter must be mounted in a location with a clear line of sight to the headphones. An automatic level control prevents input signal overloading. Connect the audio output of your media player (in-dash DVD receiver, mobile DVD player, VCR, etc.) to the transmitter's audio inputs, put on the headphones, and slap in a video — instant mobile theater! Warranty: 1 year.

Important Note: The headphones are for passenger use only. Most states prohibit the use of headphones by the driver while operating the vehicle.

Features

Overview: The Clarion WH104 automotive IR stereo headphone system includes two wireless stereo headphones, an IR transmitter, and a harness to connect an external source. Once the transmitter receives the signal, it is sent to the stereo headphones. Because the transmitter sends IR signals, it should be positioned in line of sight of the headphones.

Note: Since the total length of the provided harnesses is 12", the you will probably require an additional RCA stereo patch cord for the transmitter's input and wire to extend the +12V and ground wires of the harness.

Headphones: Each of the two supplied headphones requires two "AAA" alkaline batteries, which are not supplied. The headsets have foam on-the-ear non-sealed earcups and a plastic adjustable headband. The battery compartment is on the left earpiece, as well as the On/Off button. The right earpiece has a rotary volume thumbwheel control, and a red LED which illuminates when power is on.

Automatic Level Control: This headphone system has an automatic level control to prevent input signal overloading. This assures the signal is clear and free of distortion and protects you from unexpected loud bursts of audio through the headphones.

Automatic Power Off: After a few minutes without a signal source, the power to the headphones will automatically shut off.

Transmitter Installation: The transmitter is screwed into position and mounted so the portion of the transmitter with the LED emitters is in line of sight with the headsets. The left and right RCA audio jacks are connected to the output source. The red harness wire is connected to +12V ignition and the black wire is connected to ground.
