Driver Technology
2-Way Speaker Design: The RC-6C is equipped with the following drivers:
- Tweeter: 1" aluminum dome tweeter,
mounted on a swiveling bridge that can be angled toward the
listening area (+/- approximately 25°)
- Woofer: 6-1/2" Kevlar cone woofer;
uses a ribbed elliptical surround
Surround: The woofer uses a patented Ribbed Elliptical Surround;
by changing the shape of the speaker surround to an ellipse, rather than the traditional
half roll, distortion is reduced and the maximum excursion is increased.
High Frequency EQ: A switch on the RC-6C's frame (behind the
grille) allows you to contour the high frequency output. The Cut position reduces
the output by 2 dB from 2 kHz to 20 kHz, useful when the speaker is mounted in a
very reflective room.
Break-In Period: ENERGY recommends that you play the RC-6C
for a 100 hour break-in period before playing at high volume and making final
sound adjustments. This is easily done by putting your compact disc player on
repeat mode while playing a CD with a wide dynamic range ant normal listening
levels.
Connections
Speaker Terminals: The speaker has a pair of spring posts
that can accept, pin connectors, single or dual banana plugs, or bare wire up to
12-gauge wire.
Mounting Options
Installation: The speaker can be installed in new or existing
construction; it requires a cutout diameter of 8 inches and is held in place with
four integral plastic mounting ears. The required depth to install the speaker is
5" from the mounting surface (this includes the thickness of the drywall).
Behind the opening there must be a 7/8" clearance around the speaker to
accommodate the ears. Speakers should be installed in drywall at least 3/8"
thick. A cardboard template is included to assist you in making the cutout.
Paintable: Both the plastic frame and aluminum grille can be
painted to match the ceiling; a cardboard paint mask is included.
