Features
2.1 Digital Cinema: The Boston Acoustics SoundWare XS
Digital Cinema home theater system delivers an instant audio performance upgrade
for your flat screen TV and comes in a compact package. This 2.1 virtual
surround sound system features two diamond-shaped satellite speakers with
articulating wall brackets, as well as a powerful subwoofer for deep bass. It
also includes two sets of analog AUX inputs for additional sources, dedicated
movie and music playback modes, and Bluetooth compatibility for wireless music
streaming. The system also includes a convenient credit-card size IR remote
control.
Digital Optimized Virtual Surround (DOVS): Boston's Digitally
Optimized Virtual Surround (DOVS) technology makes an authentic cinema surround
sound experience possible with just two channels and a subwoofer. DOVS decodes
the full, Dolby Digital 5.1 channel audio signal from the source material
and applies a proprietary process to derive the ideal 2.1-channel version of the
original surround sound mix.
Dual SoundWare XS Satellites: The Boston Acoustic SoundWare
XS Digital Cinema features two matching ultra-compact satellite loudspeakers.
The
SoundWare XS satellite speakers are incredibly small, yet provide high
performance sound. Unlike many satellite speakers, the SoundWare XS satellites
are true two-way speakers with a separate mid-bass driver and tweeter that
offers a 150Hz to 20kHz frequency response. Each Boston Acoustic SoundWare XS
satellite speaker features a high performance 1/2" fabric dome tweeter and a
high performance 2-1/2" treated paper mid-bass driver with a rubber surround.
The satellite speakers employ an acoustic suspension (sealed) enclosure for detailed,
accurate performance. Each SoundWare XS satellite speaker features a pair of
gold-plated spring-loaded speaker terminals that will accept up to 16-gauge
speaker wire.
Powered Subwoofer w/ BassTrac Circuitry: The powered subwoofer is
equipped with a 250-watt amplifier which drives the subwoofer and the two
connected satellite speakers. The powered subwoofer features a front-firing 8"
graphite injected polymer woofer with foam surround, which utilizes Deep Channel
Design (DCD) for increased bass response. DCD is a deeply
grooved pole plate that enables the voice coil of the subwoofer to travel
farther for greater output without bottoming out. The powered subwoofer uses an
acoustic suspension (sealed) enclosure for tight, accurate bass output. The powered subwoofer utilizes BassTrac circuitry for tight,
distortion-free bass at all output levels.
Note: All of the system's connections (analog & digital) are found
on the rear-panel of the powered subwoofer.
Controls
Music/Movie Playback Modes: With separate movie and music playback
modes, you can tailor the sound to suit the content. In movie mode, enjoy crisp,
clear movie dialog and powerful cinematic special audio effects; while music
mode delivers concert-quality music reproduction. And after you set this option
once, the system automatically remembers your setting for next time.
Remote Control: A credit card-size IR remote is included for setting
up and controlling the system. The credit-card remote can also be used to
program the system's external IR control pod to your television's remote. After
the system is programmed to work from your own TV's remote, the supplied remote
can still work as a backup.
Subwoofer Volume: In addition to the system's main volume control, the
powered subwoofer features a separate level control to increase or decrease the
system's bass output.
Auto Power On/Off: The powered subwoofer will turn on
automatically when an audio input signal is received and off several minutes
after the audio signal stops.
Connections
Digital Input: The Boston Acoustic SoundWare XS Digital Cinema is
fitted with a digital optical (toslink) input to connect your flat-panel TV.
Since there is only one digital input, connect your Blu-ray player &
Satellite/Cable box to your television and then connect your TV's digital output
to the SoundWare XS Digital Cinema.
Analog Input: The SoundWare XS Digital Cinema also features a stereo
RCA input and stereo minijack input to connect additional analog sources, such
as a portable MP3 player.
Bluetooth Audio Streaming: The Digital Cinema features
built-in Bluetooth (v2.1+EDR) and supports the Bluetooth A2DP (v1.2) profile.
The SoundWare XS Digital Cinema system allows you to stream audio from your
Bluetooth enabled device; such as your Apple iOS device, Android device,
smartphone, tablet, or MP3 player. The Digital Cinema
system can be paired to more than one device (although only one such device can
play music via Bluetooth at one time). Once you have paired your device, the
2.1ch system will automatically search for available paired devices when you
select the unit's Bluetooth input. Typical range is up to 33 feet.
Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some
Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may
not support all features when used with the Boston Acoustic Digital Cinema.
AC Power: The included powered subwoofer will need to be plugged into
an AC wall outlet or surge protector.
Mounting Options
Placement: The Boston Acoustic SoundWare XS satellite speakers feature MagnaGuard
magnetic shielding which ensures the speaker's magnetic field does not interfere
with a television's picture. The Boston Acoustics SoundWare satellites are
compact, high performance speakers that can be placed virtually anywhere. Their
unique geometric shape & design gives you multiple mounting and placement
options, so you can place them on a shelf or mount them on a wall at almost any angle. The supplied
mounting hardware allows you to mount the speakers flush or in a corner, and
their pivoting mounting brackets let you aim the sound where you want it. Each
speaker also includes a 1/4"-20 threaded insert for aftermarket wall-mount
brackets or stands, and a tab for attaching a security device.
Mounting Hardware: Included with each satellite speaker is
an assortment of mounting hardware. Two metal keyhole-slot brackets are
included; one for a flat wall and one for a corner. If you use a keyhole-slot
bracket, you must attach the supplied pivoting ball mount to the speaker. The
pivoting ball mount allows the speaker to pivot 20° in either direction and
pivot down up to 40° when mounted to a flat wall. The corner mount bracket will
not allow the speaker to pivot side-to-side. A set screw keeps the speaker from
moving once it has been positioned.
