How to shop for LED TVs
LED TVs use a backlight behind the screen (unlike OLED TVs, which have self-illuminating pixels). The backlight makes LED TVs brighter, so they're a great choice for rooms with a lot of ambient light.
There are three main LED backlight configurations to choose from: direct-lit, edge-lit, and full-array. Full-array is the most advanced type of LED backlight, and offers the best overall picture quality. Mini LEDs are the latest subset of full-array backlights. They use smaller, more densely packed LED lights for an even brighter image and more precise lighting.
