Features
Interactive Signal Processor: As the automotive
manufacturers increasingly make their source units (radios) an integral part of
the vehicle, it becomes increasingly harder to change them out and upgrade your
system. The Rockford Fosgate 3Sixty.3 Interactive Signal Processor makes it
possible to utilize your vehicle's factory source unit and still create the
sound experience that fits you. With an easy to use interface, the 3Sixty.3
connected to your vehicle's source unit and an amplifier, you can create a sound
stage that is personally tuned to your vehicle. The 3Sixty.3 gives you all the
benefits of creating the best system possible without compromising the
manufacturer's integrated source system. The Rockford Fosgate 3Sixty.3
Interactive Signal Processor is the perfect solution if you need to add
aftermarket equipment to your factory source unit, integrate your mobile
devices, or have complete control over your car audio signal. The 3Sixty.3 can
function as an OEM integration "black box" or a complete surround sound DSP.
Featuring 8-channels of interactive signal processing, it can handle the most
complex system design. Plus with features like Bluetooth streaming, selectable
crossover types, and a USB interface; the 3Sixty.3 offers the versatility you
need to upgrade your OEM car audio system without replacing the factory head
unit.
Note: To tune the 3Sixty.3 properly to your factory car audio
system, the source unit must have a CD player and an amplifier with RCA
inputs. A Windows PC laptop is also required for initial setup and adjustments.
DSM: DSM (an industry-leading manufacturing process) utilizes
high-speed robotics, high-quality 1% tight-tolerance parts, and large board
traces. The discrete components are laser etched to meet a particular value and
a very low tolerance. This lower tolerance improves the efficiency of the
circuit, decreases cross-talk from other discrete components, and lowers
operating temperature. T
Frequency Normalization: Frequency normalization is achieved by
characterizing the frequency response of the audio source based on a reference
input signal. This reference input signal is used to establish a reference
frequency response, which is stored in memory and used to select equalizer
settings. The system restores missing spectral content by summing multiple input
signals from the audio source. The system then normalizes the frequency response
based on characterizations of the signal by utilizing equalizer settings from
memory.
Bluetooth A2DP Audio Streaming: The 3Sixty.3 includes a Bluetooth
wireless dongle which allows you to wirelessly stream audio from your
Bluetooth-enabled device.
RFLink: RFLink is a communication protocol allowing multiple Rockford
Fosgate components to link-up with each other to provide intelligent control.
The 3Sixty.3 features two RFLink jacks. Either one can be used to connect the
included wired remote control.
Power LED: The RF logo illuminates white once initialized, illuminates
blue when connected to a PC, flashes blue when transmitting data to/from a
PC, and flashes red when a problem has occurred.
Mounting Options: The Rockford Fosgate 3Sixty.3 should be mounted
inside the vehicle, such as under the passenger seat. It can also be mounted in
the trunk area. It should never be mounted inside the engine compartment.
Controls
Interactive Graphic User Interface (GUI) Controlled via Windows PC:
Once you have installed the Rockford Fosgate 3Sixty.3, a windows PC laptop will
be need for initial setup and adjustments for the interactive signal processor
to properly work with your system. The 3Sixty.3 includes a setup disc with
windows PC software to configure the interactive sound processor to your vehicle
and car audio system. Your PC must use a Windows XP, VISTA, or 7 OS with
at least one USB (type-A) connection and have an internet connection. Once
you've loaded the software onto your Windows laptop, you will then insert the
disc into your vehicle's source unit (head unit).
Configuration Menu: The Configuration menu is used to set up the
assign input/output configuration, input summing, assign source presets, input
level set, and denormalization of a high level input, of the 3Sixty.3 processor
- Assign Input/Output: The 3Sixty.3 can handle up to 8-channels of
input and 8-channels of output. In the Assign Input Configuration page there
are three possible input sources available; Low Level (RCA), High Level
(Speaker), Optical (Toslink). The input and output channels can be assigned
in any configuration/combination. The labeling of the inputs and outputs on
the 3Sixty.3 is simply a guide for the most common system found in vehicles.
- Input Summing: The 3Sixty.3 can take two or more non full-range,
high-level signals and combine them to make one full-range low level signal.
When an input is set "High Level (Speaker)" you are given the opportunity to
select an output channel from the diagram and select which inputs you would
like to sum for that output channel. You must assign at least one input
channel for each output channel.
- Assign Source Presets: The 3Sixty.3 can save up to four separate
EQ settings (Presets). The four presets can be setup so that each source can
have a dedicated EQ setting or so that each source can run multiple EQ
settings. Any source that does not have a preset assigned to it will be
disabled. the remote will skip any unused sources and presets during
selection mode.
- Input Level Setup: The 3Sixty.3 utilizes a very unique circuit to
detect the maximum output voltage that can be achieved from each channel of
your source unit at a very low THD level. The 3Sixty.3 comes with a special
modulated signal on track 1 of the Setup Disk that is used to measure the
source unit's output. Insert the Setup Disk into your source unit, and
select track #1. Each input channel selected in the Assign Input
Configuration window will display a level meter, indicating the voltage for
that channel as well as the amount of THD measured. The THD level is
indicated by the color of the level meter. A green level meter indicates an
acceptable amount of THD, while a red level meter indicates an unacceptable
level. Turn the volume on the source unit to maximum, then reduce the volume
until the level meter for every channel is green. Then, make note of the
final source volume on the source unit level, which is the maximum level the
source unit should be turned up to once the installation is complete. On the
"Input Attenuators" page, the input level of each channel is displayed using
a level meter and underneath each level meter is an attenuation level
slider. In order to ensure an equal output voltage on all channels, the
"Auto Range" feature attenuates each input channel to 2V before entering the
DSP. This is the maximum input voltage needed to achieve the maximum 8Vrms
on the 3Sixty.3's output.
- Input Denormalization: The 3Sixty.3's input denormalization
function is designed to measure the electrical frequency response of each
channel from your source unit and calculate the correction curve needed to
flatten the output of each channel. It then combines the correction curve
with the source units output, giving you a flat frequency response on the
output channels. Select track #2 (Correlated Pink noise) on the 3Sixty.3
setup disk. The volume of the source unit can be left at its maximum level
unless the source unit has a volume dependant equalization circuit such as
most BOSE systems, in which case the source unit should be set to half of
the maximum level calculated when level setting the input. Select the "Auto
Normalize" button, this can take approximately 1-5 minutes to calculated the
correction curve needed to normalize the output. You can now use the drop
down menu to switch between the measured input frequency response and the
corrected output frequency response displayed on the graph. The color
correlating to each channel on the graph will be displayed on the right hand
side. The "Read Results" button on the left hand side is only used when a
3Sixty.3 processor unit has been previously configured and the user wants to
view the input or output curves previously calculated without rerunning the
"Auto Normalize" function.
Speaker Selection: The upper left of the GUI displays a picture of a
vehicle with the speakers (channels) displayed that were initialized in the
Assign Input/Output section of the initial configuration. Each speaker (channel)
can be configured individually or you can link together channels. For
convenience the sub woofer channels just have one check box to link the level,
crossover, and EQ. By selecting to link the left and right channel level,
crossover, or EQ together what you do with one side will be duplicated to the
other side. The speaker (channel) that is selected will be highlighted blue and
the channels name will be displayed above the vehicle diagram.
Equalizer: The EQ graph will start with a perfectly flat response
(20-20KHz) when first setting up your equalizer, then any changes/additions to
the 31-band EQ, filters, or Q, will be displayed in the EQ graph. Every channel
has its own independent (unless linked) EQ adjustments. The EQ adjustments can
be broken down into three separate sections; Crossover Network(s), Level &
Delay, and the 31-Band EQ Adjustments.
- Crossover Networks: The crossover adjustments consist of three
parts; Crossover Type, Crossover Class, and Crossover Slope.
- Crossover Type: The crossover type for each channel can be
configured as either high-pass (HPF), low-pass (LPF), band-pass (BPF),
low-shelf (LSF), high-shelf (HSF) or completely by-passed (AP). After
selecting the crossover type, you will need to enter the frequencies
(20-20kHz) you would like your filter(s) to cutoff at.
- Crossover Class: The crossover class for each channel can be
configured as either Linkwitz (Q=0.49), Bessel (Q=0.58), Butterworth
(Q=0.707), or Chebychev (Q=1.0). If you are not sure which class to use,
we recommend starting with a Butterworth filter because of its flat
response characteristics.
- Crossover Slope: The crossover slope for each channel can be
configured as either 12dB/octave, 24dB/octave. 36dB/octave, or
48dB/octave. The steeper the slope, the faster the roll-off; resulting
in less content passing through the device from the unwanted frequency
range.
- Level & Delay: The level for each channel of the 3Sixty.3 can be
attenuated up to -40dB. This feature can be used to; reduce the output
voltage for amplifiers that have a maximum input voltage that is less than
8V, adjust the balance or fade, or to level set a source. Each channel of
the 3Sixty.3 can be delayed by up to 10 msec. The delay can be entered in
distance or time.
- 31-Band EQ Adjustments: The 3Sixty.3's 31-band parametric EQ has
five main adjustments used to adjust the outputs frequency response; Band,
Frequency, Q, Gain, and Polarity. There is also three master resets that can
be used to return each main EQ adjustment back to default. In addition to
the four main adjustments, you can invert the phase or mute the selected
channel(s).
- Band: Each channel of the 3Sixty.3 has a variable 31 band EQ.
The default frequency for each band is set to 1/3 octave increments,
however each band's frequency can be changed to any desired frequency.
- Frequency: Each band of the EQ has a variable frequency
(20-20kHz) that the user can change from the default value.
- Q: Each band of the EQ has a variable Q that the user can change
from 0.1 to 6.
- Gain: Each band of the EQ has a variable gain that the user can
adjust the level from -24dB to +24dB.
- Polarity: You can choose to reverse the polarity of each
channel.
Balanced/Unbalanced Switch: For matching the output of the 3Sixty.3 to
the input of the amplifier, the interactive signal processor utilizes a
compensation circuit to insure an 8V pre out regardless of the switch position.
Remote Output Delay: Remote Output Delay Timing options include 1 sec,
2 sec, 4 sec, or 8 sec. This allows you to customize the time delay from when
the 3Sixty.3 initializes (turns on) to when it turns on any external amplifiers
connected to its REM OUT (blue wire in 4 pin power harness). This extended
timing ensures that the source unit and 3Sixty.3 are on and initialized before
initializing (turning on) the amplifiers, therefore eliminating any turn-on
"pop" noise.
Wired Remote Control: The included wired remote features two 3-way
rotary knobs. The two knobs can be programmed to control two of the following
three functions when rotating the knobs; Master Volume, Sub Output Level, and
Punch EQ Output Level. Pressing the knob on the left selects between four inputs
(Main, Bluetooth, AUX, & Optical). Pressing the right knob switches between 4
stored EQ presets. The wired remote control's 8 LEDs indicate multiple
functions. If either of the knobs are rotated all 8 LEDs work sequentially to
indicate the level of what the user has configured that knob to do. When no LEDs
are illuminated the configured knob is at its minimum output level position, and
when all the LEDs are illuminated it indicates the max output level position.
When no knobs have been rotated or 5 seconds after one has been rotated, the
LEDs function changes to indicate the "Preset" selected (1-4) on the four LEDs
above the right knob and the "Source" selected on the four LEDs above the left
knob. The source LEDs are as follows; (1) Main, (2) Bluetooth, (3) AUX, and (4)
Optical. The wired remote control comes with 19.5' of cable and a mounting
bracket, and should be mounted in a location that is readily accessible to the
driver. The casing surround the remote control can be removed to flush-mount the
device.
Connections
Power/Ground Connections: The 3Sixty.3 interactive signal
processor includes a detachable 4-pin connector with 16AWG wire leads for the
Power, Ground, Remote In, and Remote Out.
8-Channel RCA Inputs/Outputs: The Rockford Fosgate 3Sixty.3 is
equipped with 8 RCA inputs and 8 RCA outputs for Front Left/Right channels,
Front 2 Left/Right channels, Rear Left/Right channels, and Sub Left/Right
channels. The RCA terminals are nickel-plated to resist signal degradation and
corrosion.
Note: The 3Sixty.3 can be set up to create a 8-channel output with
only 2-channels (Left & Right) of input. However, for the best sound stage,
it is strongly recommended to connect into all of the outputs from the
vehicles factory system. If you are not using all 8 inputs
(Front/Front2/Rear/Sub) you can SUM the inputs during configuration under
the OEM system setup. Keep in mind that if you choose to use SUM, all
left channels selected will form one signal and all right channels selected
will form one signal. Stereo imaging will be maintained, but your
fader may cease to function depending on the channels selected to sum.
8-Channel High-Level Input (w/ Signal Sense Turn-On): The interactive
digital processor includes a detachable 16-pin connector with 16AWG wire leads
for connecting up to 8 high-level channels of input. The 3Sixty.3's high-level
input offers automatic signal sense turn-on, which means the device
automatically turns on when it senses an audio signal.
Note: Make sure to maintain signal polarity when using the high
level inputs. Failure to do so may cause undesirable phasing effects and the
signal sense may not turn on the unit.
AUX RCA Input: The Rockford Fosgate 3Sixty.3 is fitted with a stereo
RCA auxiliary input for connection of an external portable audio device.
Optical Input: The unit's optical (toslink) input supports stereo PCM
audio (S/PDIF) 48kHz/24-bit.
USB Port: The interactive signal processor utilizes a USB 2.0 (type-B)
connector to connect the 3Sixty.3 to your Windows PC for programming.
