Features
5-Disc Changer: The Sony CDP-CE500 compact disc player features a
5-disc carousel. You can load two discs at a time.
Disc Compatibility: The Sony CDP-CE500 5-Disc Changer offers playback
of CD-Audio, CD-Text, and finalized CD-R or CD-RW discs (8 or 12cm).
MP3 Playback: The Sony 5-Disc Changer supports playback of MP3 (32-320
kbps/VBR) music files recorded onto a CD-R/RW disc or stored on a USB (MSC)
device. MP3 music files should be recorded in either ISO 9660 Level 1, Level 2,
or the Joliet extension format. The maximum number of recognizable MP3 files is
- 512 (255 folders) per disc and 5,000 (255 folders) per USB flash memory
device.
WMA/AAC Playback: The Sony 5-Disc Changer also supports playback
WMA (48-192 kbps), and AAC (48-320 kbps) stored on a USB (MSC) device. WMA/AAC
music files should be recorded in either ISO 9660 Level 1, Level 2, or the
Joliet extension format. A connected USB flash memory device may contain 5,000
total WMA/AAC music files, 255 folders, and 999 files per folder.
Text Information: The Sony CDP-CE500 will display CD-Text, ID3-tag
(ver.1.1/2.0), and WMA/AAC-tag text information (up to 15 characters). This lets
you view song, artist, and album information.
USB Record: You can connect an optional USB (MSC) flash memory device
to the unit's front-panel USB port and transfer music from an inserted disc to
the connected USB device. The audio file will be recorded in MP3. The amount of
free space required on the USB device is approximately 1MB per minute when
transferring music from a CD (required free space may be larger when
transferring music from an MP3 disc). You can record an entire disc or a single
track.
- CD Sync: You can easily transfer all the music on a disc to your
connected USB device via the unit's "CD SYNC" function.
- Record 1: You can also transfer a single track or MP3 file that
is currently being played by simply pressing the "REC USB" button.
Note: Up to 999 files/folders can be recorded.
Controls
Remote Control: An IR remote control (RM-ASU100) is included for
wireless operation of the Sony 5-Disc Changer. The remote operates off of two
"AA" batteries (included).
Disc Exchange: You can open the unit's disc tray while playing a disc,
so that you can check what disc are to be played next and replace discs without
interrupting playback of the current disc.
Playback Modes: The Sony 5-Disc Changer features Normal, Repeat, and
Shuffle playback modes.
- Normal Play: In Normal Play mode, you can play tracks/files in
sequential order.
- Repeat Play: You can play tracks/files repeatedly. You can repeat
all tracks/files on a disc or USB device. You can also play a single
track/file repeatedly. In addition, Repeat Play mode can be used with other
playback modes (Shuffle or Program), as well.
- Shuffle Play: In Shuffle Play mode, you can play tracks/files in
random order. You can select whether to play tracks/files on all discs (or
USB device), a specific disc, or in a specific folder.
- Program Play: You can pick out the tracks/files you like and
specify the playback order in a program containing up to 32 tracks/files.
The total playing time of your Program cannot exceed 99 minutes and 59
seconds.
Search Modes: The Sony CDP-CE500 offers various Search functions to
find your music.
- Direct Search: You can directly select a disc (1-5) from the
unit's front-panel or remote control You can also directly select a music
track/file from the remote's numeric keypad (0-10).
- Skip (Previous/Next): You can skip between tracks/files and discs
using the CD player's front-panel controls or included IR remote.
- Folder Search: You can select (up/down) folders on a MP3 disc or
USB device using the unit's remote control.
- Fast Forward/Rewind: You can fast-forward or rewind within a
track/file from the unit's front-panel controls or included IR remote.
Connections
Analog Outputs: The Sony CDP-CE500 5-Disc Changer is equipped with a
rear-panel stereo RCA analog output for connection to your home stereo receiver.
Digital Output: The Sony 5-Disc Changer is also equipped with a
rear-panel optical digital output for connection to your home theater receiver.
USB Port: The Sony CDP-CE500 is fitted with a front-panel USB (type-B)
port for connection of a USB (MSC) device. Your USB mass storage class device
must be formatted in FAT 16/32. You can listen to MP3 (32-320 kbps/VBR), WMA
(48-192 kbps), and AAC (48-320 kbps) music files stored on a compatible USB
flash-memory device.
Note: The CDP-CE500 will charge your connected USB flash memory
device (up to 500mA).
