A smooth, domed ring around the PEI balanced dome tweeter virtually eliminates "bounce back" — reflected sound waves that interfere with direct sound coming from the tweeter itself. The result is wider "sweet spot" dispersion and more accurate midrange and high-frequency reproduction.

    Features

    Image Enhancer: The KFC-1379ie is equipped with Kenwood's patented Image Enhancer surrounding the tweeter. Its smooth rounded surface eliminates most of the reflected sound waves that would interfere with the direct sound waves coming from the tweeters. The end result is a better dispersion pattern, less distortion, and clear high-frequency reproduction. 

    Woofers: The woofer cones are silver Pearl Mica Injection-Molded Polypropylene. Uniform pearl mica crystals form an overlapping structure that adds strength and heat resistance to polypropylene; the result is reduced distortion and improved reliability.

    Tweeters: The speakers have a 1" PEI balanced dome tweeter. A semi-dome tweeter has a dome placed inside a cone. "Balanced dome" tweeters are semi-dome tweeters with equal reproduction area given the cone and dome portions of the tweeter.

    Surrounds: The speakers have a rubber surround.

    Grilles: The supplied hard plastic grilles have a unique 3-spoke design with a cutout for the Image Enhancer.

    Good speakers for the price

    I bought these to replace a set of old & distorting Infinity speakers in the front doors in my older-model car, so I didn't want to drop a lot of cash. For the price, these do the job quite well, I was pleasantly surprised. Low end is a bit weak, as can be expected, but they have a lot to give in the mid/upper mid range, and the highs are crisp without being harsh. Coupled with a set of decent 6x9's or something of that sort to fill in the weak low end will give you a good experience.

    These speakers went into the front door spots without any extra brackets or anything else in my 94 Civic EX that came with the AR system. Those paper cone speakers were all dry rotted and were hanging without suspensions, but they sounded OK when new but these Kenwoods are so much better! Not alot of bass but more than the originals and better mids and highs. Very much cleaner sounds. Like I stated....you cant beat these for the price. If looking for re-placements in your old civic without big alterations, go with these. Crutch threw in the wiring adapters for free too.

    I bought these to be unamped rear speakers to go with my Infinity sub, Polk component front speakers, and my Pioneer head. I got these speaker in order to fill out the sound from the rear. As I said, these are unamped and simply running off of the head unit. The RMS, Sensitivy, and peak of th head unit are all within the perameters of the speaker, but the speaker distorts like crazy. I have my Low pass (to the sub) set to 80 and my high to 125 (to the front amped and rear unamped speakers), so it is not getting any super low frequencies, yet when I crank up my stereo the mid cones literally distort, wobble, shake, and travel like they are going to pop out of the molding. To solve the problem I have to set the fade to 3/4 of the volume to the front speakers, so now very little sound comes out of the rear speakers. I am not a happy camper, however this was my first and only negative experience with Crutchfield. Everything else in the car I bought from Crutchfield and they Rock! I would highly recomend all Polk products. I think in this case, I got what I paid for.

    Excellent speakers at the discounted price. They popped right into the door panels of my Civic in about 10 minutes with the wire harnesses supplied from Crutchfield. I purchased them along with the KFC-1689ie's to replace my 10 year old speakers that were dry rotting. Both sets of speakers are made of quality materials that will last. I prefer the 1689's a little more because the 3 way speakers have noticeably better highs.

    I had to cut my door panels/doors them selves in my pickup to get these to fit, but that doesnt bother me (there in an 89 Toyota Pickup) And let me tell ya, it was worth the time and effort to seal them properly and hide all the wires and use the baffles.
    For the price of these speakers you will not be let down on how good they sound, the tweeters don't clap at all on my system, the midrange is one nasty little thumper as well. I listen to a wide range of music and with rap these things really take a beating but never skip a beat. Love watching them shake too lol.
