Features
Overview: The SCV1 is a vehicle satellite radio tuner package that not only receives Sirius
audio entertainment but also receives family-friendly live Sirius backseat TV
content. The SCV1 can be connected to a wide variety of aftermarket and OEM
radios. The SCV1 Sirius Radio and Backseat TV package includes the following -
SiriusConnect audio/video tuner, display/control unit, dual Sirius vehicle
antennas, two IR wireless remote controls, SiriusConnect cable, power harness and
audio/video cables.
Note: This system requires an external
backrest or overhead video monitor (sold separately) with a composite
video/stereo audio input to view Sirius video content and a car stereo system with an auxiliary input
or FM tuner to listen to Sirius Radio content. This system
has been optimized for use with an external monitor 10" or smaller.
Sirius Satellite Radio: Sirius Satellite Radio features more
than 120 streams of original programming beamed coast-to-coast, including 65
streams of commercial-free, digital-quality music, and news, talk, sports,
entertainment, and children's programming.
Note: Satellite radio service is available only within
the continental United States. Service is not available in Alaska and
Hawaii.
Sirius Backseat TV: Sirius Backseat TV offers the following
family-friendly channels - Nickelodeon, Disney Channel, Cartoon Network Mobile.
Note: Sirius Backseat TV requires a subscription in addition to an
active Sirius Satellite Radio subscription (each subscription sold
separately).
Multi-Zone Operation: The SiriusConnect SCV1 allows you to listen to
Sirius Radio through your vehicle's stereo system in the front of your vehicle,
while your kids watch Sirius Backseat TV in the rear of your vehicle using an
optional external video monitor (sold separately).
SiriusConnect Audio/Video Tuner: The SiriusConnect Audio/Video Tuner
allows for Sirius Satellite Radio and Sirius Backseat TV reception. The SiriusConnect
Audio/Video Tuner comes with attached mounting brackets which allow you to mount
the unit to a flat surface of your vehicle using the supplied hardware. The
mounting brackets can also be removed if drilling screw holes is not possible.
the SiriusConnect A/V tuner measures 6.415" wide x 1.75" tall x 5.875" deep. The SiriusConnect Audio/Video Tuner features the following connections.
- Power: 4-plug vehicle power connector used to connect supplied
15' power/ground harness. The other end of the harness must be hardwired to
your vehicle's 12-volt electrical system.
- SC Control: Proprietary multi-pin connection for the supplied 15'
SiriusConnect cable to connect to the supplied Display Control Unit.
- Audio/Video Out: Stereo RCA audio and composite video connections
used to connect the SCV1 to your external monitor. These connections will
only output Sirius Backseat TV audio and video. A 8' audio/video cable is
provided.
- Audio Out: Stereo RCA audio output for a direct connection to an
auxiliary audio input to your vehicle's radio. This output will send either
Sirius Satellite Radio audio or Sirius Backseat TV audio to the vehicle
headunit, depending on the mode select by the DCU. An 15.25' stereo audio
cable is provided.
- FM Out: Connection for the FM Direct Adapter. The FMDA must be
used when a direct audio connection to your vehicle's radio is not used.
- IR In: 3.5mm connection for the supplied infrared receiver eye
for the video remote control.
- Antenna 1 & 2: Dual SMB antenna connections for the two
supplied magnetic antennas.
Display Control Unit: The SCV1 includes a Display Control Unit (DCU)
which provides an interface to control the Sirius A/V tuner. The DCU can tune
and display the Sirius radio channels and can also control the Sirius Backseat
TV and change TV channels, as well as displaying TV programming information. The
Display Control Unit connects to the SiriusConnect Audio/Video Tuner using the
supplied 15' SiriusConnect cable. The Display Control Unit features a 3-line LCD
display for its Sirius Radio, clock (12/24hr) and menu information. You can
change between Channel Name, Artist, and Song Title for the Sirius Radio
information. The LCD display's brightness and contrast can be adjusted to suit
your viewing needs. The DCU should be mounted in the front seating area of your
vehicle, where it can be easily seen and operated by the driver such as on the
center console or dash. The unit comes supplied with plastic mounting bracket
which can mount the unit to a flat surface of your vehicle using screws. The
unit can also be attached to your dash or console using the supplied hook & loop
strip. The DCU measures 4.485" wide x 1.575" tall x 0.745" deep.
Twin Antennas: The SCV1 uses a special diversity antenna system that
requires the us of two antennas mounted at opposite ends of the your vehicle to
maximize video signal reception when driving in areas with heavy foliage or lots
of buildings. It is recommended that the antennas be mounted 36" or greater
apart (24'' minimum if necessary). The two compact Sirius antenna have a
powerful magnetic base that allow you to mount the antennas on the roof of your
vehicle. The antennas need to be positioned 36" apart in such a way that they
will also be free of mechanical and line-of-sight obstructions. The attached
antenna cable is 21' long. The antennas measure 1.605" wide x 0.505" tall x
2.005" deep
FM Direct Adapter: The FMDA is used if your vehicle's headunit does
not have a connection for a direct audio input. The FMDA should be located near
the headunit as the vehicle's FM antennas will need to be connected to it. The
supplied Sirius FM Direct Adapter is a hardwired FM adapter that allows you to
feed the Satellite Radio signal from the SCV1 directly into your car radio via
the antenna connection. You will use your FM radio's frequency (88.1-107.9) to
hear your Sirius Radio content. You also get to keep your local AM and FM
stations when Sirius Radio is turned off. The FM Direct Adapter box measures
1.875" wide x 1.25" tall x 1.8125" deep. The FMDA features the following
connections.
- To Radio: Male Motorola antenna plug on a 18" cable, plugs into
the vehicle's AM/FM radio antenna input
- To FM Antenna: Female Motorola jack on the side of the switch
box, accepts the vehicle's antenna cable
- SIRIUS Antenna: Male 2.5mm mini-jack on a 19.5' cable, plugs into
the FM Out modulated output on Sirius A/V tuner
Note: The FM Direct Adapter only functions for the Sirius
Satellite Radio portion of the SCV1 and does not work with Sirius Backseat
TV. Some vehicles (such as select GM vehicles, Volkswagens, Nissans, etc.)
may require antenna adapters in order to connect the FM adapter Box to your
vehicle's OEM antenna connectors. Please consult the Crutchfield Vehicle
Selector to see if OEM antenna adapters are needed.
Dual Remote Controls: The SCV1 Sirius Radio + Backseat TV package
comes supplied with two IR wireless remote controls. One is used to operate the
Satellite Radio functions of the SiriusConnect A/V tuner while the other is used
to operate the Satellite TV functions of the SiriusConnect A/V tuner. Sirius
Radio channels can be directly accessed using the number keys on the supplied
audio remote control.
Video Remote Eye: The IR eye receives the backseat TV remote control
signals and should be mounted in the rear seat area where your external video
monitor is located. It can be mounted in such locations as on the rear of the
center console or on the pillar behind on of the front doors. The rear seat
remote IR features an attached 8' cord terminated by a male 3.5mm minijack
connector which plugs into the IR input of the SiriusConnect A/V tuner. If
needed, the IR eye cable can be extended by using a 1/8" mini-stereo extension
cable (sold separately).
Sirius Presets: You can store up to 30 of your favorite Satellite
Radio channels as presets for quick access. Presets are stored in five banks (A,
B, C, D, E), each containing six channel presets, numbered 1 to 6. Sirius
Backseat TV presets are automatically stored as presets 1, 2 and 3 in Video
mode.
Memo/Seek/Alert Function: The Memo feature allows you to capture and
store information about the programming, artist name, song title, or sports
team, on the currently tuned Satellite Radio channel, up to a total of 20
listings. If the Seek function is enabled, when the unit is powered on, it
automatically searches the incoming channels to determine if a match is made to
an artist's name, song title, or sports team store in memory. If any matches are
found, a screen will appear for two seconds displaying Song Alert, Artist Alert,
or Game Alert, depending upon the type of alert.
Sports Alert: Sports Alert allows you to store your favorite sports
team in memory. The SCV1 will constantly scan the Sirius Radio channels and will
sound an alert when a team you stored in memory is playing or when there is a
score update for a team depending on which option you have chosen for that team.
Teams which you selected and are currently playing will be display in a category
called My Game Zone. You may select one team for each sports league (NFL, NBA,
NHL, MLB) and the college category.
Parental Controls: The SCV1 can password protect any channels you do
not want others to access with out your permission using a custom user 4-digit
pass-code. Locked channels will not appear in the channel list. The pass-code
will need to entered from the audio remote control.
