Overview: The Cambridge Audio S70 Floor-Standing Loudspeaker
features a single 1" soft-dome tweeter and two 5" mid-bass woofers loaded in a
bass-reflex enclosure. The S70 floor-standing loudspeaker delivers excellent
treble and commanding bass. The S70 floor-standing loudspeaker is ideal for a
stereo or home theater application. Included, is a rectangular base and spiked
feet for added stability on carpeted floors.

1" Soft-Dome Tweeter: The S70 floor-standing loudspeaker
features a 1" soft-dome tweeter for detailed, realistic highs. The tweeter uses
a high flux density, self shielding neodymium magnet assembly for improved
sensitivity and better dynamics.
Dual 5" Mid-Bass Woofers: The S70 floor-standing loudspeaker
utilizes dual 5" woven polyfiber cone mid-bass woofers for dynamic mid & bass
response. Each mid-bass woofer uses a rigid phase plug for improved off-axis
integration. The 5" mid-bass woofers also feature a high-quality rubber surround
edge for reliable cone termination. In addition, an optimized magnet
motor-assembly is used for extended lower frequencies.
Crossover Network: The S70 floor-standing loudspeaker
utilizes a 2nd order, 2.5-way crossover to deliver high-frequencies to the
tweeter and mid-/low-frequencies to the two mid-bass drivers. High-quality
laminate core inductors give cleaner bass with improved dynamics, while
polypropylene film capacitors in critical path areas give a high-resolution high
frequency response.
Frequency Response: The S70 floor-standing loudspeakers have
a frequency response rating of 39 to 20,000 Hz.
Power Handling: The Cambridge Audio S70 floor-standing
loudspeakers can handle between 15 to 120 watts (RMS).
Enclosure Design
Bass Reflex: The Cambridge Audio S70 floor-standing
loudspeaker employs a bass reflex (ported) enclosure with a rear-firing port
for greater efficiency and bigger bass response.
MDF Cabinet: The S70 floor-standing loudspeaker features a
rigid MDF cabinet with internal cross-bracing to prevent any unwanted distortion
caused by vibration and resonance.
Wood Veneer Finish: The S70 floor-standing loudspeaker is
available in a black or dark oak wood veneer finish.
Removable Grille: The Cambridge Audio S70 floor-standing
loudspeaker includes a removable black cloth grille.
Connections
Dual Binding Posts: The S70 floor-standing loudspeaker has
two sets of gold-plated binding posts connected by gold-plated jumpers. Using
the dual binding posts, you can bi-amp or bi-wire the floor-standing speaker's
drivers for even better sound quality. The loudspeaker's binding posts will
accept bare-wire, pin-connectors, spade-connectors, and banana-plugs (single
only).
Color Coded: The dual binding post terminals are color-coded
(black/red) to distinguish between positive and negative.
Mounting Options
Applications: The Cambridge Audio S70 floor-standing
loudspeaker is ideal for stereo and home theater applications. You can add a
Cambridge Audio S-series center-channel speaker (779S50DO,
sold separately), surround speakers (779S30DO,
sold separately), and a powered subwoofer (779S90B,
sold separately).
Placement: Ideally, the floor-standing loudspeaker and
listening position should be positioned equal distances apart. Make sure to
leave adequate space between the floor-standing loudspeaker's rear-firing port
and the wall.
Magnetically Shielded: The enclosure has been magnetically
shielded, so you can safely place the floor-standing speaker next to your
television or video monitor.
Spiked Feet: The Cambridge Audio S70 floor-standing loudspeaker
includes a rectangular base and 4 spiked feet for added stability on your
carpeted floors. The spiked feet are adjustable, in case you have uneven floors.
Note: The floor-standing loudspeaker can be used with or without
the rectangular base and/or 4 spiked feet, in case you have tile or hardwood
floors.
