Works but poor reception

Written By terpfan1954, Davidsonville, MD on Friday, December 21, 2012
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Adapter cable fits perfectly but my radio reception did not seem to be as good as with my factory radio. Not sure if this is a result of the Pioneer radio the I installed or if there is substantial signal attenuation associated with the adapter.
Pros:
Easy install
Cons:
Radio reception

Antenna Adapter

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a simple strait-forward antenna hookup. allot of people were confused with the fact that this has main wire plus a blue wire; you hook that blue wire strait to the blue amp/ power antenna wire that will come off the new wire harness from the new head unit.

The product was good however the instructions were lacking. No informatiom on connecting the single wire. Also My radio is an HD reciever but now I cannot recieve HD.
Pros:
Quality product. 10-15-2012
Cons:
Had to call to find out where to put the blue wire. Had to remove dash again because radio wouldn't work, only static, +12vdc required to power ant preamp.(blue wire)

This works, but you need to attach the blue wire to the _switched_ +12V if your radio doesn't have a dedicated antenna control wire.
Pros:
Works.
Cons:
Needs instructions for when the radio you're installing doesn't have a dedicated antenna control wire.

Antenna adapter

Written By Ben, NJ on Sunday, August 19, 2012
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Should be ok but I wasn't sure which wire goes to the one with this adapter. Turns out I hooked up the wrong one so no FM right now. I need to rewire that to connect to the power wire from the head unit and not the vehicle harness.
Pros:
Should be good. Maybe clear instructions on where the blue wire needs to connect.
Cons:
No instructions.

missing directions

Written By Discoverer, RI on Friday, July 27, 2012
Installed in a 2007 Honda Civic EX
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Mine came sans directions. A quick tech-support call uncovered the purpose of the blue wire; it's to power an antenna amp, which Honda uses to supplement the signal from the glass-embedded antenna. Once the antenna blue wire is soldered to the (Kenwood) radio blue/white switched-power wire, signal strength was restored to what might be expected.
Pros:
works
Cons:
no directions, especially for the blue wire, which powers an antenna amp

Blue Wire

Written By Jon, Takoma Park, MD on Tuesday, June 26, 2012
Installed in a 2006 Honda Pilot
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Works great. Excellent reception. I used this with a Pioneer AVIC-X930BT and the Honda/Acura Receiver Harness/adapter, Crutchfield Item# 120701721. The blue wire on the antenna adapter connects to the blue wire on the Honda Receiver AND the blue wire from the Pioneer receiver harness. Without that third blue wire from the Pioneer harness, the reception was terrible.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It attaches to the wiring harness perfectly but lacks instructions to tell you what to do with the blue wire. Had to call technical assistance and they were able to easily answer my question.
Pros:
Helps make the installation easy.
Cons:
Needs clearer installation instructions.
