File/Folder Search: This search
function allows navigation through compressed music files' folders to find a
specific file or for playback.
Playback Features: The XDMA6540
offers playback features such as Repeat, Random & Intro scan.
- Repeat: You can repeat a
single track, a specific folder, or an entire disc.
- Random: You can shuffle the
playback order of all your songs or only the songs in a specific folder.
- Intro Scan: You can scan the
first 10 seconds of each track or the first 10 seconds of each track in a
folder.
Off Insert/Eject: A CD disc can be inserted or ejected with
the power off. When a disc is inserted with the power off, the unit will
automatically power up & begin playback.
Auto Reload: When a CD is ejected and left sticking out of
the CD slot for approximately 15 seconds, the unit automatically reloads the CD
to protect it from damage.
USB/SD-Card Support
USB Port: The Dual XDMA6540 is equipped with a front-panel
USB (type-A) port for playback of MP3/WMA files stored on a USB mass storage
device.
The unit's USB port will also charge your USB device during connection.
SD-Card Slot: The Dual XDMA6540 is equipped with hidden
SD-card slot (behind detachable face-plate) for playback of MP3/WMA files
stored on a SD/SDHC memory card (up to 16GB). The XDMA6540 offers the following
playback features for MP3/WMA SD-card files - File/Folder Search, Fast
Forward/Reverse, Repeat/Random, & Intro Scan.
Playback Controls: The XDMA6540 offers the following playback features
for MP3/WMA files stored on your USB (MSC) device or SD memory card.
- File/Folder Search: This search

iPod/Aux Connection
iPod/iPhone Direct: The Dual
XDMA6540 features a direct USB control system for your iPod or iPhone. To play
music from your iPod/iPhone device, connect the USB/Dock cable (included with
your iPod/iPhone) to the XDMA6540's front-panel USB port. Playback will begin automatically. You can control your iPod/iPhone from
the head unit, or your iPod/iPhone's clickwheel or touchscreen. You can search
your iPod/iPhone's music from the XDMA6540 by Playlist, Artist, Album, Song,
Genre, Audiobook, or Podcast. The head unit also supports Fast Forward/Reverse,
Repeat/Random, & Intro playback functions for your iPod/iPhone. The Dual
XDMA6540 will display song, artist, & album information; as well as charge
your connected iPod/iPhone.
iPod/iPhone Compatibility Chart: The Dual XDMA6540 is

Note: Apple iPod/iPhone software updates may change
functionality results. If you download a newer software version, you may
need to reset the head unit and your iPod/iPhone to regain functionality. If
this doesn't work, you may need to wait until a newer software update is available.
iPod/iPhone Cradle: The Dual XDMA6540 includes an
iPod/iPhone cradle which provides a place to secure your iPod or iPhone next to
the Dual head unit. The cradle will attach to the XDMA6540 when ISO-mounting or
DIN-mounting the head unit in your dash.
Dual Auxiliary Inputs: The Dual XDMA6540 is equipped with a
front-panel 3.5mm auxiliary input & a rear-panel stereo RCA auxiliary input.
- Stereo Minijack (3.5mm) Input: The XDMA6540 features a front-panel 3.5mm auxiliary
input for temporary connecting an external portable audio device, such as a portable MP3
player.
- Stereo RCA Input: The XDMA6540 is fitted with a rear-panel stereo
RCA auxiliary input for permanent connection of an external audio source.
Radio Functions
AM/FM Tuner: The Dual XDMA6540 features a built-in AM/FM
tuner with manual, seek, scan, & preset tuning.
Preset Tuning: The built-in AM/FM tuner allows you to store
up to 18 FM station presets and 12 AM station presets. You can tune your presets
manually or have the head unit do it automatically.
Scan Tuning: Press the Scan button on the included remote
control to preview strong stations on the current band, pausing for five seconds
at each. Press Scan again to select station or cancel the function.
Local: The Local function allows only strong radio stations
to be received, blocking stations with weaker signals.
European Tuning: You can switch the tuner between USA or
European tuning.
HD Radio Ready (with iTunes Tagging): HD Radio operation
requires connection of the Dual HDM90 HD Radio tuner (070HDM90,
sold separately). With HD Radio you will be able to receive digital AM/FM
broadcasts from local stations where available. This new technology will
significantly improve audio quality and reception, as well as include
information such as artist name and song titles or traffic news, viewable on the
receiver's display. The Dual HDM90 HD Radio tuner is also capable of iTunes
tagging. iTunes tagging gives you the ability to tag a song (up to 64) and
stores it to a connected iPod. The next time your iPod is connected to iTunes,
the tagged songs are displayed with the option to purchase them from the iTunes
Store.
Note: This function can be operated with the following
iPod/iPhone models - iPod nano (3rd/4th/5th/6th gen), iPod classic
(80/120/160GB), iPod touch (1st/2nd/3rd/4th gen), & iPhone (2G/3G/3GS/4).
SiriusXM Ready: The Dual XDMA6540 comes ready for SiriusXM
programming with access to XM & Sirius Satellite Radio stations. Thanks to its
proprietary SiriusXM Connect port, you can add the optional
SXV200V1 SiriusXM Connect tuner and receive more than 150 channels of
exclusive programming directly from SiriusXM, via the "SiriusXM
All Access" package (subscription required). Visit

of the SXV200 SiriusXM Connect tuner include:
- Channel list displays a list of all available channels
- Category Search searches for channels in a certain category
- Direct Channel input allows you to directly enter a station number using the
remote control
- Information such as Channel Name, Artist Name, and Song Title
can be viewed on the head unit's display
- Up to 18 SiriusXM Satellite Radio station presets
- iTunes Tagging for your connected iPod or iPhone
Note: A separate SiriusXM Satellite Radio subscription
is required (operates on the XM Network). If you already have a Sirius
Satellite Radio subscription, this radio cannot be added as a discounted
second unit. If you have an existing XM Satellite Radio subscription, you
can add this unit as a discounted second unit.
Bluetooth/Remote Control
Built-in Bluetooth: Bluetooth hands-free communication is
built into the Dual XDMA6540, making it easy to integrate a Bluetooth
enabled cellular phone (up to 10). Bluetooth is a two-way wireless communication
system allowing you to make & receive cell phone calls, or stream digital audio
from your Bluetooth enabled phone on the XDMA6540 CD receiver.
- Hands-free Communications (HFP): The built-in
Bluetooth hands-free feature allows you to talk on your cell phone through
the XDMA6540 without the need of holding it in your hand, which helps avoid
any traffic violations by keeping your focused on the road. Incoming calls
will be automatically appear on the display and a ring tone will heard
through your car speakers. You can answer a call from the head unit or have
the head unit automatically answer any incoming calls. You can dial a number
from the head unit or the included remote control. In addition, you can view a list of the 10 most
recent phone calls dialed, received, or missed. The XDMA6540 even supports
call waiting. An external microphone is included for better audio
performance (no integrated front-panel mic).
- Audio Streaming (A2DP/AVRCP): The built-in Bluetooth audio streaming
feature allows you to stream digital audio from your Bluetooth enabled
mobile phone to the XDMA6540 & control the playback of the audio through
the head unit.
Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology,
some mobile devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not
support all features when used with the XDMA6540.
Wireless Remote Control: The XDMA6540 comes supplied with a
21-button IR wireless remote control which provides complete control of the Dual
CD Receiver.
Steering Wheel Remote Compatibility: The head unit features
an OEM steering wheel remote control input on the rear of the unit to allow you
to keep your vehicle's radio steering wheel remote controls when used with the
optional PAC SWI-RC Steering Wheel Control Interface Adapter (541SWIRC,
sold separately); or the optional Metra ASWC Steering Wheel Control Interface
Adapter (120ASWC,
sold separately).

Audio Section
MOSFET Amplifier: The Dual XDMA6540 is equipped with a
MOSFET amplifier. Compared to conventional power supplies, the MOSFET
amplification circuit is smaller and more efficient, and it delivers increased
power with less distortion and absolutely zero on/off switching noise. More
power means louder and cleaner music at higher volumes because you're not
pushing the limits of the amplification circuit.
CEA2006 Compliant: The power specifications for the XDMA6540
are compliant with the CEA2006 Mobile Amplifier Power Testing and Measurement
standards from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These standards were
developed as a way to equitably compare power specs from model to model and
between manufacturers. The power output specs for the XDMA6540 are as follows:
- CEA2006 Specs: 18 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms,
20Hz-20kHz, 1% THD-N)
- Maximum Power Output: 60 watts x 4 channels (240 watts
total)
Preset EQ Curves: The Dual CD Receiver features the
following preset EQ curves (Flat, Pop, Jazz, Classic, Beat, Rock, & User) to
customize your music listening.
Bass &Treble: The Bass & Treble can be independently
adjusted from -6 to +6. Bass & Treble settings are retained for each mode
individually. Any adjustments to the Bass or Treble settings automatically
cancel the current EQ curve.
Loudness: The Loudness function enhances the bass & treble
frequencies at low volumes. The Loudness can be set to 1, 2, 3, or Off.
2V/6Ch Preamp Outputs: The Dual XDMA6540 is equipped
with three pair of 2-Volt preamp outputs (Front/Rear/Subwoofer). The front &
rear speakers are fading, while the subwoofer output is non-fading. The
subwoofer preamp output's level can be adjusted independently from 0-12.
Adjusting the subwoofer level to 0 turns the subwoofer output off.
Source Volume Level: The Source Volume Level control allows
a gain adjustment for each audio source (Tuner, CD, Aux and USB). You can set
the source volume level (+/-6dB) for each mode, depending on the relative volume
of each audio source.
Program Volume: You can se the XDMA6540 to power-on to the
same volume level (1-46) every time.
Key Beep: When this function is enabled, every button press
will output a beep tone.
Display Features
Detachable Face: The Dual CD Receiver features a detachable
faceplate and comes supplied with a hard-plastic carrying case to store the
receiver's face when detached. The head unit includes two
face-fixing screws for use if you prefer that the unit's faceplate
always stays attached.
Note: An optional soft face case (142DFC1X,
sold separately) can also be purchased for this unit.
Variable Illumination: The XDMA6540 features variable color
illumination for its LCD screen and buttons. You can adjust the button & LCD
illumination between 31 preset colors, or customize your own color by adjusting
Red, Green, & Blue levels (0-16). You can even have it scroll through all
preset and customized colors. In addition, you can set a different color more
for day & night driving.
Display Settings: The head unit offers the following display
settings.
- Scrolling: You can change the scrolling style used for
displayed information on the LCD screen. Choose from Off (no scrolling),
Once (scrolls once), 15 Secs (scrolls once per 15 seconds), & On
(constantly scrolls).
- LCD Type: You can set the LCD illumination type to
Positive (color background with black text), Negative (Black background with
color text), or Automatic (switches to positive during daytime and negative
during the night).
- Display Dimmer: The head unit's display features three
illumination dimmer settings (High/Medium/Low).
12/24 Hour Clock: The unit's built-in clock will display
12-hour AM/PM time in USA frequency spacing mode. In European frequency spacing
mode, the clock will display 24-hour time.
Note: The clock can be set to stay on even when the head
unit is turned off.
Power-On Message: This feature allows a "Good
Morning/Afternoon/Evening" text message to be shown on the unit's LCD screen
when it is powered on.
Demo Mode: You can enable or disable the unit's
demonstration mode.
