The 3/4"-thick "Sound Soaker" foam absorbs up to 87% of your engine noise, delivering a quieter listening experience in your vehicle. The reinforced aluminum skin creates a water/oil barrier that reflects 97% of radiant heat, protecting your hood's finish. Note: We've gotten great results using Dynamat Hoodliner by itself on a variety of vehicles. For engine compartments with high heat or noise levels, Dynamat recommends putting down a layer of Dynamat Xtreme first, and installing Hoodliner over it. You apply Dynamat Hoodliner to your hood's flat panel surfaces (not the ribs) the packet includes one 55-1/2" x 32-1/2" sheet (12 square feet), plenty for just about any hood. The first layer is a 1 mil reinforced, Aluminized heat reflector and water/oil barrier. "Sound Soaker" Urethane acoustic foam forms the middle layer. The third layer is a super aggressive 4 mil acrylic adhesive with an "EZ Peel" release liner. Benefits: The Hoodliner has the following benefits: Absorbs engine noise Stops hood paint failure Improves the look of the engine compartment Tough Urethane foam is easy to cut Reflects 97% of radiant heat and insulates EZ Peel-N-Stick application makes for an easy installation Installation Instructions: For proper installation, follow these instructions: Thoroughly clean each mounting surface with a quick-drying solvent that is residue free (Isopropyl Alcohol, Acetone or Lacquer thinner), removing any grease, dirt, oil, wax, moisture or rust. With the surface clean and smooth, a permanent bond is assured. Using a razor knife or scissors, cut to the desired shape and size. Remove release liner. On large area applications, remove only a portion (8-10 inches) of release liner at a time, working your way down and across the panel in sections. Heating the panel surface you are mounting to before applying the material is recommended to insure proper adhesion. Also, heating the Hoodliner will make the glue stickier. This will keep the Hoodliner in full contact with the panel maximizing material efficiency. Apply the Hoodliner to the panel surface, starting at the top corner and working your way down and across, pressing the material into place as you go. With a roller tool, burnish the Hoodliner to the surface. Starting from the center, work it into all contours of the panel. Even if it's a smooth panel, rolling the material will insure lasting adhesion and full contact with the panel surface removing any trapped air. First, at 5' x 3', I'm not sure it would cover most underhoods, much less mine which is not overly-large. Second, on the box it reads 'for optimal results, install over (a layer of) Dynamat Xtreme', which I did not have lying around the workshop. This was not hinted at either in the advertisement or in my pre-order tech support call. This is misleading and unhelpful. Of course I want 'optimal results', but don't necessarily want to pay more for it, or wait for the Dynamat Xtreme to arrive. So, disappointing on three counts, and this is before I find out if the product even works! 6 out of 17 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? I was skeptical whether the Hoodliner would cut it much without doing additional sound deadening on the floor and firewall. It actually worked far better than I had expected. Did a fantastic job of cutting engine noise across the spectrum and improved the listening (and driving!) experience. Well worth it. 22 out of 22 people found this helpful Was this review helpful?
