Overview: The TEAC HD-1 is a tabletop clock radio with a built-in HD
AM/FM tuner, an integrated iPod/iPhone dock, an a rear-panel auxiliary input.
The TEAC HD-1 offers hi-fi stereo sound and even features a headphone output for
private listening. The TEAC HD-1 employs a dual alarm system with snooze
function. For added convenience, the HD-1 includes an IR wireless remote
control.

LCD Screen: The TEAC HD-1 is equipped with a 3-line, 3-inch (diagonal)
LCD screen. The unit's LCD screen shows Clock display, EQ setting, and Source
input.
Dimmer: You can change the front panel's display brightness in
4-steps.
12/24-Hour Clock: The TEAC HD-1's clock can be set to a 12-hour or
24-hour mode.
Calendar: The TEAC HD-1 also lets you set the month, date, and year.
Dual Alarms: The TEAC HD-1 features two separate alarms (Alarm 1/Alarm
2). You can choose to wakeup to the unit's integrated buzzer, built-in AM/FM
tuner, or your docked iPod/iPhone. You can also set the alarm's volume level.
The alarm will play for approximately 1 hour before automatically turning off.
Snooze: The unit's alarm can be temporarily turned off for 6 minutes
at a time. You can use this function repeatedly during the 1 hour alarm cycle.
Sleep Timer: The HD-1 lets you go to sleep listening to your
iPod/iPhone or the built-in FM radio for predetermined amount of time. You can
adjust the sleep timer from 30, 45, 60, 75, 90, or 120 minutes. The HD-1 had an
independent volume setting for the sleep mode, so you can adjust the volume
without affecting the alarm volume.
Gradual Volume Increase/Decrease: The HD-1's playback volume will gradually
increase up to your set volume when the unit is turned on by the programmed
alarm. The Sleep Timer has a Gentle Sleep feature which gradually lowers the
volume.
Audio Features
Stereo Sound: The TEAC HD-1 features two full-range drivers inside a
bass-reflex enclosure (with 2 rear-firing ports) driven by a built-in amplifier
for superior hi-fi stereo sound that is crystal-clear.
6 EQ Presets: The TEAC HD-1 employs six Equalizer Presets for improved
audio fidelity. You can select from Rock, Pop, Classic, Jazz, Bass, or Normal.
Mute: You can mute the HD-1's sound temporarily by pressing the mute
button on the unit's front-panel or remote control.
Non-skid Rubber Feet: The HD-1 is equipped with non-skid rubber feet
to prevent the product from moving when you operate the controls.
HD Radio Tuner
HD Radio: The TEAC HD-1 is equipped with a built-in digital stereo
AM/FM HD Radio tuner. With the built-in HD Radio tuner, you can receive digital
AM/FM broadcasts from local stations where available. This new technology will
significantly improve audio quality and reception, as well as include
information such as artist name and song titles or traffic news, viewable on the
unit's display. HD Radio Technology will deliver high-quality digital sound. AM
digital will have FM-like quality in stereo, while FM digital will have CD-like
quality with static free and clear reception
Note: Right now there are about 2,000 radio stations broadcasting
using digital HD Radio technology in the U.S. To find HD Radio stations in
your area, visit the HD Radio website (HDRadio.com).
Multicasting: In addition to conventional broadcasts, with
HD Radio broadcasting, it is possible to choose from up to 8 multicast programs
(HD1 to HD8 and analog). There are also data programs for each program.
Display Information: AM/FM digital stations can offer text
and data such as artist names and song titles. The built-in HD Radio tuner
displays song title, artist and station information on the display of the HD-1.
Analog Broadcasts: In addition to HD AM/FM stations, the
HD-1 can also receive conventional analog AM/FM broadcasts.
Note: FM: 87.5 MHz to 107.9 MHz (200 kHz steps), AM: 520 kHz to
1710 kHz (10 kHz steps).
Preset Tuning: The HD-1 provides 10 AM and 20 FM station presets
(digital or analog).
iTunes Tagging: The TEAC HD-1's built-in HD Radio tuner offers iTunes
Tagging. It is possible to save the song's information (tag) from and HD Radio
broadcasting station to your docked iPod/iPhone. iTunes Tagging gives you the
ability to "tag" your favorite HD Radio songs and store the information on your
connected iPod/iPhone. Then later you can connect your iPod/iPhone to your PC
and preview or purchase the "tagged" music at the iTunes Music Store. The songs
will show up in a playlist called "Tagged" in iTunes the next time you sync your
iPod/iPhone. Then you can directly buy the songs you want from the iTunes Music
Store.
Note: iTunes tagging is supported by the following iPod & iPhone
models - iPod video (5th gen), iPod classic (80/120/160GB), iPod nano
(3rd/4th/5th/6th gen), iPod touch (1st/2nd/3rd/4th gen), iPhone
(2G/3G/3GS/4)
External Antennas: The HD-1 includes a Dipole FM antenna and an AM
antenna loop. The FM antenna features a threaded coaxial terminal and can be
upgraded with another external FM antenna. The AM antenna uses a proprietary
connection and cannot be replaced.
iPod/iPhone Compatible
iPod/iPhone Dock: The TEAC HD-1 features an integrated top-mount
iPod/iPhone dock to connect your compatible iPod or iPhone. The TEAC HD-1
supports audio playback, basic playback control, and charging of select iPods
and iPhones.
- Audio Playback: You can listen to music files from your
iPod/iPhone by simply connecting the iPod/iPhone to the HD-1's built-in
dock.
- Music Navigation: You can control basic playback functions, such
as Play/Pause, Fast Forward/Rewind, and Skip (Next/Previous) from the HD-1's
top-panel controls or the included remote. Your iPod/iPhone's advance menu
navigation functions will still need to be controlled from your iPod/iPhone's
clickwheel or touchscreen.
- Music Information Display: You will continue to use your iPod/iPhone's
LCD screen to view song/artist information.
- Charging: The HD-1 will charge your connected iPod or iPhone when
the tabletop radio is powered up.
iPod/iPhone Compatibility Chart: The TEAC HD-1 is "Made for

Note: Apple iPod/iPhone software updates may change
functionality results. If you download a newer software version, you may
need to reset the device and your iPod/iPhone to regain functionality.
If this doesn't work, you may need to revert to the older software
version or wait until an newer software update is available.
Video Output: The TEAC HD-1 features a rear-panel 3.5mm video output
jack and comes with a minijack-to-composite video cable. The unit's video output
lets you watch video from your docked iPod or iPhone on your connected
television or monitor.
Note: The unit's iPod video output supports the following iPod &
iPhone models - iPod video (5th gen), iPod classic (80/120/160GB), iPod nano
(3rd/4th/5th gen), iPod touch (1st/2nd/3rd/4th gen), iPhone (2G/3G/3GS/4).
Audio Connections
Auxiliary Input: The unit's rear-panel 3.5mm auxiliary input lets you
connect an external audio device, such as your portable audio player.
Line Output: The unit's rear-panel 3.5mm line output jack lets you
connect the HD-1 to an external amplifier.
Headphone Output: The TEAC HD-1 features a rear-panel 3.5mm headphone
output jack for connecting a set of headphones so you can listen to your music
privately. Once a set of headphones are connected to the unit's 3.5mm headphone
output jack, the system's speakers are muted.
Remote Control
Wireless Remote Control: The TEAC HD-1 comes supplied with an IR remote control for wireless operation of
the tabletop radio and your docked iPod/iPhone.
Note: The remote control operates on one CR2032 3V lithium
'coin-type' battery.
Power Requirements
AC Power Supply: The TEAC HD-1 operates off of standard AC household
current (AC12V/60Hz) using the attached 57" AC power cord.
Battery Backup: The TEAC HD-1 provides battery backup power for it's
built-in clock and presets, when the unit is momentarily disconnected from the
AC outlet or during a power outage. The HD-1 requires two "AAA" alkaline
batteries (not included) for battery backup.
Note: The battery backup compartment is located on the rear-panel of
the unit.
