Features
Overview: The BG-E9 Battery Grip is
designed for the Canon EOS 60D digital SLR camera. It comes with two battery
magazines: the BGM-E9L, which can hold one or two LP-E6 Lithium-Ion batteries,
and the BGM-E9A, which can accommodate six "AA" alkaline batteries. No batteries
are included with the Battery Grip. When installed, the BG-E9 adds
approximately 1-3/4" to the overall height of the camera.
Controls: The Battery Grip is equipped with several
controls, conveniently placed for use when the camera is in the vertical
(portrait orientation) position. The controls include a shutter button, main dial,
AF Start button, AF point
selection/Magnify button, AE Lock/FE Lock/Index/Reduce button, and On/Off switch. With the switch in the
Off position, the controls on the
battery grip are no longer active; you should use the controls on the camera
body.
Installation: Before installation,
the battery and battery compartment cover are removed from the camera body. The BG-E9
then slides into the battery compartment and mounts to the bottom of the camera,
held in place by threading the attachment screw into the camera's tripod insert.
An additional tripod insert is provided on the bottom of the grip, so you can still
use a tripod or monopod. One or two LP-E6 batteries can be installed in the BGM-E9L
magazine. When two batteries are installed in the magazine, power is supplied
simultaneously from both batteries, effectively doubling the battery life. Six "AA" batteries
will power the camera when using the included BGM-E9A battery magazine. Because
of variations between battery brands, storage conditions, and the effect of cold
temperatures on alkaline batteries, use of "AA" batteries is recommended only
for emergencies.

Using Household Power: To connect to a household power
outlet, the optional AC Adapter Kit ACK-E6 (sold separately) should be used. The
adapter kit's DC coupler fits into one of the LP-E6 slots in the BGM-E9L battery
magazine.
Optional Hand Strap: The Battery Grip has a mount for the
optional Hand Strap E1. The Hand Strap provides a more secure grip when using
the Battery Grip on the camera.
