Enclosed Subwoofers 101

An enclosed subwoofer is a box with a subwoofer already installed. The advantage to buying an enclosed sub is that the manufacturer made the sub, then designed and built the box as a perfect match, so you'll get the best possible performance. Every enclosed sub has a maximum RMS power handling rating, so pair it with an amp with a similar RMS power rating to get the best performance.

    Features

Overview: The BT1024DVC features a water-resistant poly enclosure that houses a 10" poly woofer with a foam surround. The patented Bass Tube enclosure design eliminates bass standing waves for high accuracy, and superior efficiency.

Dual 4-ohm Voice Coils: This tube features dual 4-ohm voice coils that offer flexibility in wiring. When the voice coils are wired in parallel with each other, the tube presents a 2-ohm mono load. When the voice coils are wired in series with each other, the tube presents an 8-ohm mono load. In addition, each coil may be connected to a different amplifier channel and each channel will see a 4-ohm load. Each coil can handle 250 watts RMS, so the combined power handling is 500 watts RMS.

5-Way Binding Posts: The 5-way binding posts will accept bare wire, pin connectors, spade lugs, banana plugs, and dual banana plugs.

Installation: Each mounting strap has an attached mounting base that can be secured to your vehicle using the supplied self-tapping screws. Once the mounting bases are installed, the tube is held in place by the mounting straps. For best results, the tube should be mounted facing into a corner, and there should be 2" to 4" between the woofer and the corner into which the woofer is pointing.

    Probb. Buy again

Written By Chris, Montgomery, AL on Saturday, February 19, 2011

The bass is good, I love the sound from this. The only downside is the straps,
they wouldn't stop the thing from rotating around. I went to tighten it, and
one strap just snapped. I will contact to get a replacement.

    Big Bass For The Money

Written By John, Central Florida on Sunday, October 10, 2010

I have a 2005 corolla S with factory 6 speaker system, recently installed a 4 channel with a 10" bazooka dvc. Pounds pretty hard, and satified with the big bass that comes out that sub. I am running the sub bridged with full bass boost and 1/4 amp volume @40hz and the guy's at work think I'm running 2 12's in a box when I'm only running one SAS Bazooka dvc 10" bass tube. It does shake the corolla and rattles the glass and rear view mirror. Sounds pretty good and recommend it to anyone who knows how to install and tune sound systems. I'm happy and impressed with the tube. Remember, tuning is the key to get that big bass you want!!!

    Good but....

Written By James, Ansonia, CT on Tuesday, July 27, 2010

I have an 07 dodge ram 1500 reg. Cab and when first looking this was the perfect fit for my setup. I have an all alpine setup -cde103bt hu,45x4 power pack and m500 amp. The dvc setup of this tube was ideal and the size was perfect so i went with it. It is good but...it is just about up to and touching but not over the top with what you would want from a sub setup. Lots of boom and decent punch produced, but true volume is lacking from the single sub. I built a dual sub sealed enclosure and put 2 alpine 10" svc subs of the same power rating. I fiber filled the box and what a difference! One of these bazookas would probably be fine in a smart car or something small, but if you have the choice to go bigger or go home......go bigger! Lol! Great learning center topics helped me out with this, and the tech support was phenomonal! WTG crutchfield.

    Has some Nice Boomy Bass

Written By kb79, St Croix, Virgin Islands on Monday, May 03, 2010

I have it hooked to a Sound Ordinance M1500, and this thing def kicks.
It's more of a boomy sound then a hard punch, but that's what I would expect.

The housing itself feels very rugged, and the fact that it's some kind of plastic instead of FiberBoard makes me think it will withstand better and longer.

The speaker in the housing probably isn't the best there is, but really you're paying for the enclosure. If the speaker blows on me, I plan to just get another 10" made for that volume and mount it up.

But for now, it rattles my entire car.

    Lots of Bass, OK Quality

Written By Ronald, Chicago, IL on Wednesday, November 05, 2008
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I recently intalled a 10" DVC Bazooka tube in my 2008 Subaru WRX sedan.
I'm running it off of an Alpine MRP-450 mono bass amp fed by an Eclipse
CD3200 head unit. On the plus side, the Bazooka tube produces a fair
amount of bass and is very efficient, so you don't need a 1,000 watt mega-
amplifier to run it. On the negative side, I found the finish of the Bazooka
tube to be fairly poor. It has an uneven black textured finish that looks like
it was applied by a novice do-it-yourself hack. The rubber trim around the
woofer end of the tube was also very loose and ill-fitting on my tube. For
the money, the tube produces lots of bass even when hooked up to
moderately powerful amps. If the looks and build quality aren't a big deal
to you, you'll probably be happy with the Bazooka tube. If you like to show
your system off to your friends or are picky (like me) about the quality of
the fit and finish of your subwoofer, you might want to take a closer look in
person before purchasing to decide for yourself. Given the very reasonable
price, the Bazooka tube is a fair choice based on its performance merits.
The appearance and implied build quality are the trade-offs to keep the
    price down.

    Worst Subwoofer Product

Written By Tray, Orlando, FL on Monday, March 24, 2008

Stay clear of this product. I have a MTX 250D amp pushing this sub and it has blown twice in 3 months. SAS honors their warranty but to have two subs blow in that short of time is unacceptable. My installer told me not to buy this product but I wanted bass without taking up so much space. Bazooka subs were a lot better back in the late 80's, early 90's. I will never buy another one of their products.

    Awesome!

Written By Aldo, Laredo, Tx on Thursday, July 19, 2007
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

    This tube is just awesome!
I have an Alpine MRP-F250 a Kenwood equalizer KGC-4042 and pair of 6X9's and this tube and sounds great!! Bass is clear and with a lot of kick! Connect the subwoofer pre-amp of the equalizer in to channels 3 and 4 of the F250 with the low pass filter ON with the crossover in 250Hz. I'm driving the dual coil in stereo a channel per coil. Great combination.

Great tube for the money! Im a first time Bazooka owner and i'm hooked! The Bazooka manual is confusing but other than that I have had no problems.

It's compact and fits great behind a seat without taking up all of your cargo room.

    Great product, great base response!

    Best boom for the buck

Written By Morgan, Gainesville, FL on Wednesday, April 19, 2006

I got this tube about a year and a half ago. I've had an obsession with car audio since before could drive. (And I aint no spring chicken). This sub is perfect for someone who wants good bass, excellent sound reproduction and not a drain on their wallet. For a single 10" sub... it slams. Of course if you want bone rattling bass, you'll have to dish out some more cash for bigger, better speakers. But dollar for db., this is a GREAT deal.

***Better for hatchbacks and suv's unless you have an opening from your trunk to your cab.

    The Best Bass

Written By Dwayne, Woodbridge Va on Saturday, March 26, 2005

As a devoted bazooka enthusiast I must say bazooka have really done it. My first bazooka tubes was the el series. I have upgraded to these dual voice coil because I wanted more bass. The bass is so incredible people ask me what I have in there. When I tell them I have Bazooka in there they say no. I have two of the BT1024DVC installed in my plymouth voyager minivan. These are the best bass that money can buy. I will advise anyone to get them.
