With this kit, came great hope for my 2010 F-150. The factory system was lacking power and depth and I was seeking out a clean upgrade. I didn't want to change core components or even splice any wires. This kit met my requirements perfectly, on paper. Once I got it installed, I was impressed by the *thump* that the 10" sub was able to produce. As advertised, it seemed to amplify and clarify the mids and highs as well. About that *thump*... the lack of control in this system is unfortunate. When listening to my iPhone via the data cable, a patch cable, or bluetooth, or even listening to a factory CD, there are some songs that are unbearable, even at low levels. It's not a minority of my songs either. I have a very eclectic mix -- rock, jazz, classic, electronic, etc. Any songs that have a powerful kick drum will drive you absolutely crazy with this system. The subwoofer is improperly balanced and in many instances can't be controlled. Even with the bass turned all the way down on the head unit and using the "bass reducer" equalizer on my iPhone, the subwoofer can be too powerful. As a result of having to turn down the bass on the head unit, I also lose out on critical mid range frequencies and lose some depth that would be there if I could otherwise turn this subwoofer down. I've spoken to Crutchfield tech support and all that they could offer is that this unit is "DSP-optimized" for my truck and can't be adjusted, whatever that's supposed to mean. Color me disappointed. Pros: Clean install. Cons: Overpriced. No control of the subwoofer (not very happy about this -- pretty much a deal breaker). Was this review helpful? If you value your back seat space this system is it. You will not shake the ground but you your factory speakers come alive like you would not believe (highs I never heard before and the clarity is unbelievale) The sub is tight, clear and awesome. All of the wiring and harnesses are factory grade, and the final installation is if at came from Ford. It utilizes factory holes in the frame to mount to the subwoofer under the seat just like my Dad's factory Sony. It make take you a few hours to install, but the Crutchfield directions are clear. The final product is something to be very proud of. Pros: Factory harness connections without a single wire to cut. Factory quality equipment or better that produces a professional sound that is tuned for this vehicle. Very good use of Kicker technology to improve a very dull factory system without removing the wonderful SYNC equipment.
