Installation Description

Installing a 12" sub, two amps and 6x9 rear speakers in a standard cab pick-up truck can be done and everything is hidden and installed behind the seat. A custom wood mounting board was used for the amps and the stock carpet was retained for an extremly clean appearance. The sub box fit just between the two amps and still sounds great pounding through the bench seat. The 6x9's were mounted in custom hand made enclosures designed to fit in the door pillars just above the striker plates. The complete Sony Xplod system uses the incredible MP70 receiver which is just about skip proof and easy to use. The 10 disk mp3 changer is mounted under the driver's seat and holds thousands of my favorite tunes only a click away.

Q&A Section

Why did you decide to upgrade your A/V system?
I wanted the ability to play the music I wanted when and as loud as I wanted!

What's the first thing you show people about your installation?
Probably the amps and sub mounted behind the seat of the truck. It looks factory installed!

Why did you choose these products?
I liked the features of each of the components, the prices were right and I have always had great luck with Sony products.

What was the most difficult part of the installation?
Mounting the amps on the custom wood pieces and still using the factory carpet proved to be a great challenge but turned out great and has been reliable and a clean install!

What plans, if any, do you have for future upgrades?
I would like to add some bigger front speakers sometime and I need to add some Dynamat to stop the mega vibes in the vehicle!
