Why would I need an iPod® adapter?

An iPod adapter allows you to connect your iPod to your car stereo, then access your playlists with your stereo's controls - a great idea for several reasons. One, you can scroll through your song titles on your stereo's larger display, instead of squinting down at your iPod. Two, you can route the adapter cable to your glove compartment or center console, so your iPod stays safely out of sight. Three, the iPod adapter keeps your iPod fully charged, so it's ready to rock when you leave your car. And last of all, some adapters bypass your iPod's internal digital-to-analog converter, using your stereo's superior DAC to turn your files back into music.

Jensen's jLinkUSB cable connects your iPod to select Jensen multimedia receivers with a USB input. The cable plugs into your iPod's dock connector and then into the USB input of your stereo, giving you full audio playback and control from the Jensen. Some models will require you to also plug in the cable's mini-jack connection for video playback.

Your Jensen stereo will display text information like song category, track name, and artist on its video screen while you listen. And, with most iPods, the cable charges your battery while it's connected. Warranty: 30 days.

Features

Overview: The Jensen jLink-USB cable (jLINK-USB) allows you to connect select iPods to select Jensen 2010 multimedia head units through the head unit's included MediaLink module (using both the USB port and AV 3.5mm input). Once an iPod is connected, you can playback audio/video content from your iPod on your compatible Jensen multimedia head unit. The Jensen head unit will  display text information such as song, track or artist name from your connected iPod. You can directly control audio functions of your iPod from the head unit's touchscreen or supplied IR remote. During audio playback of your iPod, the iPod's controls will be locked. Your iPod is also charged when it is connected to your Jensen head unit. The jLink-USB cable, when connected to a compatible Jensen 2010+ multimedia head unit, is "Made for iPod/iPhone" compatible and supports the following iPod/iPhone model features (as of 10/10/2012):

This is a decent-quality cable though I was disappointed in its inability to be used as a full
iPhone "video out." The iPhone / iPod touch supports YouTube, Netflix, and others through
a standard video out cable. The head-unit and this cable would only play iPod videos.
Attempted using it as an "AV-in" source but would not work. Bought a different iPhone
specific cable which can be used as "AV-in" direct to my remote monitors.

The adator drove me a little crazy. The USB connectors don't fit tight together. I had to
tape them together to get them to stay connected.

It is what it is, a WAAAAAY overpriced cable. I was in a rush and Crutchfield was the only place that would have it delivered in time for the installation. The cable works fine, but the reason I didn't give it a 5 star rating was because of the price. Anyway, the cable is just a cable and there is nothing special to it. For the price I thought there would be something "special" about it but nothing!
