Overview: The Garmin Tracking Unit (GTU 10) combines a web-based
tracking service and GPS technology so that you can keep watch on your loved
ones, pets, vehicle, luggage, or other valuables. The GTU 10 allows you to
receive location alerts via email or text message so you'll know where your
belongings are at all times. With the GTU 10, you'll even be able to pinpoint
locations on a map when used with a computer or compatible smart phone. The GTU
10 is durable, lightweight, easy to set up, has a rechargeable battery, and
includes a one-year service plan with purchase (charges apply thereafter).
Rugged Design: The Garmin GTU 10 is compact (1.325"W x
0.795"H x 3.095"D),
lightweight (1.71 oz), and waterproof (IPX7).
Coverage Area: The Garmin GTU 10 is equipped with a high-sensitivity
GPS receiver and provides coverage area for the entire United States, via GSM
(Global Systems for Mobile) wireless connection.
Note: There is no ability to add maps.

allowing you to use it to fit your lifestyle.

Tracking Plans: The Garmin GTU 10 offers two tracking plans to meet
your needs.
- Standard Tracking: With Standard Tracking you'll be able to
locate the GTU 10 whenever you need to, using your computer or mobile
device. You'll be able to see the location of your device on an easy-to-read
map. You'll also be able to access the last 10 points of daily track
history. With Standard Tracking, your track history is recorded anytime you
request location, a geofence boundary is crossed (if geofences are being
applied) or low battery/powered off is detected. Standard Tracking is
an annual service plan ($49.99), with the option to automatically renew when it
expires to ensure uninterrupted service.
- Deluxe Tracking: When you add the Deluxe Tracking service plan to
your Standard Tracking service plan, you'll be able to locate the GTU 10 and
get a more detailed picture of where the device has been. With Deluxe
Tracking, you can access 7 days of track history. You can also control the
level of track history detail by specifying the intervals you would like to
record track points. Deluxe Tracking works in conjunction with Standard
Tracking, so you'll get the same great features as always. You can still
locate the GTU 10 whenever you need to, using your computer or mobile
device. And in addition to the track points being recorded at your specified
intervals, your track history would also be recorded anytime you request
location, a geofence boundary is crossed (if geofences are being applied),
or low battery/powered off is detected. Deluxe Tracking is a monthly service
plan ($4.99) that you add to the annual Standard Tracking service plan, with
the option to automatically renew when it expires to ensure uninterrupted
service.
Note: When you purchase the GTU 10, it comes with
1 year of Standard Tracking Plan, so you'll be ready to go once you register and
activate it in your Garmin account. Before you can use the GTU 10, you must register and active
it on your computer at http://my.garmin.com.
Tracking The Device: You can set tracking settings at
http://my.garmin.com. From here you can locate the device on a map, create
geofences, and manage notifications.
- Current Location: You can request the current location from a
computer or smart phone. You can then view the location of the GTU 10 device
on a map using the tracking application.
- Track History: Track History is a log of where the GTU 10 device
traveled. The detail level of your tracking history depends on your service
plan and the tracking method you choose.
- Geofences: You can set up geofences online and receive text
message or email alerts when the GTU 10 has entered or exited an area. A
geofence is a virtual boundary that you can create. You are alerted when the
device enters or exits a geofence. You can set up to 10 geofences. The
virtual boundaries of your geofences are accurate up to approximately 5
meters.
Text Message & Email Alerts: If your phone can receive text messages,
you can set up text message alerts. You can also set up email notifications.
Mobile App: There is a Garmin GTU 10 mobile application available for
Android (OS 2.1 or higher) and iPhone (iOS3 or higher) smart phones. With the mobile application, you can manage the
GTU 10 device in the same way you do on your computer.
Family/Friend Notifications: You can even allow family members and
friends to receive notifications from their computer or compatible smart phone.
Auto Route: For the ability to automatically route to the GTU 10
tracking device, you can use a Garmin nuLink device (sold separately). Using a
compatible Garmin nuLink device, you can navigate to the last know GTU 10
location.
Mounting Options: The included carrying pouch, carabiner clip, and
velcro strips let you easily attach the device to backpacks, vehicles, and pet
collars.
- Carrying Pouch: The GTU 10 includes a nylon carrying pouch to
attach it to your pets collar. This device should be used only with the
provided carrying pouch.
- Carabiner Clip: You can use the included carabiner clip to attach
the GPS tracking device (inside carrying case) to an object, such as a
backpack. do no use the carabiner clip to attach the device to your pet.
- Velcro: You can use the velcro mount to attach the device to an
object inside your vehicle. The case is not needed when using the adhesive
mount.
Note: For optimal performance, keep the GTU 10 device facing
up when mounted.
Mini-USB port: The Garmin GTU 10 is equipped with a mini-USB (type-B)
port and includes a 39" mini-USB (type-B) to USB (type-A) cable to connect the
GPS tracking device to your computer for activation, management, and charging.
Computer Requirements: Your computer will need to meet the following
requirements to use the Garmin GTU 10 tracking software.
- Windows XP SP3 or newer, or any Intel-based or PowerPC G4 or later Mac
(OSX10.5.8 o r later)
- 1GB RAM
- at least 1024 x 768 display
- high speed Internet access
Rechargeable Battery: The Garmin Tracking unit (GTU 10) features a
built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery with up to a 4 week battery life. In
order to charge the device, it must be connected to your computer via the
included mini-USB to USB cable. A full charge can take up to 2 hours. The LED is
red while the device is charging and turns green when fully charged.
